Remarque was out for fresh air and a bit of me-time. The Dark Mirror Court had been quiet of late, and when all he'd seen were people leaving it, he didn't feel like that was such a bad thing. It wasn't even that cold tonight.

Well. It kind of was, but he was so numb to it that it didn't even matter. He walked with his hands in his pockets, half wondering if he should seek out the energy signatures tingling on his radar, half wondering if he should try and grab some energy.

To be honest, he suspected some other members of the Court were slacking, but then he couldn’t be sure if it was them, or if the wraiths were just acting up. With a begrudging sigh he figured he ought to make his way into the dark corners of the City and pick on the gutter trash.

With a heavy sigh, he trudged through the half inch of crisp snow towards his intended targets. His path took an unexpected twist here and there, and he really had been intending to go drain some energy…

Except, suddenly, a very familiar—but different—face was standing in front of him.

"Lenka," he greeted, seeming surprised.

This was not the tiny chibi he was so used to seeing, but she was undeniably the Senshi of Watermelons.

He seemed impressed, and perplexed.

"You look different. Feel stronger, too. Where's my little Chibi gone?"

…It was almost teasing. And almost affectionate. If he could bring himself to show such emotions for a White Moon Senshi, at least.

Lenka bristled as the feeling of a strong chaotic aura came into her vicinity. This was not how she had wanted to spend the rest of her evening…she had been enjoying the cold night, letting the wind whip across her skin and face and blow her hair…She had been on such a nice date with Orin earlier and it was just nice…

It was still strange being fifteen…it was feeling like life was starting to just zoom off without her and she wasn’t sure if she was ready for it all…next year she would be in her second year of high school…and it was time to really start thinking about college and other things and…

And it was all going so fast.

Tonight though…she blinked looking over at the voice, and frowned at Remarque, shrugging slightly. “I’ve not been a chibi for quite a while, Remarque…I’m surprised you didn’t know that yet. You’re supposed to know everything after all…right?”

She gave a little grin, slightly smug, and slightly wary. She didn’t feel like fighting tonight. She just wanted to reflect on her date.

And the new Star Wars movie, of course.

"Know everything?" Remarque scoffed. "That'd be a lot of useless information rattling around in my brain. Or, perhaps the world's gotten bigger since I first started all this. You look good, though." He nodded approvingly.

"How's life been treating you? I was worried when I didn't see you for so long. I thought something'd happened to you. Didn't know if I needed to hunt someone down." For as much of a nuisance as Lenka had been when she was younger, he had found her rather endearing. She'd grown on him, the little parasite. He confessed, as he casually crossed the difference between the two of them, "I was worried about you. Even starting to miss you, I think."

She might not have been as short as she once was, and he was already missing the opportunity to comfortably ruffle her hair.

But she was a full Senshi, now. She felt so different. He almost felt like he should be proud of her—just as long as she didn't suddenly decide to be a thorn in his side again.

“Well, I mean you always acted like you were the king of the world who knew everything.” Lenka huffed and looked away, seeming kind of amused and maybe even a little flattered that he had been worried about her…she was kind of a big deal, after all.

“I’ve been fine. You know. Growing up things just change…and people just change so…I’ve been busy. You know how life gets…how have you been? Still doing okay? I’m sad to see you still haven’t come over to our side…its’ such a shame, you’d be so much prettier if you were playing for the light…”

Lenka’s voice almost sounded sad, almost. She hated most of the members of chaos…and just because she had a few good times with Remarque…it didn’t mean those good feelings she had would last forever…he was still her mortal enemy, after all…and that wasn’t going to change because they had shared a few laughs…years ago.

Remarque just shrugged. "I'm partial to black, I confess. It really brings out the color of my eyes." He flashed a grin, obviously a bit cocky. "What about you? Black's always fashionable. You'd look good in it. Of course, the Dark Mirror Court isn't all about aesthetics."

He shrugged and took a much more relaxed stance next to her. He was still taller, so he still got to look down at her. "Somebody's gotta clean up the mess and pave the way for a new future. We're trying to reform some things," he shrugged.

"Little difficult to get on the right track, but it's a work in progress. Getting into space is significantly more difficult than I'd planned," he confessed, sighing exasperatedly. "But once we figure that out, it should be much easier. I'll sleep better at night knowing we've got a second home to work on. For," he shrugged, "When the Negaverse destroys Earth."

“You’d still look better in white, I’ll say it a million times If I have to. And, not thank you. I look better in white. But I swear, if you ever see me with glowing bits. Just kill me, seriously.” She watched him, shaking her head kind of sadly. “You know, Remarque. I’m sorry to say that you really are working things backwards…why don’t you think that joining with the white moon is the best option? You know for a fact, since you came up to space with me…even if it was against my will that you came…but you could already get to space if you were on my side of this.”

She almost seemed as though she was on the verge of pleading…but no, she wouldn’t go that far. Sure she really did want him to see her side of this and say that he’d try…because it did make sense…the white moon had access to their homeworlds…had access to space…

And if he was worried about the negaverse being the s**t heads that they were…

Then why wouldn’t’ he just purify? They could be real friends if he would just do that…

“We could fight them together…maybe we could really win if you were on our side, Remarque…”

Remarque laughed quietly and shook his head. "You flatter me. But maybe we're better like this. The Negaverse could hurt the people I care about if I joined you. It's a delicate balance, you know. Trying to keep them safe and still do the right thing. You really can't tell anyone I said it, but I'm rather unhappy with the Negaverse. Their idea of the future…"

His voice trailed off. "It's not my idea of the future. The Senshi already have a big enough job just trying to stop the Negaverse from taking over, but I don't think our goals are really so different. We both want to keep the people we care about safe, right? …The only difference is, you have the manpower to take down the Negaverse. Me," he shrugged, and tugged at a string on his uniform. "I've got a different job. And it might not always seem like it, but," he shrugged.

"I don't think you and I are so different. I don't even think we have to be enemies. We could even work pretty well together, I'd imagine."

The senshi shook her head, looking both annoyed and slightly exasperated. “Remarque, would you listen to yourself? I don’t understand why you think it’s okay, hunky dory and all that jazz to keep fighting a war on two fronts…that really sucked for the Germans in World War Two, so why on earth would you think it’s a good idea now? You know that if you don’t like the Negaverse, chances are that a lot of them don’t like you either, and I know for a fact that most of the white moon hates you…you’re like…lepers, outcasts that don’t fit in anywhere…”

Lenka reached out and grabbed one of his overlays, sighing. “I’m sure if we did work together, you and I could find a way to help all of the Dark Mirrors to come back to the light…I’m sure we could find a way to help you, then we could fight together…because as you are, you’ll never find peace, Remarque…and honestly, you sort of might maybe deserve have peace. I know my side does, but if your team is becoming more against the Negaverse…than why should we bother fighting one another? Come back. Just come back to the light…”

Remarque watched as she grabbed one of his overlays and just sighed. She wasn't a chibi, and she certainly wasn't a child, but she was young. Battle hardened, but she still seemed naïve. "It's not that easy," he tried to explain.

"I can't join something I don't understand. Most of the White Moon is blind to anything but other White Moon. In the Dark Mirror Court, we have access to Mirrorspace—a whole world of untapped potentials. Something, somehow, had the ability to make us stronger—to give us abilities you don't have. I'm not fighting you. I haven't fought the White Moon for a long time, now."

…With a few exceptions he wasn't going to name right now.

"I don't want to fight. The way I see it…" He shrugged. "It's diplomacy. The Negaverse has information I want. But I don't share their beliefs. And I don't want them to attack the people I know. I've got a family. If I changed sides—if they lose my protection…I don't know what would happen. I don't know what the future holds," he promised, "But I know that if the Negaverse destroys this planet, we're all s**t out of luck. Pardon my language."

…Or whatever; she wasn't a kid anymore.

"The Senshi haven't had luck in making any space rock habitable, so maybe the Dark Mirror Court can. Maybe Mirrorspace has answers we just haven't found yet."

…Wishful thinking of a place that he suspected might actually just want him dead. But he had hope, and he hoped she'd understand.

"We're trying to explore it, to uncover the mysteries. And I think we've got a good chance at finding something."

It was all wishful thinking. But he put on a good front and certainly seemed confident enough.

Lenka let the sheer piece of fabric drop from her hands, giving a bitter sort of laugh. “You fool. Chaos of any sort is still just chaos. It uses you and it abuses you. And one day, you’ll be wiped out and I won’t even feel bad.”

She took a few steps backwards, looking only a little sad. Just a little. Honestly she was annoyed. He was so stubborn in his ways, she might have been stubborn in hers…but at least she had the numbers and the…the everything to back her argument up. He was relying on some…some something that she had never heard of.

“Yeah, you’re right that we are s**t out of luck, but at least we white moon senshi can work on making our planets more habitable, you can’t do a damn thing, so honestly, Remarque, you’re the one who’s s**t out of luck. And honestly, I hope you rot. Good luck keeping your family safe when you’re dead.”

Her hands had balled into fists and she turned, shaking slightly.

“Goodbye.”

She wanted nothing more to do with him. Those poisoned by chaos weren’t worth saving. They had to just be destroyed…no matter how nice they sometimes seemed to be…and if she had her way, she would find a way to destroy them all.

Remarque watched her leave; she was fast, and was gone before he had the opportunity to even speak to her. For a split second he had thought about using his magic to string her up and hold her in place, but he suspected that if he did that he'd only make more of an enemy out of her.

But she didn't understand.

She wasn't thinking about this from his perspective. She might have thought she was helping, but she wasn't thinking the same way at all. And now she was gone before she could break it down and…

His hands clenched into fists sat his side and he had to drawn in a breath to calm himself. It wasn't worth getting upset.

She was young, and naïve. There were worse things she could be.

Like stubborn and overzealous and now more powerful.

He grit his teeth and had to force his emotions down. She didn't understand now. She was looking at this from a totally different angle.

This wasn't just black and white, and it wasn't just enemies. No war ever had just two sides, and they could have been of more use together than apart. The White Moon and the Dark Mirror Court each had their own strengths; they could fight this war together, from different angles.

The Chaos didn't control him, he controlled it.

She just didn't understand. Yet.

There was still time to make her understand.

One way or another.
