I shot an arrow into the air

Sagitta was ravenous. The batwalker had been scouring the land below while flying in his feral form. It was tricky for the best of flying creatures in the dark of night but Sagitta held an advantage over lesser flying creatures. Nothing could hide from his sight when he used echolocation. Sonar painted every object below him in a map of sound. The only difficult action was pausing long enough to interpret what he was seeing below. In the best of times figuring out just what he saw in a timely manner helped to aid him in making a kill to assuage his ever growing hunger.

And where it landed I know not where

If there was one thing that Sagitta could understand with total clarity the answer would have been only one simple thing: hunger. The batwalker could feel hunger clawing at his belly. He saw and smelled a desperate sort of hunger for freedom in the creatures he hunted. Cries of hunger rang in his ear like music. The touch of hunger also lent itself to him with its laser-like abundance. Precision sharpened by hunger allowed him the skill to continuously slice through that one 'perfect spot' every time he went for the kill. Taste, well, that was another story to tell for another time.

Sagitta had been flying feral for what felt like ages. The hunger that he was so intimate knowing had returned and had compelled him to leave his old home in order to find a new home in which prey would be plentiful and he could glut himself on the flesh of his foes. Whispers spoke of such a place where his dreams might be realized and so he had set out, never to return, to make his presence known and to quell that which could never truly be quelled: his hunger.

To know hunger one only had to look deep inside. Sagitta's many experiences had taught him to savor every opportunity to satiate his craving for the flesh of others. His life was a fine balancing act that the skinwalker instinctively knew could be thrown for a loop if he ignored that which was his most basic need. Going without sustenance could lead him to make many fatal mistakes from simply choosing the wrong way to travel or perhaps a more massive one like which prey animal to attack. Thought decisions became muddled if he sought to stave off killing. So it was usually every third day or so that Sagitta would listen, look and kill something. Be it a Soquili or just a stupid animal. He needed the food in order to survive and keep his wits about him.

Although now though he had to give pause and take care not to make too much of a scene with the carnage that was to come. Alerting the local populace to his presence would make it less likely that his hunting would succeed. Sagitta needed to be smart, cunning, and if the need arose, opportunistic. He would scavenge kills if it meant a quiet transition into the neighborhood. Once he became situated was when he could begin to learn all that there was to know about this new land that he had arrived in. Sagitta smirked as he alit from the branches of a tree he had taken refuge in. There was innate knowledge that he longed to once again put to use on the unsuspecting denizens of the land. They would learn to fear him; all in good time though. After all he was almost the top of the food chain around here.

It had taken longer than anticipated; winning the trust of the local populace. Denizens of the land saw the pelt on his back and instantly their hackles went up and looks of pure loathing seared what seemed to be a dejected figure. Sagitta was inwardly counting down the days to which he could slaughter everyone in sight. At present there were at least a good half-dozen fools that had signed their own deaths when they opened labeled him as a monster. Why would they have to go and destroy the carefully cultivated trust he was slowly establishing amongst the local populace? Did they not see the harm they were doing to him with their thoughtless actions?

The thing was he would have perhaps shown some leniency towards these individuals but now there was no room for forgiveness in his mind. He would have perhaps maimed them as a reminder that he was top dog around these parts but even that seemed like an act of mercy. Nothing would stop him from swiftly executing his targeted prey now. It was with great pleasure that he moved swiftly through the skies on leather wings. He always moved more fluidly in the air in his feral form. He had been slowly tracking down the first of six that needed to pay with their life blood. Already he was ready for the kill that was to come. Sagitta chittered with growing anticipation. The hunger would be held at bay for another day. Soon one more life would be his to take; to savor; to destroy.

Sagitta savoured the fear wafting off his first victim. The stallion had been downed with a well executed attack from above that helped to snap the bones in his right foreleg. The bones were just so fragile when a heavy weight dropped from above. Sagitta had been in his feral form but he still had a great deal of weight to crash into his prey with. Now he merely stood above his downed target almost as if he was passing judgement on the stallion. In a sense of the word he was though. He had labelled this particular individual as one to be destroyed and now he had succeeded. It was all the batwalker could do not to lunge directly at his victim's throat. Instead he delayed the moment for anticipation was always best to be savoured. Chuckling softly Sagitta walked a circuit around the stallion and then promptly lashed out with his hooves into the stallion's backside.

It was not a particular violent strike but flesh opened under the sharp blow. Now that looked a lot better to the walker's gaze; a little blood spilled and all. He relished the grunt of pain that was involuntarily given before tsking. "Our time has come to its end I am afraid. Now you know what it is to draw the wrath of a monster, as you once called me, down upon yourself. I hope that no one will miss you too much. I would just love to express my sorrow at giving such grievous news to any loved ones you might have, If they came looking for you I would have to end their lives just as I am about to end yours."

Sagitta moved with a quickness that would have startled anyone else to bring his hooves down once more; their target was the stallion's head. He'd not be conscious for the final blow: the one strike that would end his pitiful life.
