There were few things Mnyiri didn't enjoy. She was still reeling from having seen her first, live earthling. Rhonann was just too cool! The crystals, the shortness, the leather colored hair...she was just too weird to be true!
However, Mnyiri knew Rhonann couldn't be the only type of earthling. Nor could earthlings be the only cool thing to discover. So, for the moment, she left her traveling companion alone at their camp to poke around a bit. She'd taker her mother's spear with her just in case, but Mnyiri hoped she wouldn't have to use it. She had little to no skill with the thing, so it would just be her luck to run herself through. With every step the bells in her dreads chimed a little tune, making her as sorry of a huntress as ever there could be.
And then she stumbled on something. With all the foliage Mnyiri hadn't noticed it, and so, she land face down in the black soil with a loud thud. What in the...? When she looked over her shoulder she expected to see a root or maybe some sort of crystal; not a tiny chest.
An earthling chest.
She shrieked so loud that any creatures in the area would have high tailed it away from her. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, yesssssssss~" Spear forgotten on the ground, she picked up the chest. It was barely as large as an infant...and locked. "Oh come on!"

The sound of bells is what caught her attention. She was walking through the forest, her spear in one hand and some food in the other, chowing down and enjoying the taste bud bliss, when she heard them. Blinking she had to pause and look around a few times. Ariya was sure she had imagined it. There was no way that bells would just be going off in the middle of the damned jungle. Then she heard it again and this time she turned her head in the direction they'd come from. Both her ears and her antennae gave a twitch or two before she took another bite of her delicious food.
Deciding that she was curious about these bells she started toward them in no particular hurry. Then there was a flurry of jingling before a shriek was heard. This caused her to lift one brow awkwardly. Stuffing the rest of her food into her mouth she picked up the pace a little and made her way to where the commotion was.

"Open. You. Stupid. Thing!" Mnyiri had resorted to using her spear tip as a make shift lock pick, which wasn't working out well for her. The tip was just too big for the key hole, and getting a good enough grip to hold it was impossible. Sitting back with a huff, the young hybrid took in the chest that now sat between her legs on the ground. It looked old...old enough to have something really neat inside.
Tilting her head to the side, amidst a flurry of tingling, Mnyiri's mind worked out a few different scenarios. "I could apply pressure to the hinges and...and..." Her antennae had begun to twitch, giving her the impression that she was no longer alone. Since she was in the middle of an area known for it's wildlife Mnyiri didn't pay them any mind.
Until she realized she was no longer at home, and not everything in this jungle was safe.
"Whose out there?"

What she came upon was more than a little amusing. It was a hybrid, only the second one she'd seen in her life, and she was trying to get into some old looking box with a lock on it. Ariya smirked at the sight though she did feel a little sorry for the spear that was being used so improperly.
Once the girl seemed to figure out that she was no longer alone the young blade laughed a little. "Easy there feisty." Ariya licked her lips and came out into the open, still holding her spear. She looked at the box then back at the girl. "You know that's no way to use a spear, right?" She certainly hoped so.
Given the time she looked the girl over. In her mind she was trying to figure out what she was mixed with.

Even though she was of hybrid blood, Mnyiri hadn't been raised to fear the judgement of her sisters. Some had scorned her, sure, but none had actually hurt her. The stranger's laugh set what nerves she had at ease.
Mnyiri leaned back, legs barely crossed with the box nestled on her land. Her palms were flat on the ground, forcing her rather large assets to the top. "Yeah, I know, but I don't have any lock picks." What few she had were precious treasures. She had requested them from the older sisters in exchange for favors, and what few they had found were in rough shape. Mnyiri would have broken everyone right now if that meant getting in the chest, however.
"I don't suppose you know how we could break it open?"

Now there was a sight. Ariya was distracted by the large chest that clearly outshined the one on the ground. It actually took her a moment to pull her eyes away from that and return to the girl's face. When her mind caught up to the conversation she gave a thoughtful look then lifted her shoulders. "I might know a way." Really she actually had an idea on how to open it.
Well, more than one. Ariya did have a pick on her but she wasn't so willing to hand that over. She may have a use for it at a later time. "Who are you, anyways?" Her curiosity and apparently interest were clearly written on her face.

Mnyiri caught the spear holder's lingering gaze, though it didn't bother her. If she hadn't wanted to grab the others attention she would have stayed hunched over. She may have been young, but she wasn't above using her assets to get her some much needed assistance. "Really? That's great!" Mnyiri sat up a little straighter, moving her body a half turn to better see the other.
"My name's Mnyiri," she smiled. "I was passing through when I tripped over this thing. I think it's an earthling relic and I'm just dyiiiinnnnggg to know whats inside." Brushing a few dreads away from her face, Mnyiri paused to really look up at the older Alkidike. "Whoever you are, you're awfully cute and helpful, so that makes you alright in my book."

She nodded her head. "Nice to meet you Mnyiri." Ariya stepped up closer to the odd little chest and made a motion for the girl to back away from it. "I'm Ariya." Short introduction and she didn't comment on the cute thing either. Though she did wink at the girl before she started to play with her lip stud. "You're awfully sexy."
When Mnyiri moved away from the chest she'd lift her spear before bringing it down, blunt end first, on the lock. She had enough force behind the jab to break the mechanism. Thankfully it was only a small lock. Anything larger would have required a lock pick or key. "There you are Gorgeous."

Heras Box Did I double quote you with this? I went in to edit some grammar/spelling mistakes in my last post and I think I did. xD Sorry for that! I tend to do that a lot so if you see another quote from me don't think I'm trying to push you for a tag! I'm just overly critical on my own tags lol. Scooting away from the chest, Mnyiri re-positioned her legs so that they were now under her. She caught the wink, which made her smile intensify and she gave a little laugh. "Oh, I like you already, Ariya." Compliments, a helping hand, and a cute tease? Today really was turning into an amazing day!
She kept a keen eye on Ariya's spear, and when the force of the blow broke it open she made a high pitched squeal that might have been a shriek. Mnyiri threw her hands up into the air, and shimmied in her excitement. "Yes, yes, yessss!" Moving herself closer, Mnyiri brought the chest up onto her lap. She looked up to Ariya, then back to the chest, then back to Ariya. "Is it weird that I'm almost scared to open it now?" Then with an almost maniacal chuckle she lowered her head to open it. "Nope, never mind, I have to see-"
What she saw caused her for once to remain silent and still.

Painted Moose XD I'm usually on top of tags so I feel bad when it takes me longer than a day to reply. She couldn't help the shake of her head or the grin that she wore. Watching the girl practically squeal with delight over the now opened chest she laughed. "Calm down, Sweetheart, it's just an earthling treasure." Ariya said, though she was rather amused by Mnyiri's reaction. Not to mention the distraction she provided.
The question about the old treasure made her shrug her shoulders. Ariya had never had the luck to find one so she didn't know what was normal as far as dealing with it. Amusement stayed as the girl decided that even that wouldn't stop her from looking, but when Mnyiri stopped abruptly Ariya lifted a brow curiously. "Radaku got your tongue Gorgeous?"

Heras Box Oh man. xD I try to stay on top of tags, but sometimes there are weeks between them....>3> #badMoose "That's just it; it's an earthling treasure. Aren't you the least bit curious about what they consider valuable? How they think?" Mnyiri carefully tilted the chests lid back, using her thighs to hold the now open container in place. Her fingers twitched over the goodies inside before slipping into the pile. What she pulled out wasn't jewelry or gold, not even a particularly enchanting dagger. Instead it was a stack of small scrolls, all wrapped tight with little red ribbons to hold the contents in place. She carefully unraveled one, and scoured it's contents.
"They're trade receipts. Ledgers dictating where and what cargo was transferred." At first her tone was neutral, but that was only because for once she was focused. Once the moment had passed she excitedly reached her hand out to Ariya, intent on pulling her close. "Come here and see this! It's the coolest thing. See look here...there talking about Janarim sales, and slaves so it has to be Oban. It even says where the slaves were taken. I think you could track them all down with these if someone really wanted to." There might even be family records trapped within these little scrolls!

Painted Moose I think after this rp Ariya is gonna be retired. >>;; So that was the appeal. The fact that this was an earthlings treasure and the curiosity over what they thought needed to be guarded in such a way. Ariya shrugged her shoulders. Honestly she didn't see the point. All of her things were laid out in her home. Then again, she didn't need to worry about someone coming in and taking them. When she finally heard what it was that was so important she made a face. All that for some ledgers? The Alkidike shook her head.
As she took note of the girl trying to pull her close she moved in a little to have a look see. Learning that it held slave trade logs was something. Giving a small twitch of her antennae she knelt down to read a few. "Now that is interesting.. You should find someone who is searching for the slaves that were sold and see if they want these." Ariya didn't think much about it all, but she could imagine the pain the families of those slaves and how they would think the world of the information.

Heras Box Aww. D: Lack of muse? If you don't want to finish this rp we can end it. I'm in no hurry to grow Mnyiri. "You think so?" Mnyiri pondered on it, little bells chiming sweetly as she turned her head this way and that. The more selfish side of her personality didn't want to let go of the information, but...what if it led her to more? She might even get to meet some of these slaves, and find out what that kind of life had been like.
And it might help them to find their families. As someone who was desperately searching for her own, Mnyiri could understand that struggle. "Where would I even start trying to find someone to show these to?"
