My mother will kill me if she finds out how much I spent on thin books in a language I CANNOT READ.
I can't fully understand the urge I feel when I see those doujins all lined neatly in rows on eBay. Maybe I'm fulfilling my childhood urge of wanting doujins but unable to buy. I DON'T KNOW.
It's not like I actually read them continously. I look at the pictures, chuckle, and then leave them on my shelf to gather dust. At the most, I only scan the covers because I am DEATHLY AFRAID of destroying their spines.
So why do I buy? Why does doujinshi hold such a appeal to english fans, even though it's likely that most of them can't read Japanese?
WHY CAN'T I CONTROL MYSELF? gonk

Hide them from your mother! I actually don't know why they are appealing to English fans, but I brought some last year at this anime convention I went to. I actually spent like over $100 there, and my mother kind of found out... The result wasn't pretty.

It's not your mom's problem. It was your money. Unless it was hers, then she has a right to be mad at you.

Well, they arrived safe and sound, and thank goodness my mom has stopped opening my packages now. xd Now all I have to do his hide my bank account's statement for her, and I should be safe. Thesenis: It's my money - money I earned from babysitting. However, my parents have problems with me buying stuff for my own entertainment for some reason. confused

Good luck with that, hopefully she won't get to the bank statement before you. I should to that too, I spent like $94 last Saturday and then spent another $20 on Sunday... sweatdrop
By the way, your outfit is so adorable. 4laugh

That's why I'm glad my parents don't care about what I buy. Until I buy it so they can make fun of me for wasting my money on useless stuff...because they're hypocrites, or at least my mom is when it comes to that.
My mom has a closet, the 4-6 drawers under her bed, an armoire, and half of another drawer full of clothes, all of which cost her 2-5$ each. She always comes home with 10 pairs of pants each that cost 2-5$, each needing to be hemmed up so they look nice, or fit properly. She goes on about how they were such a bargain, and that my sister and I should buy cheap clothes like that. But when you add it all together, all of her clothes combined come out to more than all of mine would, and my sisters. The majority of these clothes she never wears, and numerous pants have been hemmed wrong, or are unhemmable, which means she wasted 5$.
Hello supreme redundancy, my name is Brolly.

My mom complains about how expensive my sisters and my clothes are, and how they are more expensive than her's, which I'm kind of doubting but then again, I don't know how much she spend on her clothes.

My mom says my clothes are more expenceive than hers too. But thats when I remind her that with all the clothes she's bought for 5$ she's barely spent anything on me.
I havn't bought new pants in almost a year. Actually I think it's been MORE than a year since I've bought new pants. And I only have 3 pairs. xp

Eh, I got shopping from time to time. There are times where I exchange clothes with my younger sister.

Eh, my mother complains about how many books I buy. neutral Big suprise.
If I want to fork over $2.50 for a very used copy of An Introduction to Fish Diseases, that's my business.

My parents give the "You need to save for school" excuse. Damn it, if I have a job, I go to college, and I still can't spend money the way I want to? My stepmother actually took my debit card to curb my "spending habits."
I'm thinking of just getting a new debit card and letting her keep my old one, since she seems so attached to it.
BTW, I haven't bought a manga in 2 months, and it's killing me inside.

I always take out 20$ every paycheck, and that seems to last me for the most part for two weeks, on top of tip-share. I rarely use my debit for two reasons. 1, I don't want to because then I'll probably just blow all of my money. 2, I generally forget I can because it's been unused for so long.
...I can't help but feel this thread has been somewhat hijacked.
