Looking out his dorm window, Lazaus watched as everyone walked down the pathway to wherever they were heading for the later part of the day. Each one seemed to have an understanding of the rules and such, following signs and being courteous to others around them. He even saw one chimera allowing a fey to hurry on by because he saw the other was about to be late.

"If only I could have that same respect and generosity for my teachers and authority above me," he spoke out loud to himself, a sigh escaping his lips as he placed his hand upon the window ", what could I do to finally understand how to show respect to them? What does respect truly look like?"

As he pondered these things, he thought back to how he had started off his classes this year. For the most part he had honestly been rude to his teachers. He had come to class late, refused to listen to anything that wasn't interesting, and even refusing to do work at times. He truly hadn't been the best of students. Then something occurred to him ", wait... I don't do those things anymore."

Fingers leaving the cold glass of the window, he got up and rushed over to his bed, looking for his journal he had been doing for language arts. There had to be something in here for him to realize he had begun to change his ways. Sure enough, the further he read into his writings, the more respect he had begun to show to his teachers and to those in positions above him in the words he wrote. He had been in a sense been showing his higher ups more respect by showing them he did care about his education and his everyday life. Turns out he was on the path of bettering himself, and that only caused Lazarus to smile even more ", I am going to keep aiming for better. Nothing is going to stop me on this journey of discovery, not even my own recklessness."
