The little yellow house that held the (made up) address of #112 on Deus was no longer occupied by Gale, but he did still walk past it sometimes, wondering whether or not it looked the same inside. He hadn't heard from Cami in quite a while, but he assumed that she was taking care of it; from the outside, it certainly still appeared perfectly neat and tidy.

But the house was no longer his concern, at least not at present. Gale stood outside of it with his hands tucked into his pockets and then turned and slowly made his way back towards the main campus of Deus, his feet carrying him across the path. There was a mission he was meant to attend, and he was on his way there now; but he was dragging, for once, his heart not quite set on it.

He'd never thought he would give up the house. But, then again, he'd never thought he'd find Stormy, or Bix, or Candace, or anything, really, that had happened so far in the past long while. Almost five years had passed since coming to Deus; sometimes it felt like much shorter, and other times as though he'd been here forever. So much had changed - he'd finally gotten bloody taller - but so much had remained the same as well.

Life was a contradiction of terms lately, it seemed. Gale rubbed a hand over his face and continued walking, slowly trudging towards the lighthouse.

Life before Deus was barely a memory anymore. Bix and his generation of hunters were as ingrained in the place as it was on them, and perhaps he was growing up, but the 'job' was a lifestyle now. He woke up, trained, did reports and work, and went where he was assigned. He came home to his girlfriend and their comfortable shared rooms, and relaxed until he had to wake up and do it again- or until new tragedies or emergencies struck.

His friendships weren't neglected, it was hard to avoid anyone on the island really, but they all were here in the s**t together so most conversations and contact was passing or brief. It had been a while since he'd really sat with a friend or gone out on a mission with someone he actually knew very well. of course missions were like grab bags so Bix didn't know exactly what he was in for when he was told to report to the lighthouse.

He was oddly late (mostly because he'd napped and his hair got all sorts of messed up and that took an extra 10 minutes to work on-) and was hustling up the path behind Gale, only too happy to see his best friend's back.

"Gale!" He panted a bit, elbow stuck through the sleeve hole of his coat, but arm stuck at an odd angle that had him dancing on one foot to wriggle and fix. The pale man grinned, "Wait up!"

Gale had heard briefly from Bix over the past several years, but only in passing and the contact had sadly been brief. They had both been busy with their duties, and while it was understandable, it did not stop the sense of slight loneliness that had been welling in Gale ever since. Bix had been Gale's first friend on the island, and remained his best mate ever since, even with the distance.

He had no idea now who he was going to go on the mission with, Gale trudging slowly towards the lighthouse with his hands stuffed into his pockets. He didn't hear the footsteps running towards him, but he did hear the voice - an all too familiar voice.

Gale's head snapped around so fast he probably cricked it, eyes wide - and there was Bix, looking comically like himself in the best of ways, pale skin and hair standing out starkly in the foggy winter air.

There was silence for a moment as Gale stared at him, and then he said:

"You look terrible."

"Wow." Bix snorted with a laugh, "Well you look dashing and handsome as always, bestie of mine, but that may be your deceptive accent." The pale man finally stuffed his arm through his sleeve and zipped up the vest-like uniform he wore.

"You off on a mission? Think we are together? OH MAN LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS!" He nudged Gale with an elbow and his own crappy fake accent, "You have my bow~"

C'mon do it. DO IT GIMLI.

Gale could not help the roll of his eyes, but a flush of pleasure had touched his cheeks unbidden. It was a mark of their friendship that Bix was still...well, Bix, and Gale was still Gale, attempting not to show just how glad he was to see his best friend again.

"Yes, I was going on a mission," he said, and then stared more at him.

He wasn't going to do it. He wasn't going to do it.

"And."

No.

"You. Have my bow. Maybe."

Damn it, Bix.

Gale let out a sound of exasperation. "You bloody idiot," he snapped, but he was fighting a grin as he leaned over and punched Bix securely in the arm. "You are so ridiculous, how have you been?"

The satisfaction was immediate. Bix got wide eyes, double finger guns, and made a noise like, "AHHHHHH!!!!!!" In fact the only thing that stopped it was the fact that he couldn't just stand in the path and they had to keep walking.

"I've been fine.. Well-" Bix idly touched his hair, smoothing over the ponytail, "Taym- I had to sort of be his power of attorney. That wasn't great." Besides that his friend had died, and he'd been the one trusted to such a thing.

At least he knew the friendship had meant something in the end.

"But uh- ya know." People died and we moved along.

Gale would have punched Bix again, but managed to refrain at the last second, instead just settling for rolling his eyes. It was silly, perhaps, but he was ridiculously glad to see that Bix was still as goofy and comical as ever; a reassuring balm to his heart.

A slight flinch passed across Gale's face. He hadn't heard about Taym dying until much after the fact, and the idea that Bix had been the one to sort out what was left...

"Sorry," he said, and bumped his shoulder against his friend's. "Well. It's nice to know that you're still around, even if I haven't seen you in ages. I think you missed all the fuss that's been happening around here."

Bix nodded, once again relegating the feelings of loss to the back of his mind where all the other things that didn't make sense hid. The things they all dealt with and didn't talk about.

"I did miss the destruction fo the labs. Must've been nuts. I was off island a few weeks." Not so odd, they all got shipped off here and there.

"Anything else juicy I've missed? How's Stormy?" One could never tell if Gale was really in a good or bad mood. Well he could if he pressed but he preferred have his friend just tell him. They were nearing the lighthouse finally. Plenty of time to talk while off on the mission- assuming it wasn't a ******** terrible one.

Gale let out a slight snort.

"I wouldn't actually know, I wasn't there either," he said dryly. "But somehow it didn't surprise me to return and find half of the Life Labs gone, they're always messing with one thing or another."

He cast a sideways look at Bix, a slight smile on his face, cheeks tinging slightly pink as they always did when Stormy was mentioned.

"She's..." Gale exhaled a breath. "She's been struggling a bit." A lot. "But we're just...doing the best we can. This place can be a bit stressful at times, not that you would know anything about that," he added, smile tugging further at his lips.

"A bit stressful, he says.." Bix snorted and shook his head. "I get it though. Tell her I said hi."

Bix felt the stress as much as anyone else, maybe moreso having been here longer than most. At least he and Gale had that in common, the time put in. They remembered things that other's didn't, missions and people that had ended or gone before others had got here. They also had the balls to keep going themselves, which was something in itself.

The lighthouse was just up ahead, the usual throng of white coated hunters milling around. Some were guarding, others working the machinery and Bix and Gale were flagged down by someone who thrust folders into their hands.

"C class. For three but you two should be enough." The gruff Lifer assessed them. Two full veteran hunters should be enough for information gathering. "You can get changed over there."

They were hustled to some curtained off corner with a box of costumes and clothes.

"SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!" Bix grinned and shoved Gale.

He reassured Bix that, yes, he would make sure to tell Stormy hello, and then they were stepping into the lighthouse. Gale couldn't help but feel marginally reassured that, out of all the people he was going with, it was Bix - and while he could certainly be ridiculous sometimes, Bix was both his best mate and an experienced hunter who knew what he was doing.

Most of the time.

This, however, was put into question as soon as he found himself shoved in front of a box of costumes, Gale staring down into them.

"What...are we doing...with these, exactly..?"

General debriefing: There's rumours going around that something big is going down at a costume party in Nevada. It's not a black tie affair by any means; most people will be attending in outfits ranging from store bought to custom-made; which will make it easy for any hunters to slip in undercover.

While the whole thing is simply an excuse to get together to celebrate the spirit of All Hallow's Eve, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. There's too much money and bluster going on to not be covering something up, and the tips we've been given only confirm more of the same.

Find out what they're doing, and stop the deal from going down, by any means necessary-- and remember: don't get caught.

* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, and at least one of them must be an Intermediate Trainee.)

MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the main portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 13H.

This mission requires a disguise! Pick out a costume for your hunter, with a way to cover at least half their face! (Makeup and wigs are acceptable!) You can assume the quartermaster has some to borrow, within reason, or they can acquire their own.

Everyone on this mission will have a radio earpiece, super-spy like, so even if you get separated, you'll be able to talk to each other.

Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a BOSS ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics.

1- 20: The ballroom is packed to the brim, and noisy to boot. You manage to listen in to a series of conversations that seem suspicious between two shady figures in a corner. But they catch sight of you, though, and scatter into the crowd, talking into their wrists. Stay alert.

21 - 30: You decide to check out the basement, which takes a bit of lock picking (or breaking). Worry not about security: it looks like someone else has already taken care of that, a glowing red device attached to it, probably feeding it an empty loop. A level down, you find a bunch of crates, filled with familiar runics tinged in red. But you hear someone coming down the hall-- better get back to the party.

31 - 40: Something brushes you as the hors d'oeuvre go by, and it takes a few minutes to realize that a bug has been planted on you. It stays on you until your next roll. After that, you crush it, but... if you said anything, assume it's been compromised. Eyes seem to focus on the back of your neck, but it's impossible to find the source.

41 - 60: It looks like action is about to get started. People start filtering towards the doors, all of them discreet, but you are on the lookout, after all. But tailing one leads you nowhere; a diversionary tactic. Better get back to the hall and try again.

61 - 80: Someone mistakes you for a server, and you get hustled back into the kitchen and loaded up with a plate of food or drinks, and then shoved right back out of the kitchens. To not blow your cover, you need to, well. Serve. Roll 1d10 and get a 7 or above to offload them all. It wasn't for naught, though: you managed to confirm there's a huge deal going down at the stroke of midnight, down in the basement. You better be there, or be square. Or, you know. Fail your mission.

81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER:
- It's time. You've managed to tail someone to the levels far below the party, enough that the din has dulled to a low roar. You can hear yourself think, but you can also hear low murmurings as you approach the site of the deal you've been looking for all night.

It's not creatures of FEAR, you find, but several men and women. And they are armed to the teeth with weapons that glow blood red. The other half of the bargaining party decide that discretion is the better part of valor, and slip out the door, taking only as many goods as they can carry.

The armed figures block off every exit, and every camera has been shorted. There's no one that can hear you scream, and that's fine. You are a hunter, and now, it's time to prove your worth.

- BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a number of humans that have a collective 100 HP. They use red runic weapons, but have no shield. It's numbers they have on their side, and in great excess.

Every time you attack the boss (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back.

After Boss defeat:
Upon the death of the final enemy-- the rest having fled-- you realize they've activated a self destruct button on the crates of supplies they were trying to sell. They'd rather they be destroyed than return to Deus' hands, especially in the wake of the failures of the Delta Event.

The weapons have crumbled to dust in their crates-- but there's still some laying around by the dead bodies. Better take some back to the island.

(Note: You cannot keep these. They will be confiscated upon arrival.)

Roll 1d4 to determine what is dropped
    1. Red runic weighted chains, several links loose.
    2. Red runic daggers, one of them cracked.
    3. A box of red runic bandages, half empty.
    4. A red runic trap gun, with both the trigger and barrel busted.

* 2 mission reward points for completing this successfully

The dossier in the folders slapped in their hands was pretty thorough and Bix stood reading before he even bothered heading for the costume area.

"C'mon Gale.. compared to some missions this sounds almost fun. It is a party at least." Bix grabbed a false mustache and held it up to his face, "Besides, you know stealth is totally my thing."

HA!

When Bix came out from behind the screen he looked a bit like the old man from monopoly, monocle and all.

Gale just raised an eyebrow.

"If you say so," he said, and then sighed, reaching to rummage around in the box. Bix's new appearance was given a look.

"Classy," said Gale, and there was a slightly amused smile on his face. "Very classy."

He disappeared behind the screen and reemerged a few moments later, dressed in a rather nice pinstriped suit with a cane.

And a large, reddish blonde beard and sunglasses.

"Don't say a word," Gale hissed.

Bix may as well of had stars in his eyes. His mouth was open, ready to scream BEARD when Gale said something and so instead of words there was a grating, keening, "EEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.." noise for a few seconds.

He then bit his lip to hide a grin under his own large false mustache.

"Alright. Professionals. We are professionals." Bix gave his friend a thumbs up as he pressed in his earpiece. "Ready?"

And he stepped through the portal.

He stared meaningfully at Bix as though to say that any word about the beard would result in some Serious Injury (™). Gale straightened his coat, made sure that his disguise was on properly, and followed Bix through the portal.

(He may or may not have also poked him a few times with his cane.)

On the other side was a ridiculous, frivolous party filled with loud music, chattering voices, laughter, and the clink of glasses. Gale stared out at everyone and then heaved an immense sigh, rubbing at his face with one of his hands.

"All right, here we go," he mumbled.

He attempted to sneakily follow someone past one of the doors in the room - but soon returned back to where he'd been, looking rather annoyed.

"Well, that didn't work."
