The trip through Jauhar and Tale was long, and Nuri was feeling it. Not only had he traveled hard with the army, but he also was traveling after his small reunion with Aseara. He felt a bit frustrated, considering they had such little time and he knew this part of his journey would be so much longer. At least at this point he knew he could write her a letter, as the group finally decided to visit a settlement and get proper lodging.

Eidan continued to glance back at him as they traveled, understanding slightly that Nuri was both homesick and heartsick. However, he other tamer was quiet as the group of five finally made it to the settlement.

"We will need to find lodging, spread out and see what we can do..."

Nuri nodded, letting out a sigh of relief. It was a good choice to bring both Naraka and his Limbara on the journey. The large creature was quite keen holding all of the packs, despite it being somewhat of a small thing. It was the size of Naraka, but Nuri wondered if it still had room to grow.

Hopefully he could find some lodging willing to keep such a strange creature.

The area where Eira's inn was located was somewhere between Isd, Tale and Dernd, Sauti, on the Sauti side of the border. The small place consisted of three buildings, one of which seemed to be bustling at the moment with a few people going in and out, that building being the inn. One of the other buildings, off to the side, had a sign that said it was for the workers only, and the third building was a spacious one with various sized stalls in it, the stable that Eira had set up because she'd be damned if she let a bunch of giant beasts tromp about her inn. Said woman, wrapped up in a warm, heavy fur cloak to fend off the cold was standing on the porch of the inn getting some fresh air.

She was standing there, watching, as the strange group approached and she gave a little whistle, "Well now, look what we have here." She murmured to the winter sprite sitting on her shoulder. She knew that, eventually, Obans would find their way here. She had no problem with it so long as they followed the rules, and those inside knew that everyone was welcome. Here was to hoping that everyoen would remember the war was over and not think to try to start a brawl in her inn. If that happened she'd end all of them! By which she meant they'd all be thrown out on their backsides by the others who worked at the inn. Not like she was one to get into fights even before she'd gotten with child.

Pushing away from the wall she was leaning against she lifted a hand, giving a little wave, "If you're group is looking for lodging we have some open rooms. Your beasts have to stay in the stables though. Nothing bigger then a person's forearm is allowed inside." Save for two beast, one was merely due to the fact that Branko wouldn't stop following Eira everywhere. The other got a free pass because Rae was a seeing eye dog for her brother. She left those details out though when explaining the rules to the Obans before her though since they were special cases that didn't apply to any but Branko and Rae.

Nuri was busy calming down his two large familiars, so he didn't quite look at the bustling inn until he heard the call of a woman speaking of lodging. Turning his head away from the Limbara, he narrowed his eyes slightly before identifying where the voice had come from. A woman with blue skin was waving from the entrance, and she seemed quite keen on getting their attention.

A Zenian, all the way out here? Well it wasn't abnormal these days to see others traveling near and far. And, maybe she'd give him some hints of the beasts he could find in the bitter north.

As he approached, along with the rest of his small party, he could hear both Eira's rules as well as the whispers and gasps of those around him. His Limbara was a bit of a eye sore, but he was in need of some training so he had to come along.

Out of respect for the people, Nuri quickly identified the stables and let out a low whistle for the two to follow him. Naraka was quick to move, but the Limbara was slow and steady, as if debating. Nuri knew from experience now that the creature just seemed keen to laze about. As they began to settle, and he left some stern instructions for the stable hand, he walked back over to the entrance. It seemed his peers already decided to head inside and get settled in.

Eira was sitting at the bar, her cloak hung up, when she heard the bell over the door chiming. Turning she spotted the Oban with the rather strange looking beasts from earlier. Giving him a smile she called over, "I am going to have to request that you hand over any weapons that you have on you. We check them at the door so that nobody thinks about pulling a weapon over anything foolish." The last thing she wanted was fights to break out and blood to be spilled on her nice hard wood floors.

After making the request of him she found herself studying him closely for a moment. It really was interesting, seeing his group sitting with the others that were in the inn today. The last time she'd seen any Obans it was during one of the battles and this... well, this was a far better sight. How she preferred having everyone just sitting around chatting instead of trying to kill each other. This was how she wanted it to stay now and into the future, peace was better for her business she thought to herself as she leaned back against against the bar, waiting to see if the man would hand over his weapons. If he didn't then she'd just have to ask Gyuri to get them in her stead was all.

Instead of saying anything of the sort she asked, "Will you and your group be staying long? Or just stopping in for a break and a meal? We are currently offering stew made of capramel and either warm tea or water."

As he entered the door, he saw the Zena woman from before, and she was once again gesturing for him to approach. Resisting the urge to sigh (he really wanted to finally sit down and relax) he walked over to where she was settled. At least she was near the bar, which meant he could get a drink if she decided to get chatty. Instead, he was asked to remove his weapons, and he resisted the urge to grit his teeth.

She had a point, but he didn't quite like leaving his whip to the side. He was, afterall, training a Limbara.

"Naturally, however I will need to request to know the location of my whip, considering I use it not only to fight, but to tame and train my creatures. They are no threat, but in case there is some sort of disturbance I will need it quickly in order to calm them down...I hope you understand."

He was respectful over all else, and he made no sound of a threat, however he only held his whip, not handing it over until she said something. Afterall, he really didn't need to sleep on a bed, he could always camp outside if this was a big enough issue.

As she asked the question, he casually shrugged. "This is our first real stop in quite some time, so I'm sure they are keen to spend a few days relaxing. All I care about is space for my familiars and potentially a carrier, if there is one...".

Maybe he could take the time to contact Aseara and let her know where he was. She'd appreciate the communication.

"All weapons that are checked in go on the shelves behind the bar." Eira said, giving the shelves a motion with her hand before she said, "So if you need it you can... wait, tame and train creatures?" Her golden eyes seemed to light up, a curious look in them, as she thought about what that might mean. The man was a tamer and trainer of beasts? Did that mean that maybe she could ask him about Branko? It was something that had her mind whirling with interest. This could be a blessing upon her from Chi, that a beast master would be delivered to her inn just when she needed him. Here was to hoping it was just that, and not just a tease she thought to herself.

Giving a nod of her head as he spoke she said, "We have open rooms, though the question becomes if you and yours want separate rooms or if you don't mind sharing. We have both two bed rooms and single bed rooms." He ws saying that all that he cared about was his familiars and a carrier, which had her thinking on it a moment before she realized what he meant, "Ah! We don't have one here, but the man who delivers supplies from Dernd, he takes care of any messages that go out. He takes them from here to Dernd and they are sent out from there. If you're staying for a few days then you will be able to talk with him."

"Now, this is a deal that would just cover you and your familiars, but I can offer you free room and board while you're here if I could borrow your taming and training skills?"

As she repeated herself, Nuri felt himself begin to space out. It wasn't as if he could do any lasting damage with a whip. His knife, sure, but a whip was more of a sting than anything. At least in his mind; sure he could strangle a person but that just seemed excessive. He caught himself at her exclamation of asking if he was a tamer.

"I am...I have a Janarim and Limbara outside, both tamed and trained..." was his slow response as he wondered if he should be comfortable with the way her eyes lit up.

"Three rooms are enough, two rooms of two and a single. I'm sure our lead wouldn't mind his own space..." Nuri could just room with Eidan, the fellow tamer did like spending the evenings talking about the best way to tame and use the beasts they had already encountered, "...and we will be here a few days, so I anticipate our paths crossing with your supplier. It should give me enough time to write some letters...".

Finally, he handed over the whip to the one who was behind the counter, before turning as Eira began to speak of a deal. She seemed keen to offer free room and board, for training. Now, Nuri wasn't terribly underpaid, and this entire trip was given a stipend of sorts. They spent most of the time on the road, meaning a few days at an inn wouldn't break their budget. Yet, having free housing meant more supplies for their most perilous leg of the journey, Zena.

"I...don't see that being an issue. Although I would be curious to hear more of what exactly you need tamed and trained, and the intent of said taming...".

Eira gave a half shrug of one shoulder, "Not really my place to assume, not when I have see others with various other familiars at their beck and call that weren't offcially trainers. Even my brother raised a raptrix pup and he's a magic user." She explained, waving a hand as though deciding that it was neither here nor there. Nothing save for the fact that this Oban was a real, honest to goodness tamer mattered in this moment. It really was lucky, wasn't it? This really was meant to be she thought to herself in a happy manner before turning her attention to the books, writting down the information that Nuri was saying. Three rooms, two rooms with two beds for the men, one single room for their leader. That done, and the book set aside for the moment, her attention was back on Nuri again.

"Really? Excellent!" She said, clapping her hands together in a delighted manner. As the man asked her about what she needed tamed and trained, as well as the intent she gave a long suffering sigh, "Well, not tamed per say, just trained. Thrice damned beast! It's a giant pervert who won't stop following me around, even breaking the rules of the inn because he's too big for me to throw out on his scaly backside like I did to some sailscales that got in."

Getting to her feet Eira leaned over the bar, checking, then nodded, "There, he's there again! The best that I could do training wise with the idiot is to get him to sleep behind the bar during the busy hours so that he's not... well, as underfoot." She told Nuri, giving the snaptrotter that was laying there a hard look. The only response she got was Branko looking up at her with devoted eyes, his giant tail swishing a bit. A response that had Eira pointing at him, "No! You will not look cute in front of the beast tamer, I am sure he knows all your tricks already, you giant lizard!"

Sitting back down with a sigh she said, "The 'intent' as you put it is simple, since it's obvious he's not going to get lost I want him to pull his substaintle weight around here. I want him to be a 'guard dog' of sorts for my child when its born. There are a lot of dangers in the world and a snaptrotter seems perfect for warning said dangers away from my baby."

It was...a snapptrotter. Nuri had flashbacks of his last run in with such a beast. Although he had tamed and eventually trained the creature, he was well aware of how tricky they could be. His own silver familiar had spent days giving him the run around, and still seemed quite keen to play a little chase instead of focus on what he wanted. It was fast both on land and in sea, so he had to wonder why one would be so far away from its natural environment.

He kept quiet as Eira continued to rant and rave at the creature, but he watched as the creature seemed keen to just blink as if it was doing no wrong. When she finally settled down and expressed her intent, his casual expression showed a bit of surprise, and his eyes darted to her round belly before quickly going back to her eyes.

"Yes...well they are quite the oppressive force."

He scratched his head, before actually standing and leaning over the bar himself to get a better look at the thing. For one so fast, it seemed keen to lounge about, "If you want him to get out of the bar, I'd recommend giving him as close to his natural habitat as possible. A pool perhaps, something shallow that he can lounge in out in the sun. That might get him away long enough for you to breath and properly navigate around the bar."

"Oh we have a pool set up out there, but the only time this pervert shows up there is when I want to take a bath." She muttered, flushing a little, thinking about the various times she'd gone for a soak only to find his beady eyes starring at her from the water in front of her, "I am starting to think he was tossed in the river by someone smarter then me that couldn't deal with him anymore. It's the only thing that explains why he's in Sauti instead of wherever he belongs." He was either born a stalker of women or picked up the habit along the way somehow, either way Eira needed that fixed.

Crossing her arms under her chest, she said, "I can try it though, maybe see about having my brother help to build Branko his own pool, then maybe he won't invade the other one." She'd still put her money on him doing so any time she was present but if saw the other pool as being his 'territory' maybe he'd hang out there more often then behind the bar? How nice would it be too be able to walk back there without constantly tripping over him or stepping on him? Not that he seemed to be that bothered when it was her tripping over him. If anything he was just happy at the attention given to him.

Turning to look at Nuri she wanted for more tips and trips about what she should do with the beast. If the suggestion was 'turn him into boots' she'd be tempted to comply... or at least threaten to. As often as she told Branko he'd make lovely boots she didn't actually want to do that to him. Annoying and perverted, yes, but he was still... pretty okay.

So the thing only wanted to swim with others. Maybe there was something else missing. It liked to follow the woman around, and swam when we swam. It seemed quite content to stick by her side, as if it were a mate or even a child. He knew from research that Snapptrotters were loving parents no matter what sex. Both took responsibility and were fiercely protective.

As she continued to speak, she seemed to think he was male. Maybe he did think of her as a mate, but he didn't seem to be bringing her back any sort of presents or surprises. He kept silent as she thought, and finally let out a laugh through his nose as he shook his head.

"Despite your beliefs, I don't think he is attempting to court you. I'm sure you would have received a few more presents...then again..."

Even if he was a father, he might still have tried to feed her. Maybe he was just a lost little trotter looking for love.

"From my research, Snapptrotters are very loyal to their family, but even more so loyal to their young. He may see you as a replacement to a mate left at home, and is attempting to possibly protect you in the process. You say you are going to be having a child soon and you want him as a guard?"

"He's not?" Eira asked before giving a sigh of relief, "That's good to hear." The last thing that she needed as a love struck snaptrotter following her around for the rest of her life. She had far more important things to do then to be a lizard's wife. As Nuri explained to her that snaptrotters were a loyal beast that was possibly wanting to protect her she glanced in the direction of Branko for a moment before nodding. She supposed she could allow that...

At Nuri's next question she nodded, "Well, I'm guessing that you must have done a bit of traveling in your time, am I right? You know how dangerous the world can be. It seems prudent to get my child a guardian beast, just to be safe." She'd seen more then enough in her time to know that just leaving her child aline wasn't something she wanted to risk even if she didn't plan to do much in the way of traveling now that she had her inn up and running. Giving Nuri a smile she said, "I feel that if Branko is going to be hanging around anyway that it would be a good job for him to take on. That is if he can be trained for such a role?"

She supposed there was always the chance that he was too old and set in his ways to be trained for another job. It would have helped getting him as a little hatchling, but that wasn't the way the cards had been dealt. Instead she'd ended up with a grown up monster as her stalker and apparently would be protector.

Nuri nodded, and realized how fortunate she really was. She may be looking at it in the wrong way, but having a snapptrotter as a potential guardian for a child was quite the stroke of luck.

"It is very likely that he wont need much training at all. If he is used to you, and willing to hover, I'm sure he could easily see your child as one of his own. He will both care and protect such a thing, as most snapptrotters are doting parents."

Yes, she was quite lucky to have chosen, or stumbled upon, such a beast.

"In the meantime, I can attempt to train him on behavior...but it would be easier if we had an actual location for him to recognize as his space. I know our time is limited, but I'm sure I can lay a foundation for you to easily follow."

One of his how? That was an interesting thought... so long as Branko would remain as a doting and protective 'parent' then Eira would be fine with the arrangement. So long as the beast didn't attempt to teach her child strange things. Her heir didn't need to learn how to catch fish with his or her teeth after all. Still, knowing that her child would be protected helped to put Eira at ease. Giving a smile she said, "I am glad to hear it. I am only one person and I am not a fighter, knowing that Branko will assist me is a load off my mind." Sure, they had some fighters and some magic users in the group, but it was different then being one herself.

Giving a smile Eira said, "Anything that you can do to make him that much more adept at his future job sounds good to me. If you think he needs space of his own, even his own pool, I am sure that it can be arrange. My brother created the last one so I am sure he can create one for Branko as well. What else do you think he will require?" Their time was limited he said, but he also said that he'd be sure to lay a foundation for her to follow, something that had the dancer smiling brightly, "Excellent!" Chi be praised that such a fellow ended up on her doorstep. Once the foundation was laid then she had a few months yet to get into the groove of following it.

Only a few days would really do nothing for the lazy snapptrotter. Nuri wasn't certain she would like to hear it, but he realized she needed to actually accept the thing a bit if she wanted it to become 'part of the family'.

"Well...I would suggest trying to keep him involved with the baby. He most likely knows you are pregnant anyway, and is sticking close for some reason around that. As you get closer, maybe making sure he is around would assist. It is especially important after your child is born. If you dont feel comfortable letting him see the child, at least introduce him to articles of clothing that has your child's scent. He will associate one in the same."

He gave her a meek look.

"Basically, you may have to actually start acknowledging the animal..."
