 It was a rare occasion when Kieran was by themselves and not with their twin sister. Today Pherein was in a class Kie had not attended; sometimes they were separated so they would actually pay attention in class. It wasn't very comfortable to be away from their twin, in all honesty, and Kie switched their tail as the meandered around the courtyard. Maaaaan were they bored. Being without Phe was hard.
Grumbling to themself, Kie dug into their pocket, pulling out a bag of candy they had left over from the Solstice event. That had been fun. Getting new toys, seeing daydreams, meeting other people. Like that one Chimera kid...what was his name? ...Something. He'd been cute. Shy, and quiet, mostly, or at least he had been when Kie and Phe had basically bum-rushed him in a crowd. Kie snickered at that thought and turned a corner...and saw him. That same Chimera kid. Talk about speaking of the demon.
Kie felt something weird happen, an odd tightness around their chest. Were they...were they actually happy to see someone other than Phe or their friends? How odd to feel so about someone they'd only met once. And in passing no less. Kieran frowned, part of them wanted to run away from the weird feeling. A different part wanted to go and talk to the Chimera with the teeny wings. That's the part the demon listened to and, shoving the candy back in their pocket, headed to go talk to the boy.

 Baum sighed and shuffled his books before giving up the ghost and finally stopping in the hallway to put them in their backpacks. They were supposed to be waiting for Kadali but lately she kept on getting separated with him and then spending the day with leif… who Baum had yet to meet and wasn’t all too sure he liked. Oh well he supposed it was time for the two to become their own people and separate. He supposed all twins went through it, especially fraternal twins. However unlike his sister Baum didn’t have any other friends. Was it wrong that he was still clingy? It had only been the two of them for so long the other kids teasing them about their origins and their mutations. However that wasn’t entirely true was it. Leif obviously didn’t mind that Kadali was different, although he could have sworn his sister saying something along the facts of he was a mutant too. There were that pair of twins during the festival that hadn’t given one lick that baum was different. Of course he wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about the whole thing. He had been uncharacteristically silent during the thing but then again he had kind of just been dragged along without any say. It hadn’t been an unpleasant experience to say the least….It was then that Baum caught a glimpse of purple out of the corner of his eye and turned to see the demon that he had just been thinking about… well one of them at least. “uh…. Hi?”

“Well, hi there!” Kieran called out, heading down the hall they'd entered towards the Chimera. Kie wondered if said Chimera even remembered them? Probably a little bit, since he'd called out a greeting. Still, Kie decided reintroducing themselves, “I'm Kieran, we met at the party!” Kie smiled warmly, keeping a bit of distance this time; they remembered that the Chimera was a little shy at first. Hopefully they'd reintroduce themselves as well, though, cause the little demon really didn't want to admit they'd forgotten the cutie's name.
“Did you just get out of class or are you going to one?” Kie asked, indicating the backpack the other had. Kie had a free period, but that didn't mean that everyone had one. Although, why else would the Chimera kid be wandering around the school. Potty break? Kieran's lip twitched in an effort to not burst out in giggles; inappropriate and completely apropos of nothing they'd been talking about. No need to have to explain it to the other Nightmare.

 Maybe Kieran hadn’t really been coming over, but he had enough dealings with Pherein lately that Baum didn’t entirely believe that statement. Still a slight nervousness went through him as Kieran walked over. No.. Kieran hadn’t done anything to warrant that feeling. In fact the demon was being rather warm and making sure to stay out of Baum’s personal bubble. “We did. You and Pherein dragged me around said party. I’m Baum” Baum was a little confused why they were giving their names to each other again, but then he couldn’t really recall if Baum had actually given his name during the party. Ah well. “Ah just got out of a class. Next period is a study period and as long as we make it by the end of class” Baum stated. His eyebrow rose at kieran’s twitching. No… no he didn’t want to know. Although he supposed that it was his turn to toss the ball back. “So how about you? Getting ready for your next class?” he was careful to not mention Pherein remembering the red haired twin’s ire at always assuming the two where together.

 Baum. That was his name. Kieran made sure to store it away this time. "Oh, good, you remember us. I wasn't sure if you would; we did only meet the one day." Kieran gave a small, wry, lopsided smile. "Sorry about the dragging, we can get a little...overly assertive sometimes when we find a new t-- friend." Kie closed their golden eyes for a moment at the stupid near slip-up. They might go around calling people toys to irritate them, but they didn't want to irritate Baum.
"Oh." Kieran replied in response to the Chimera saying he was going back to class. "Ever think about skipping? Just one day? I have a free period and don't have a class for another hour or so because they separated me and Phe today. Perhaps we can hang out for a bit instead?" Kie tried very hard to be nonchalant and keep the hopeful tone out of their voice. They definitely wanted to spend more time with the cute Chimera, but pride said not to be too pushy.

“Well I have a pretty good memory and you’re also in a lot of my classes or at least Pherein is. Plus a lot of the class knows you from all the pranks you two pull” Baum replied choosing not to dwell on the word he was pretty sure was the start of toy. After all he was used to Kadali’s antics, although Kadali didn’t normally go around calling him a toy either. Still considering half of the people called him a trash baby due to said Kadali antics, well toy wasn’t so bad. What was it with both twins and trying to make him skip class? But it was really a study period and he had pretty good attendance. He supposed this once he could skip the class. “Well I am a kid, I do think about skipping a lot, but then I’m also a scholarship kid and since I don’t have a family I kind of need that scholarship to pay for school… but I guess I can skip. This once” He emphasized the once

Kie pouted a little bit. "Phe and I aren't the same person. We're twins and similar, but we're different too. She's got red hair, after all." They said, adding the joke to make the tone of the conversation stay light. Baum had just agreed to hang out, Kie didn't want it to be lame. "I'm glad I'm infamous for my pranks, though." Kie tossed his head and grinned proudly.
"We don't have family either, so you're in good company." Kie said, finally crossing the small distance and patted Baum on the shoulder and completely ignored the stressed 'once'. "And you wont lose your scholarship for skipping as long as you keep your grades up, Einstein. Come on, I know a cool place to go. Er...are you okay with heights? Cause I actually know of two cool places."

Baum’s wings fluttered a bit as he tugged on the bottom of his shirt. “I know. I’m a twin as well and I didn’t mean to implicate that you are the same person. I just... it’s just… Pherein talks about you a lot since you’re close siblings was… I’m just going to stop”. Ah he needed to stop messing up. He had messed up a while back with Phe too. “oh well you definitely are infamous for that.” He could make the argument that what if because he was skipping he missed something they put on a test and then he flunked it and then his grade suffered but… he didn’t want to seem nerdy or something so he just make an angry pouty face. “I’m fine with heights. I mean I know my wings are useless” he flapped them for emphasis, but I’m still Chimera enough to love heights. Sooo lead away”

Kieran blinked, Phe talked about them? To Baum? Kie's eyes got wide at that and they started to blush and something in their stomach flip-flopped. What had their sister been saying. "O-oh, well. I...didn't know she was talking about me. I take it back, I can see how it seems I'm there when I'm not if she's..." Kieran stopped and coughed. They needed to get off this subject before they made a big fool of themself.
"Right! So, heights it is!" Kie watched Baum flap his teeny wings and barely stopped himself from petting them. They were so cute and Kie was apparently super weird. "Come on, we have to be quiet, though. We're not technically allowed up there." Kieran lead Baum up to the highest point of the academy grounds. There was an amazing view from the roof up there; you could see everyone scurry around the campus and out over the wall that separated the academy from the town. Kieran liked going up there to think and get away and they wanted to show Baum their favorite place.

Baum had to hide a smile. A flustered Kieran was kind of… in a way cute. However he knew he felt when he learned his sister had been talking about him and reacting to the whole scenario would just fluster Kieran more, or well it would have flustered him more. “I promise Pherein only said nice sibling things” Baum replied. It wasn’t much but he didn’t want Kieran to think Pherein had been teasing or saying mean things. Of course it was against the rules to go up there. He was starting to sense a pattern here, but at the same time there was something in Baum that was just perfectly fine with getting away with that. He nodded showing Kieran could be quite and followed the demon to the spot. “you were right. It really does have a nice view” he replied looking out at the school grounds below.
