Having successfully evaded the family that was babysitting for some alone time, didn't they understand alone time?!, Arron had managed to find the lake that Sauron had spoken of one night at dinner where all the little fishies were. Arron dangled precariously from a branch and sat mesmerized as all the colorful fenk and menk danced in the water before his eyes. He wanted one. The shifters had one there were fishies all over that house. So he took a peice of string and a caterpillar and hoped that what went inside the fish's mouth had a harder time coming back out.
Now a kid hanging awkwardly out of a tree was ostentacious enough without it being a wierd hybird with no shifter or alk or anything of the sort at all. He had gained much skill with climbing and chasing things in the past little while and now hung half out of the tree like it was no big deal.
Eventually someone clever would figure out where he had gone but for now he was fishing and it was glorious.

Arron's sudden disappearance caused a bit of a panic, easily enough. Little kids ran off all the time though, Vuka thought. He and Vallen had done it themselves as younglings, but of course they had had the foresight to make it back before his parents noticed. The child had gone and every member of the rather large household had gone off looking. Vuka wandered with sight only for spectacular things, things that might draw a child in. They'd find him eventually, even if he just came back on his own. Vuka, perhaps more than the others, understood the necessity of alone-time.
It would be hard to miss the little hybrid dangling from the trees, however. Vuka smiled and approached slowly, making sure his footsteps were heard as he came nearer so as to not startle Arron. At first he just stood at the lake's edge, peering down at the fish swimming about, and only after a bit of a silence did he peer up at the child.
"Everyone's looking for you." There was no reason to accuse the little one of being bad or trying to guilt him with how worried everyone had been; Vuka had just offered the facts.

Arron turned his head, ah it was his favorite, good. Vukasin had a calm attitude that reminded Arron of his long lost father. "Hi, as you can see I was fishing, I want a menk, but so far..well no luck." He spooled up his string and crawled to the tree. "I just wanted some alone time you know, no offense but your brother and sister...the older sister are a little hard to be around when they start to argue." Arron shrugged. The little sister was cute but she pouted a lot. "I don't want to worry people but I like alone time once in a while you know?" He hoped Vuka knew, Vallen sure didn't he needed to be in all the stuff all at once with that sharp tongue.

"What would you do with it once you caught it?" Vuka asked. He'd seen menk for sale at festivals in little glass jars but he didn't imagine they'd last very long in the hands of a child... unless, of course, Arron had taken a vessel too. If so, good on him for thinking ahead.
The Shifter nodded at the sage youngling while he near begged for understanding. "Of course I do, but said siblings are also the type to panic when you go missing," Vuka said with a little smile, "If you want alone time, you can always ask me and I'll leave you be and ensure sure the others don't coming looking at the same time." It wasn't really alone time, per se, but he didn't mind sitting a ways away and letting Arron do his own thing. The poor kid had been through some terrible things, as far as he knew. It only made sense that he'd want some alone time.

"Put it in a smaller pond and go find a container for it. Didn't bring one with me." He crawled out of the tree and walked closer to Vuka, "Oh thank you that would be wonderful, they just like never stop talking you know?" He grinned. He had never been that much of a chatterbox and Seze could talk the ear of a fish. Who didn't even have ears. "They have too much energy I think, it spills over and they aim it at each other. How is your mama and papa so calm and those two are just crazy?" He asked curiously, would Vuka have a good answer for that hard question. How well did he know his siblings? Arron was kinda sad he wouldn't get to know his own twin as he grew. Even his mother was sure they were gone.

Well, that was a reasonable enough answer. It suggested to Vuka that the youngling hadn't necessarily left the house with the desire to catch a fish. It sounded like he'd left just to get out.
"I know," Vuka said with a little laugh, "They've always been that way. I think now, though, they're trying to keep you occupied and entertained. They don't want you thinking about the hard things." He nodded and moved to the edge of the water, staring down. They could probably catch one if they tried hard enough, but how would they get it home? It made the most sense to go home first, get a jar, and come back but then poor Arron would have to hear it all again, so maybe some other time. Not right now.

"Those hard things are really my concern, trying to prevent someone from thinking about such thing doesn't really work it just makes me want to run." He poked a small pebble with a foot. "I'll have to deal with it at some point, much better to do so outside in the sun then in the dark in bed don't you think?" He was no more fond of night terrors then anyone else was. "If I ask for help that's different though," he hadn't had the typical childhood that was for sure, but if everyone put a frowny face on all the time it would just make things worse. And blatantly trying to make him forget seemed a little manipulative if he didn't really want to or was it he just didn't want to be manipulated? Arron was now confusing himself.

"I know. They're just trying in whatever way they can. They think you're a hurt little kid, but I think you understand more than they're willing to accept." He pondered for a moment how asking for help might go, and then continued. "I think it would shock them if you asked for help. They just assume you need it."
He felt bad for the kid. he wanted to do something nice for him.
"Hey, what do you say I run back and get something to put a fish in? Then you can have your own. Just stay up in the tree. I'll tell everyone you're safe and to stay away." He thought his siblings trusted him, at least. "Then we'll catch one."

Arron was touched, and excited, Vuka was the answer to all things awesome and Ar scrambled up the tree and promised he wouldn't move unless he was about to be eaten. He would just hang out and pick a fish to chase, yes thats what he would do, while the older boy braved the scary shifter village full of deranged siblings to get him his very owl bowl for his very own fish, needless to say he was delighted with this new turn of events. "Be safe on your way," he was prudent to add. It wouldn't do to loose yet another adult, he thought darkly.

"Don't worry," Vuka said, "I used to come here all the time. I may be a while. Please do wait."
With that Vuka left, heading toward home. He told those family members still in the house that he had found Arron, that he was safe and they were going to spend some time together. Alone. He took a bowl from the kitchen and headed back out, first going in a different direction and then doubling back in case anyone decided to try and follow. When he arrived back at the pond, he peered up into the tree. "Hello?"

Arron popped out of the tree and looked down. "Didja get the bowl?" He asked excitedly, this was going to be so much fun, "Would you like a fishy too Vuka? We could catch two if you liked?" Arron shimmied down the tree to inspect the fish vessel, sturdy and clear he felt it would work wonderfully. He waded into the water, "I had a pretty bluish one all picked out now where did it go?"

Vuka held the bowl up for Arron to see when asked but didn't offer it to him until he was on the ground. It wouldn't do to have the youngling break the bowl, more for the kid himself than his family. They could always buy more bowls.
"Here," Vuka said then, pulling a bit of stale bread from his pocket. "Once you see him, you can put some crumbs in the water and they'll all go after it. You might just be able to scoop a bunch up and let the rest go. I brought enough if we need to try a few times. If that doesn't work, we can always use that string you had." He began to break the bread up into tiny pieces.

Vuka was brilliant, "Okay I'll spread the crumbs and you scoop.' He waited for the blue fish to come an check them out, "There he is Vu, I see him by that plant." Arron sprinkled some crumbs which prompty drifted away from each other on the water, the fish came up and inhaling a huge breath of air, Arron said, "Now!" He got his hands out of the way and watched the fish swim into the perfect spot. His eyes so wide they looked like they were going to pop out of his head.

Vuka nodded and poured the handful of crumbs into Arron's smaller hand. He nodded again when Arron pointed the fish out. Ears or not, fish could feel vibrations and he didn't want to scare any fish away with his voice. He stood behind the bluish fish (and really 'bluish' was the best word he could think of to describe it as well) and, when it came up for air, carefully dipped the cusp of the bowl into the water and scooped him right up, crumb and all. Vuka smiled.
"I've got him." He held the bowl out for Arron to see. "That is him, right?" They could always try again.

"Was that really that easy?" he asked peered in at the fish, "Yup thats him alright! Do you want one too? We could try the same thing with a bit of cloth and just put them both in the same bowl." He wanted Vuka to be happy too, he deserved some fishy love for being so clever. Arron put a finger in the bowl and wiggled it, the fish swam right up to see what was going on and the little youngling giggled. It would be the first giggle that Vuka would have heard out of him most likely.
