User ImageThe colors of an evening sunset decorated the large rocks as a raging fire. Ever so slowly a lioness stepped from the shadows to walk along this shining path with the ocean waves crashing below her. Before she had always gazed at the home of the priestesses from her shadows with envy, but now her life was changing. Her special appearance and the odd gifts of luck, good or bad, that she managed to bestow on others had been noticed. With time the call for new priestesses in the pride had finally come and so Eris had found herself pulled out of her shadows into this new path. She had never been a coward yet the idea of being a reaver had never appealed to her. There were much more important things to learn in this life for her.

Still even knowing that she was finally to be accepted as a priestess created a knot of nerves in her chest. There was so much to learn! Then came the question of who it would be waiting for her. The lioness who would teach her...would the experienced priestess accept her? It still felt, after all, as if this was a dream to be shattered at any moment. It would be so easy to turn away now and just go back to living in her shadows of the pride...

Eris gritted her teeth. She was a Stormborn and it was finally becoming time for her to act like it. Courage and determination shined in those eyes as she moved forward.. She could do this, it was time to finally prove herself to the pride. Finally the gods were giving her the chance to walk her true path. If she dare turn her back on these things now then surely she would be condemning her own life away. One never questioned the gods after all, not unless they were willing to put up a fight for it. And to be given a gift like this? Eris knew better than to reject it. I just hope that I can prove myself to everyone else that I can do this. Holding onto that determination the lioness finished walking up the path towards where the priestess would await.

Smoke and shadows wreathed the air, accompanied by an eerie call, the owner of which was well hidden in the forbidding trees that stood tall and proud, silhouetted against the darkening sky in ranks of sharp-spiked shadows that swayed in the stiffening breeze. The particular priestess who lived up among these peeks at the very edge of the Stormborn's ocean-edged territory was one around which rumour and myth had grown thick and strange. Born of the forests, they said. The illegitimate spawn of the old Warlord, begat upon an unholy creature of the wild, its fur the colour of fire and its ways unknowable to mere mortals. The litter that had eventually been brought back to the pride had indeed been strange, many of them coloured like burnished copper, all with Aesir's distinct markings upon their fur. And each of them seemed to carry a touch of the forest with them, a sense of something different. But one, more than the others, displayed this trait, this 'fey-blood' strangeness. The cubs had grown, and with their growth came a series of unusual events, banishment and exile, discovery and haunting. Death and danger. When at last the banishment had been lifted by the new Warlord Ruzski, only a few of the strange forest-born litter returned. One was the Priestess Ember. Fur the colour of shadows, with fire caught in her mane and tail, the sense of otherworldiness had always been strong but it was as if the banishment into the foreboding forests had increased her powers. For she returned different.. more intense and more unfathomable to the pride. Some feared her, feared what she could do with her powers, others revered her, but all respected her. The Priestess order was never to be taken lightly, for they controlled strange and occult powers, but of them all, Rävasz Ëmber, daughter of the Warlord and the forest spirit, was by far the least knowable.

As Eris drew closer to the den of the Priestess, strange music seemed to tease through the mist and shadows of night. It was oddly pleasant, a soft and subtle hum accompanied by lyrical chimes. A small fire burned, caged in stone, and beyond, revealed in the flickering flames, was the dusky shape of a lioness, bright golden eyes of fire burning in the darkness as she watched Eris approach.

"Welcome, sister." She purred, her voice surprisingly deep, a rich and husky sound that almost felt more like a physical caress than anything merely heard on the air.
