With her scarf done, Ichil moved on to the most difficult portion of her outfit; the skirt. A blouse might be difficult for the sleeves and the fit of the bodice, but this skirt had to be many things. It had to be light. It had to be slinky. It had to be flowing. It had to be swishy. It had to swirl in that perfect way when she twirled. This was for a special event after all, and Ichil could never go an entire event without dancing! It had to be flattering but useful and not too long that she might step on it in her celebration. Only practice could create a skirt with all of these characteristics for less than a designer seamstress' shop. She stood before the mirror in her room and wrapped the length of fabric around her waist where she wanted it to sit. She pinned the back the best she could to mark the cut, then returned to her bed with a pair of shears and did just that. Then it was back to the mirror, this time to get the proper length. She folded a generous top hem to be altered later if she messed up at the bottom and pinned it all the way around, and then moved to the bottom and made a much smaller hem, then it was back to bed to sew. It'd be much easier with a pedal machine but she couldn't be seen doing what she was. Hems were adjusted, buttons were added, and Ichil tried on her final product before embellishments. Ah, yes. This was perfect! She swished it and swirled it in the mirror and giggled delightedly, then clapped her hand over her mouth. No, no, it was far too late to make any noise! She admired the way it fit her hips and turned to see if it complemented her bum before carefully slipping it off and moving on.
