The common rooms of the Deus dormitories were exactly that: common areas for people to gather in and spend time together in. While not particularly big, they at least had a few couches and squashy chairs to settle in and relax.
Curled up in one of said chairs was a certain October Flynn, who was sitting sideways in it with his legs draped over one of the armrests. His hands were folded together on his stomach, head tilted back over the other armrest, and his 3DS was open on his chest, though the screen was blank.
The usual bandanna he wore was tugged over his nose and mouth, but October's eyes were closed, and he was quite obviously sound asleep, snoring lightly.

Micah had a purpose in his visit to the common room. Said purpose involved the vending machines on the far wall. He headed across to the machines, dropped coins into one, thumped it to get the bag of chips he'd bought to drop down into the slot where he could reach it, and turned back to head back to his room. Then he stopped, registering the person draped over a chair, bandanna over his face and snoring lightly. It wasn't like it wasn't possible. In fact, it would be weird if nobody else had made it here from Delta City. But it still seemed pretty damn weird. "October?" he said loudly. "That you?"

October did not hear the footsteps, nor the sound of coins being dropped into the vending machine, nor the thumping of a fist on the front of it to get the snacks free. He remained sound asleep, still snoring, at least until there was a voice somewhere near his feet.
It took a moment for it to register, and October stirred, blinking blearily.
"Not home, leave message at the beep," he mumbled, rolled over, and curled sideways in the chair, promptly falling asleep once more.
Approximately twelve and a half seconds later, his eyes snapped open and he turned his head, looking owlishly up at the young man from behind electric blue rimmed glasses.
"Micah?"

It was definitely October. It was even more definitely October, because the former Apartments faction leader mumbled something about not being home and leaving a message and went right back to sleep. Micah stood there for a few seconds, surprised and yet not surprised at all.He had just decided to go on back to his room and have his damn chips in peace when October woke back up for real this time, having registered his presence. Micah said, "Yeah, it's me. You survived too, cool."

October struggled to sit upright, shifted wrong, and toppled out of the chair entirely. Tangled in his own clothes, it took him a moment to get back to his feet, readjusting his glasses to sit properly on his nose once he managed it.
"I didn't think," said October, as though all of the above had not just happened. "that anyone else survived, other than, erm, myself and Brie, that is."
He couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness mingled with the swell of surprise and pleasure at these words. October picked up his 3DS from the floor where it had fallen and slowly closed the screen, giving Micah a slight smile that wasn't actually visible from beneath the bandanna.
"How are you? Have you been well? Have you been here long?"

Micah contemplated offering a hand, but decided instead to pretend the clumsiness had not happened, for the sake of everyone's pride. "Brie's here too?" he said instead. "I haven't seen anyone else." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, feeling a little awkward, surprisingly a little sad. I guess a lot of people died. That was ... kind of confusing, actually, now that he thought about it. He didn't remember anyone dying, not after they'd gotten rules and safety stuff set up; in that last month, they'd had very few losses. "I'm ok. I've been awake about ... six weeks? Almost two months," he corrected himself. He added, unnecessarily, "I got a weapon," and then felt a little stupid, because everyone here had a weapon. "How've you been?" He hesitated, then asked, "Do you remember what happened?" He was starting to feel as though his memory was missing something. The end of the month they'd lived through was strangely hazy, and twice now someone had mentioned something to him that he didn't recall.

Micah's pretending that the fall had not happened was much appreciated. October felt a slight smile tug at his lips, hidden by the cloth, at the mention of Brie. "She's here, yes," he said, straightening one of his shirts that had twisted around in his clumsiness. "She's been, er, a bit busy lately, but see I was stuck in a pod accidentally and put to sleep and she found me, and, well, here we are."
He didn't want to think about all they had lost; about how his faction had fallen apart, how he'd let them all down by not saving the ones that were not here. October swept some of his long, dark hair out of his eyes and nodded, twisting the strands between two fingers.
"I've just been, er...doing my own thing, really," he said. "And I've got a weapon as well, a sword...thing. Her name is Tuesday," October supplied helpfully, which was probably not very helpful to anyone other than himself. "What sort of weapon did you get?"
Micah's question made him wilt slightly. "I remember..." said October slowly. "being in the faction. And I remember...well, I remember, you know, people. But I don't remember being put into a pod, or even what happened much after that."

"Good to know some others got through," Micah said, and shifted awkwardly from foot to foot. He took up the next subject gladly. "I got a bladed whip. Her name's Nova." He pulled his right hand out of his pocket and held it up so October could see the delicate swirled-silver bracelet with its large oval of green amber; it looked a little odd on the stocky, casually dressed young man, but he was aware that Nova would shriek in his head if she wasn't shown off. "I don't remember getting put in a pod either," he said, frowning. "And, um. You don't remember ... vines, right?"

A bladed whip sounded way cooler than just a measly sword. October peered at the bracelet with curiosity, head tilted to the side. "It looks pretty nice, though," he said, then reached beneath his bandanna and tugged out a necklace to show Micah.
"Yours looks a lot better than mine, I mean," he said. "Mine just...looks ridiculous. But, well. Can't change much."
He shifted from one foot to the other and frowned slightly, October's brows drawing together.
"The, er, pod thing was apparently an accident," he said. "And as for vines...I...well, no, not vines, except...except maybe? I thought - I thought it was just a dream or something, but..."
He trailed off awkwardly, confused.

THANK you, Nova purred. See. He know pretty when he see pretty!"She looks nice," Micah said, partly out of politeness and partly because he knew it would make Nova huff with vague outrage. It did, and Micah suppressed a smile. "I don't know how I got in a pod, I got told that it's something that people agree to." Micah shook his head. He hesitated at the mention of just a dream, the phrase jogging something in his head. "I ... might have had a dream or something. I think I'm missing something." He touched Nova's bracelet, and remembered what Horace had asked him. "What's the last day you remember? Like, the date."

"Tuesday, is, er, a bit loud, but otherwise pleasant," said October, absently twisting the necklace in his fingers. He was more pleased to see Micah than he'd let on initially; the faction was long broken, but he had cared deeply for all who had been in it, even if he'd never showed it.
He should have showed it. October pushed that thought away.
"A dream?" he repeated, brows drawing together, and he pressed his lips together, trying to remember. It was hazy, the thoughts unclear and shifting so that he couldn't quite put all the pieces of the puzzle together, which was endlessly irritating.
"I...don't remember," he said, which was not exactly unusual for him, but here it was frustrating. "What's the last date you recall?"

"Nova's loud," Micah said, and the mildly grumpy tone in his voice suggested that this was not always a good thing. "She's got opinions about things." "Middle of September," he said, and nodded. "Like, the fifteenth, sixteenth, something like that. Not sure exactly, I kind of lost track of time that month." He frowned more deeply. "I thought I was just in a pod after that but Horace was telling me people didn't get picked up till some time in October, as far as he knew."

"So does Tuesday," said October sagely. "If you ever want to have a spar, or, er, whatnot, so they can get some of that loudness out, we could do that. I'm still sort of getting used to the fact that I have a weapon that doesn't keep the rain out."
He sounded a little despondent, lamenting the loss of his umbrella, but was sidetracked from this by what Micah was saying. October's face screwed up in concentration, trying to figure out the timeline of events that made sense.
"I think mine...is the same," he said slowly. "Middle of September and then...and then waking up, in the pod. And falling onto the floor."
October scratched his head in confusion. "I don't - I don't understand. What happened after that?"

"Yeah, sure. They put me in Moon, so I guess I gotta learn to fight better," Micah said, his voice taking on a familiar note of complaint, the kind that meant he would do what was being asked of him anyway, even if he was grumbling about it. He shook his head. "I don't know. We're missing something. Something to do with vines? I don't really understand. Hey, are there any other people from Delta who made it besides Brie? We could ask them and see if anyone's got that chunk of time."

October was very familiar with this tone, mostly because he used it himself most of the time. Doing things was on the list of October's Top Ten Things He Didn't Like to Do, after all, followed closely by anything at all and being awake.
"I don't know how to fight either," said October sagely, and then wilted slightly, his shoulders falling.
"I, er...I think there are a few others not from the Apartments that might be here?" he said, fiddling with his bandanna. "I just know Brie, but I've heard talk that there are some from the other factions or bases that are around, or whatnot. Maybe we can figure out where the vines come from."
