So this is just an RP idea I got from seeing the spartacus commercials on TV, but I realized would be pretty interesting for a story. Between 'royals' who attend the games, the gladiators who 'play' them and the other figures in between. I think sticking to the romanesque style would be better for this RP, so katanas or ninja style fighting wouldn't exactly be considered conventional. Anyone else interested?

Ya, I rarely see anything close to this but I think it'd be a great RP setting when done right.

That's the idea. The nobles would be sponsoring a chosen gladiator throughout their tournament, something like the capital during hunger games although no helpful gifts in the games. While the gladiators fight for their lives, the nobles would be betting who wins. I'm thinking either we have it so that gladiators fight NPC's so that player characters don't for just fighting, or the games are lighter where it's beat down the competition.
It will also be more fantasy based so monsters such as chimera appear instead of enemy gladiators.

You can play as either. Nobles are mostly a passive role, where they 'fund' the gladiators from the stands, while the gladiators actually do the active posts of fighting. I', thinking these will be the only two major roles.
