It wasn't the setup Austin was used to: this was no elaborately decorated winter chalet nestled up the side of a mountain, wasn't artfully prepared with food stations and a manned bar, wasn't crawling with high schoolers dreading the return to school come spring. It wasn't fancy and expensive and big and there was a part of him [a big part of him] that resented that lack of extravagance.
Instead, this was the best he could do. A community room, with the chairs and couches all turned inward in a circle, to face the meager offerings he'd been able to stir up. Two bottles of vodka, one regular and one citron. Eight beers. And a quarter bottle of the cheapest whiskey he had ever smelled.
There was no food, but at least there was a pitcher full of water off to one side. And Austin, settled on the couch with his feet propped on a nearby chair. He'd already started, with a cup of something clear clutched in one hand.

OOC: THE RULES OF FOTCH: assume these are on a sheet of paper somewhere!
Any time you post, draw one card [AKA, generate a number from 1-13, where 1 is ace, 13 is king, 12 is queen, 11 is jack].
The card you draw determines what you do, according to the following rules:
Ace [one] is wild -- choose any prompt you'd like from 2-10 Two is for you -- assign someone else to take a drink Three is for me -- you take a drink Four forward -- the next person to post has to drink Five busts a jive -- you have to stand up and do a dance move Six gets a fix -- you get a sip of water! this undoes one drink Seven is no heaven -- dare someone to do something. if they refuse, they drink twice Eight is for mates -- pick someone; every time you drink they drink too! Nine bust a rhyme -- everything you say must be said in rhyme for this post Ten goes again -- drink, then draw again immediately Jack [eleven] is no liar -- tell a truth about yourself; anything you'd like Queen [twelve] asks questions -- ask anyone a question; they must answer King [thirteen] rules the castle -- make up a rule everyone must obey*
*this should be silly, like not saying a particular word or ending everything they say with 'according to prophecy'
After 3 drinks, you're tipsy; some mild speech slurring might occur. After 5 drinks, you're drunk: judgment impaired, balance thrown off. After 10 drinks, you're too drunk to continue, and stop drawing cards, only watching others play.
You can post as often as you like, but please don't post twice in a row! At least let one other person interact in between.

Already semi-blitzed, Paige found herself in a room with more booze and some nerdy looking kid. It took her a few seconds to actually hone in on him, and when she did, she graced him with a bleary-eyed squint. "Yooooo," she half-whispered, half-groaned as she slid into the nearest chair she stumbled across. "You got a party going on, or?" Paige downed the second half of the warm beer she carried (if it could even be called beer, Paige considered it nothing more than piss-water) and set the bottle down. It tottered precariously before rolling off the table completely. Paige raised her brows at the kid, and pursed her lips before graciously introducing herself. "Paige." She cleared her throat as those eyebrows crept ever-higher.

There was a pause -- a breath, assessing, Austin's eyes sweeping over Paige like he was judging her worth. Probably, he was. Slowly and deliberately, crossing his legs and rolling the cup in his hand a little before taking another slow sip of his drink. One shoulder raised in a shrug, brief. Agreeing, probably, but in a quiet sort of way. "It will be, I hope." One more beat, and then he jerked his chin to the seat next to him. And smiled. He had a nice smile, at least, when he chose to turn it on. But he was probably not Paige's type.

He could spend another evening at the bar, or he could try something a little different for a change. Different, in this case, was a drinking game and smaller, probably more intimate gathering, and that worked just fine for Zeke. Ever still tied up in work, the Mist had instead felt inclined to reach out to a newly returned Zac, since it didn't seem like he was going to have a whole lot lined up for the evening. Or so he imagined. Either way, he'd asked, and Zac had seemed pleased with the idea, so he'd swing by the pick the Sun up before making his way to the party with the shorter man in toe. He had not expected to see Paige there. The sight of her, when they arrived, was met with a rather startled look before the Mist was moving to drag the girl I to a tight and rather over due hug. ------- Liam arrived on the tail of another couple hunters, and slipped past them as one moved to hug a girl that was already there. A quick scan of the room showed Harper wasn't there yet. Frowning, Liam slid over to stand near Austin, though not too close. He was still miffed about the spar.

Paige let those eyes wander wherever the hell they wanted, and hers did the same - though, to be honest, hers were much less focused. She watched his lips move mostly to gauge the sincerity of his smile (not that she cared how friendly he was being so long as he was being friendly enough to share the booze). "Let's get it <********' started, then," the blonde huffed and moved closer to the chair he'd gestured to. Paige didn't need to know his name to drink his alcohol. Wouldn't be the first time something like this had happened, and it sure as hell wouldn't be the last. She was just about to sidle into the chair when she was wrapped up in a pair of arms that were way, way too familiar, and Paige let out a soft grunt of oh for ******** sake before she begrudgingly wrapped her arms around Zeke and gave him a very light pat on the back. "Hhhheeeyyyy," she grunted, even going so far as to give him a peck on the cheek, "welcome to the party."

Quote: Four forward -- the next person to post has to drink Austin didn't exactly know what was going on, but he knew one thing clearly: it meant that he was in no way the center of attention. So he cleared his throat, loudly, catching Liam by the belt loop to direct him into a seat, and now there were at least four of them. A decent enough start to the evening, enough that they could [as Paige had suggested] get it <********> started. He drew a card, slowly, pointedly, and raised an eyebrow as he held it up between two fingers. "You lovebirds going to sit down and play?"

Zac nodded a bit shy or at least quiet in his greetings to those whom he didn't yet know particularly well. "Sorry in advance mates... not sure I know the game in question, but I'll do my best to pick it up."

"Rules say you drink. So pick it up quick." Austin pushed a drink meaningfully in front of Zac, and then pointed to the deck. Someone else could draw next.

“Bottoms up then mate.” He said and took a drink and tipped back as much as he could. Partly to be a good sport for missing that little rule at the outset. He pulled a face at the taste of it, not entirely impressed by what he’d slugged down. Then he pulled a card. He arched his eyebrows at it and then gave a soft chuckle. "Alright. Anyone who draws a... 6, also has to, tell one truth about themselves." He said and waved the card.

That wasn't the warmest reception he'd gotten from Paige in the past. Zeke withdrew, pale eyes resting on the blonde's face for a second or two, thoughtful, before he was flashing her that same old lazy smile that was so familiar to her. "Good to see you." Something was up, he just wasn't sure what, and now wasn't the time to pick and pry for answers. So a reprieve, at least for tonight. He took the seat beside her after helping himself to a drink, slouching down comfortably, and as Austin forced a drink into Zac's hand, the Mist chuckled, drawing him back with a hand full of t-shirt until the smaller man sank down beside him. Ironic, that the Sun should have the his turn so early, and draw a card so creatively involved. It was going to be a fun night. Zac proposed the new rule, and Zeke reached for a card, glancing at it briefly before laughing and flashing it to the rest of the table. "Well I was never much of a poet, but I if I manage not to show it." ------ Liam let out a soft grunt as Austin hooked a finger through his belt loop, dragging him down beside him. It earned the taller boy the flash of something angry, but it was short lived. Austin hadn't actually done anything worth getting bent out of shape for. Reaching for a bottle, the trainee poured himself a drink and waited, watching the game as it started. And checking his phone periodically for any messages from Harper.

Harper was late, she knew it as she threw the shower caddy back into her room, barely drying herself off as she threw on a sports bra, tank and a pair of shorts and the new shoes Liam had given her for Christmas. It was her fault she had let the dragon keep her busy in training long enough she hadn’t paid any attention to the time until it was too late. Heading out she ran down the hallway only slowing down as she got the stairs heading up she then headed to the common room. A few hunters where already there as a game seemed to have started already as she headed towards Liam wrapping her arms around his shoulders from behind and planting a kiss on his cheek. “Sorry I’m late.”

Quote: King [thirteen] rules the castle -- make up a rule everyone must obey Austin made a disgusted little sound as Harper came in -- not at the girl herself, but at her interaction with the young man to his right. So he drank, one brief drink, card or no, and then reached out to draw a card. His hand slapped against the table as he did, hopefully loud enough to get some attention from the people around him, and then meaningfully flipped it over to reveal the face on the other side -- A king, and it made him look just a little smug. He leaned back, with one last look toward the door, then aside to Liam. "Okay. My rule is you have to baa after you say anything." A thumb pressed into Liam's shoulder as he settled back, looking smug. "Not everyone. Just you."

There she was! Liam's face light up brightly as Harper came hurrying over, and he sat up a little straighter as she draped over his shoulders in a quick hug, planting a kiss on his cheek that he returned before she was able to slip awy completely. "It's okay, you're here now. We only just started anyways. Still on the first round." This came with a gesture of his cup to take in Austin reaching for a card. Everyone's cups were still full, save for any sneaked sipping. He'd noticed the king, but he hadn't thought anything of it, at least not until he felt Austin's attention focus so narrowly in his direction. It was just a feeling, an acute sense of foreboding that sent a subtle trickle of goosebumps up his arms that he couldn't entirely explain. Dread, he told himself, meeting those cold eyes. Then the rule was presented with a press of a thumb against his shoulder. Liam's face fell, brows creasing as dark eyes narrowed. Lamb. The taunt returned to him, made him seethe just a little, but he turned away before Austin would get the satisfaction of seeing it, reaching instead for Harper's hand as he reached with the other for a card. A queen. He lay it down, glancing around at the rest of the gathered hunters until finally settling on the dark skinned Sun with the blue hair. "What accent is that?" He was curious, and why not? Then, because it was a rule, he added a small, short bleat, followed by a sigh.

He had to laugh at the small bleat that poor questioner had to add at the end of his inquiry. He tried to be a bit polite about it at the least but it was still pretty damned amusing, especially with the warmth of that first drink in his stomach to lighten the mood. "Kiwi." He responded out of hand, and then for clarification added. "New Zealand I mean... if you.. yeah." He shrugged at his own stammering and reached for a card. Quote: Three is for me -- you take a drink "Shite, going to get knackered rather quick at this rate." he said with a small laugh and fetched the required drink his card choice assigned him.
