Flight class was over but there was still the matter of clean up. Most of the other seniors had already left, but Mytrax stayed behind. Partly to offer help in getting all the crash-mats back inside storage, and partly to ask the chimera teacher if she could have a make-up session for her less-than-stellar performance. "But you passed, dear," Amihan told Mytrax airily, "You don't really need a make-up class."The younger chimera tried not to frown at her teacher's inability to understand that passing was not what she was getting at. "I am fully aware that I met today's requirement but the standard I wish to meet is my own."

Shard was bored. Bored, bored, bored, bored. Oh and he was also feeling lonely. It was so weird at the Academy, being so isolated and without his usual gang of friends and family. He was starting to have second thoughts about enrolling to be honest. Maybe if he finally made a new friend or two or ten he'd be a lot less antsy and would have an idea what to do with all this energy. In the meantime, he jogged around campus, stopping to watch some of the classes held outdoors. He managed to catch the tail-end of some of the winged students being dismissed by this flighty-looking teacher. All those crash-mats beckoned to the baphomet for some reason though.

Mytrax tried, again, to explain to Amihan why she wanted another attempt at the day's exercise. Grunting, the younger chimera began to roll some of the crash-mats and hoist them onto her shoulders, "I would just like to see if I am able to dance in the air if the steps presented to me were not..." she struggled with the word, "So spontaneously created."
She might have performed better if there had been some choreography involved prior to actually dancing. Left to her own devices, Mytrax would have probably simply swayed from side-to-side, which had not been what her partner intended.
The sound of approaching footsteps had the green chimera growing silent as she turned towards the sound. Instinctively she tensed when she found it was a baphomet.

If Shard noticed any sense of tension from the chimeras, he sure as hell didn't show it. With his easy gait and wide grin, it was hard to imagine that the baphomet had picked up on any discomfort. He waved, "Yo," before pointing to the crash mats they were lugging around. "Bringing 'em in or out?"
He strode forward regardless of their answer and began rolling a crash mat up. Slinging one rolled up mat over each of his shoulders with hardly any effort, the baphomet strode up to them. He didn't seem to share any of the old grudges his race had, but right now, maybe he was just too lonely to let it affect him. "Lemme help."

Before Mytrax could tell the other senior student that she had things well enough in hand, Amihan was far quicker to accept the offer. "Reeeaaallly? That's suuuuper nice of you~" she trilled, happily clapping and gesturing for the baphomet to join them.
The green-haired chimera took a sharp intake of breath but said nothing. After all, Amihan was the teacher and therefore had all the authority to decide. This just meant that Mytrax would have to wait until it was just the two of them again before she could repeat her request. She slipped her tail into the curl of a rolled up crash-mat and lifted. She was now carrying three mats at once.
Obviously she was trying to get this done as soon as possible.

Shard let out an appreciative whistle as the green-haired chimera hefted a third crash-mat. Okay, she was clearly strong and the baphomet couldn't help but wonder just how strong she was. After all, crash-mats were mostly foam yeah? And anyone could carry foam.
He noted the definition of her muscles, it was hard not to given the attire she wore, and thought to himself he'd very much like to see those in action. "What were you using these things for?" he asked conversationally, catching up to the pair as they made their way towards the academy's gymnasium. He purposely positioned himself between the two chimeras, mostly because he liked being in the center of attention and in the center of a throng of bodies.
Alright so two Nightmares did not a throng make but Shard would take what he could get.

Mytrax left the job of answering the baphomet up to the teacher, it was after all because of Flight Class. She was content in keeping her silence as Amihan explained their activity earlier and how it was such a shame that non-winged students couldn't have joined in.
The younger chimera thought otherwise, mostly because it meant there would be fewer individuals to concern herself with. As she, Amihan, and the baphomet began to put away the crash-mats, she caught the shorter nightmare staring at her.
"Is there something the matter?" she asked, trying to keep the suspicion from her voice as her tail swayed erratically behind her.

"Matter? Oh, you mean problem? Naw, ain't no problem here," Shard grinned easily at the chimera. "I just couldn't help but notice you're pretty well built." When the first batch of mats had been put away, and the red-head began to head back out for the other mats, Shard stepped back to lightly bounce in place.
"I've been looking for some action since I got to the Academy, d'ya mind showing me some of your moves?" the glint in his gold eyes suggested that he wasn't talking about dancing. "I mean, since we got the mats here and everything, and a teacher to supervise and stuff."

The chimera stared in surprise at the proposition. She wasn't all that certain how she should react to it really. Granted she'd asked complete strangers to spar with her before but she'd prepared for it at the time. This just came from way out of left field for Mytrax.
"Um," she said so very eloquently, eyes darting to the doorway where Amihan had disappeared out of. The Nine damn it, she needed help! It wasn't as if she didn't enjoy a good spar, and the element of the unknown was always an interesting challenge. Unable to come to a rational conclusion on why she should refuse, Mytrax nodded, "Alright, although it doesn't seem as if we're both dressed for a spar."

Shard couldn't help but laugh at the idea of needing to change into something just to roughhouse. If that was the case, the baphomet would never change out of his "fighting" clothes. He always favored loose and comfortable, outfits that let him move with ease and he wouldn't cry over if they were ruined beyond recognition.
"Dressed shmessed, you look like you can move in whatever you got on." He began to shift his weight from leg to leg, "While we wait for teach to come back, might as well intro myself. I'm Shard," he pointed his thumb at himself. "You are?"

Mytrax shifted uncomfortably where she stood. She didn't know many (or any) baphomets but she was aware of their rather gregarious nature and notorious generosity. Perhaps Shard was simply being overly generous with the compliments? Should she respond in kind? What exactly is there for her to compliment?
"Thank you," she began carefully, "The teacher who just stepped out is Miss Amihan, she's the Flight Instructor for the Academy. And I'm Mytrax," she introduced. "You, uh," her brows furrowed as she tried to find some way to continue the conversation before Amihan realized neither of the seniors had followed her out. "You are certainly full of vim and vigor."

"Why so tense, 'Trax?" the baphomet chuckled, amused at how stiff and formal the chimera was. He wondered if all chimeras were like her, but then again, the teacher was a lot more relaxed. Maybe this one was just shy about sparring?
"You not used to sparring?" the possibility occurred to Shard that she might have gotten those muscles through some other form of physical exertion. "If you ain't, I don't mind calling this off. We can do something else." Amihan's answer of aerial dancing repeated in his head, "Maybe we can dance instead? You could show me the moves you did in class earlier."

"No dancing!" Mytrax yelled with much more force than she intended. Her performance in flight class had not left her in a good mood with regard to the subject of dancing, and she certainly wasn't going to let some non-winged ground dweller know about it. "Sparring is fine, in fact let's establish the rules."
The mien of her stance shifted from nervous to one of aloof professionalism, "I won't be using my wings to fly during the match to avoid any unfair advantage. First one to get three clean strikes wins but our adjudicator will still have the last say," she recited the rules by rote.
And speaking of adjudicator, Amihan finally popped back in, curious as to what the two students were doing.

Shard nodded, eager to get things rolling, "Miss teach," he called out to the red-haired chimera and repeated what Mytrax said. "Adjudicate our spar, yeah? First one to get three clean hits wins, and no flying for my opponent."
Amihan looked puzzled, as if unsure what she just got herself into and whether she could actually stop things. She was more curious on the phrasing regarding flying. Did the baphomet know how to fly? If so, shouldn't he have been in her class? And there were other questions in her head but she ended up ignoring them when Shard suddenly charged for Mytrax.

The chimera Mytrax blinked at first, unaccustomed to her opponents acting without the permission of the spar's adjudicator, but she quickly got into a stance that allowed her to side-step her opponent. She had to admit that the baphomet was fast, really fast, and felt the sharp displacement of air as he rushed past.
Rather than flicking him with her tail, Mytrax leapt back to put distance between them. She wasn't still wholly invested in this spar and thought it best to just tire him out so she could, after all this was said and done, once again focus on getting Amihan to give her a make-up class.
