User ImageRorie had been extremely exhausted after all the festivities surrounding the Solstice. He wanted to sleep for years if he could, so much so that he didn't even stir when light started to come through the windows. He vaguely remembered some statement his caretaker made about him getting a new roommate since they were low on space with all the new Daydreams attending school. The roommate was supposed to be there bright and early, but somehow it hadn't registered to him just how close that time was approaching, either that or he didn't care.

The moment a beam of light began to shine in his eyes, he groaned and pulled the blanket back over his eyes. It couldn't be that late already, right? He was sure he had plenty of time before his new roommate came, so it wouldn't matter if he got just another hour of sleep. He could straighten up the room later.

Nilima would be moving into a dorm at the Academy today! She had been commuting to the school from her Mother's home near Grendel, but she had expressed her desire to spend more time with her fellow students and a little reluctantly Lumi had filled out the appropriate forms to have her daughter moved into one of the dorms. Of course, Lumi still expected Nilima to visit her on the weekends and would likely pop in for plenty of her own visits as well. Ah, parents could be kind of annoying like that she suppose. Oh well, at least her Mommy had promised her cake when she visited!

Nilima was used to waking up early with her Mommy in order to get to school in time for classes. She walked down the halls with Lumi on one side of her and a caretaker on the other. The two seemed to be discussing the benefits of her living in the dorms and were discussing her roommate. She was so looking forward to meeting them!

The caretaker knocked at first and they waited a little bit to hear a reply from the other side of the door. But, after some time passed and no one answered the three assumed that maybe her new roommate had gone out for the morning, probably to get some breakfast from the cafeteria. The caretaker pulled out a key and unlocked the door for them. Nilima was quick to burst into the room and look around at her new surroundings. She was attracted to the empty bed first, that one had to be hers! She ran over and flopped onto the comfortable mattress and when she looked across the room she noticed a lump on the other bed.

"Hey! My roommate is here!" She wasn't exactly quiet when she said that and despite her mother's sushing she made her way over to the other's bed. "Don't you know it's time to be up Roomie?" Her mother and the caretaker were discussing something behind her, but she couldn't make it out, too focused on the nightmare still tucked under their blankets.

User ImageRorie yawned and shut his eyes and before he knew what was going on, he heard noise in his room. Who the hell would make all that racket! Didn't they know he was trying to sleep? He pulled the blankets up more tightly around his head trying to drown out all the sounds but was quickly derailed when he heard someone talking directly to him. He frowned and let the blankets move so he could get a better look, completely taken back when he noticed it was another freshling. Oh crap, had he overslept?! Frowning, he shifted, sitting up. "Uhh.. I am up... it was a test.. You had to find me!" He totally lied, not that he believed the girl would fall for it when his room definitely wasn't the cleanest. He was sure that he might get in trouble from Ava for this. Oh well, he'd figure it out when it happened.

Tilting his head, he pointed toward the two other people in his room. He recognized the caretaker though he had never directly been in contact with the person. "Who is that?" He asked, pointing toward Lumi before drawing in another yawn.

The first thing Nilima noticed about her new roommate when they sat up in bed was the fact that they were Hallowed as well! Well, that was certainly exciting and gave them some things to bond over as well. She had been worried about her roommate possibly being uncomfortable with her mutations (though she personally thought she was super adorable and not creepy at all). That worry flew out the door at the first sight of her roomie's eyes.

She looked back toward the door where her roomie had pointed and instantly knew he was talking about her Mom. Her tails flicked happily behind her. "That's my Mom! Her name is Lumi and she's a suuuuuper cool circus performer!" Nilima looked forward to the day when she could be half as good as her mother with illusion magic. At the moment, she couldn't do anything at all.

"My name is Nilima! What's yours?" She was already way past introducing her other now. She wanted to know all about her new roommate. She hadn't even really noticed the mess quite yet.

Rorie hadn't really noticed that Nilima was a Hallowed, perhaps because to him people were people were people. He knew he sometimes got a lot of flak for that, but he had a hard time seeing anyone as not being who they were. Labels were, for the most part, just a way to create more conflict. Perhaps it was because he was a bit of a lucky one and his parents had never treated him any differently despite the fact that they weren't Hallowed themselves. He knew there were others that weren't near as lucky in that right as he was, and that saddened him more than anything else. He believed that people should be accepted for who they were, not what they were.

He blinked a little at her reply, not really sure where to begin. "Ahhh... your mom? Why is she here?" He didn't want to be rude, but he felt it was a genuine question. His parents had toured the school grounds with him before he enrolled, but they never really visited his dorm. He took a good look at her and nodded slightly, he guessed he could see the resemblance that he hadn't noticed at first. "She's a circus performer? I guess that's cool."

When she began speaking again, he turned his head to look at her, amused slightly that her ponytails were bouncing as she spoke. "I'm Rorie." He answered as if it really didn't matter what his name was. "So why are you staying at the dorms if your mom is close enough to visit?" That was the reason he was here, his parents lived pretty far away and couldn't really visit. He hoped the question wasn't rude though, that wasn't what he meant, he just really didn't know how to put things as politely as he should.

Yes, Nilima's mother really was super cool. Her performances really were something worth watching. Of course, Nilima got her fair share of private performances at home, so it probably skewed her opinion just a bit. "She's just here to help me settle in today!" Nilima had a lot of things she wanted to move from her mother's apartment to her dorm room, that much was apparent as Lumi started to bring in a fair number of boxes, all labeled with the various contents they held.

"I actually wanted to move into the dorms! Of course I still plan on being with Mommy on the weekend! But I want to make a lot of friends, and I thought I could do that easier by living on campus! And plus my Mommy is probably going to be traveling a lot before too long! I'm not sad about it or anything, it's actually really exciting. So, will you be my friend Rorie?" Nilima had only paused once, to take a deep breathe, during that mini-speech. She was a little sad to be leaving home, but it was true that it was her idea to move into the dorms in the first place. It had been a hard decision for Lumi, but she did have a career that she wanted to focus on as well.

"Yeah?" Rorie felt like his question was dumb as soon as it came out of his mouth. Seriously? What were all those boxes for? Why did girls have to bring so much junk with them? He had wanted to say something to that effect, but figured it would get him in trouble so he just shut up. Girls were so weird anyway, and his dad taught him it was better to keep his mouth shut when girls were involved.

He blinked, a little unsure how to comment on her statement. He found the reasoning odd and perhaps a bit convoluted. What kind of person would prefer to put themselves in a dorm room when they had a perfectly good home? He shook his head at himself, deciding to exercise his father's good sense. "I... guess so.. Uh, I mean, yeah." It wasn't like he had much of a choice anyhow, it looked as though he was going to be spending a good amount of time with her from now on, so it was better to make friends than enemies.

"You can have the bed over there and set your stuff wherever, as long as it isn't on my bed or stops me from getting to my bed." He shrugged, sleeping was about all he did in his dorm, and he spent the majority of his days in his room. He hoped the girl wouldn't ruin his sleep too much.

Score! See, Nilima knew this was going to be a good idea. She hadn't even finished moving into the dorms and already she could count on her roomie to be a friend. He seemed like a nice enough Imp, albeit the room was just a tad bit messy and he did seem to have an odd obsession with his bed. Of course, she'd probably be upset if she couldn't make it to her bed because a bunch of her roommate's stuff was in the way.

"Right, I'll keep it to my side. Probably." She could have honestly brought a lot more with her to the dorms. But knowing she'd be home on the weekends and she'd still have access to her many other toys and clothes, she had actually packed rather modestly for herself. She still had more clothes with her than anything else. It was probably obvious to Rorie by the way she and her mother were dressed that fashion was rather important to the two of them. Lumi helped Nilima to unpack and find homes for her few toys, clothes, and school supplies. A fancy top hat and small wand her the finishing touches to her desk, this was an obvious hint toward one of her favorite passions.

Lumi was saying goodbye to her daughter than, giving her a big hug. "Rorie, if you ever feel like going out with us for treats or anything don't hesitate to tag along with Nilima when she visits! Think of me as like a second, third...fourth....fifth..? Parent. Take care of my daughter for me!" Lumi smiled and with one final wave, and just a hint of tears, she closed the door behind her so Nilima could be alone with her new roommate.

"Sooooo, what do you do for fun around here? besides classes, obviously. I've been to those a lot. But I've never lived on campus. So I don't really know what else there is to do...." She stood in the center of the room, looking over at Rorie.

Rorie blinked at her, not expecting that answer. He wanted to tell her to make sure to keep her stuff on her side of the room, but he ended up just sighing and pushing the thought away. Maybe she was just teasing? Or maybe it wouldn't be that big of a deal anyway? If it was... he'd come back to that when it was time. He wanted to get along with her, having a roommate that you hated was the worst and he didn't want that. She seemed nice at least, and maybe she'd be cool to have around. He definitely didn't hate her, but he wasn't sure how he was coming across to her.

When her mother made that statement, he was actually shocked. Had she invited him to their family outings? That was... unexpected! He really did miss his family a lot, he didn't get a lot of chance to see them since they were always on business. So maybe it really wouldn't be all that bad to have a roommate around. "I uhh... Thank you." He said quietly, he wasn't even sure if Lumi heard him.

At her question, Rorie drew in a deep breath and decided that he was going to be friends with her, even if they didn't always get along. He slid off the bed and went to the closet, pulling out a box and shifted around in it, handing her a controller. "Video games! You can pick whatever game you like, if you want to play with me, that is? It'd be nice to have someone to play with for a change." He offered her the box.

Nilima certainly did approve of he Mom's invitation to Rorie, in fact Nilima probably would have just ended up dragging her roommate home with her at some point anyway. She was sure her mother would have been able to handle that spontaneous decision regardless. At least this way Rorie wouldn't have to worry that he would be unwelcomed if her joined.

She was definitely lucky to be rooming with such a cool Imp as well, one willing to play games with her! She had...never really played video games before. She had a hand held, but it would likely be like comparing a candle to a flashlight....Her tails wagged separately at the offer though, she'd obviously have to learn!

"I've never played on a big screen before. I have a handheld...but I don't play it much! So, you'll have to teach me as we go!" She took the box and dug around in it, she didn't know any of these! Oh well, she picked one blindly and before long Rorie was teaching her the ins and outs.
