Dandelion waited patiently at the cafe they had agreed to meet at, thumbs twiddling nervously. While she looked like she wanted nothing more than to bite anyone's head off, Dandi was truly nervous. Her resting face was often off-putting, but she couldn't change it. She was stuck with a face that scared off children and suitors.

So, why had she even considered imbuing a stone in the first place?

Dandi loved children. That, and she didn't have a family of her own. She had been an orphan who was sent to the academy and never adopted. She hadn't been given a Big Sibling. She had grown up completely and utterly alone. Eventually, she became interested in having children of her own. She had, wrongly, signed up for various dating sites only to be told, point blank, she looked angry 24/7 and they weren't interested. Dandi gave up, and for awhile so did her dreams.

Until she saw an ad for a site. It allowed people to meet other people who wished to imbue stones. She could do it alone, but Dandi wanted a partner. Not necessarily a romantic partner, but someone to stand by her along the way. A friend. A close friend, even. Anything worked, really. She just didn't want to do this alone.

And now she didn't have to.

She met someone online and they clicked. They had agreed to meet in-person, and Dandi had chosen a cafe right near the nearest stone bank. Her heart hammered softly as her fingers trailed over her umbrella for comfort, finger tips twitching against the material. Soon, they'd be here, and Dani's entire life would change.

User Image Just breathe, Miah. You're ready for this. You're so ready for this. You'll be an amazing mother, and maybe you'll make a good friend out of all this. You won't be doing this alone, either. She'll be there the whole ride,... hopefully, anyway...

A soft, shakey sigh escaped the imp as she gnawed gently on her bottom lip, her tail coiling around her legs as she paused outside the cafe, staring up at the sign nervously for a long moment, almost unsure if she had the will to step inside.

Before she could talk herself out of the plan however, Miah's legs began to carry her inside of the cafe, to a point where she had a good enough view of the entire room, until she finally saw her. Off to the side, gently toying with her umbrella, stood the very demon she had met online. Suddenly a smile curled on her lips as she slowly began to make her way over, stopping just shy of the other Nightmare.

"D...Dandelion?"

For a second she considered running. Her heart had hammered faster than she thought was possible at that point. It wasn't the fact she was having kids that frightened her; no. It was the fact that whoever she had kids would be with her forever. What if this other person – Miah – was not the person they had promised to be? What if she abandoned Dandelion, or, worse, took the kids from her? What if this was all a ruse and she wouldn't be here? What i-

'Dandelion?''

Her breath caught in her throat, eyes flicking to lock on the person who used her name. It was her, and she looked exactly like her picture. Relief spread over her, as if the picture matching meant they'd work perfectly as parents and the world was fine. They were one step closer to the ideal world she had hoped for.

"Y-Yes, that's me." She stammered, turning a darker blue as she realized her mistake in stuttering. Quickly, she straightened her spine, flashing a soft smile. It was a vague improvement from her usual face, but she wasn't too worried. She had warned Miah she seemed to be cursed with a stiff expression by now.

"Miah, right?" She questioned, despite knowing the answer.

User Image Oh, she could have cried from relief. Somehow just hearing the other speak seemed to soothe all the worries in her mind and body, making her heartbeat steady out. Stepping forward, she lifted her large, fluffy arms, gently coiling them around the other's form, not seeming to have a care in the world for the other's stiff expression.

"Oh, by the nine, it's so good to finally meet you, Dandelion!" the imp nearly squealed, pulling back from the other to peer up at her with a wide grin, her eyes practically twinkling with excitement. "I have to admit, I almost didn't come. I was so nervous that you wouldn't be here, but then I realized that if you did come and I didn't that I would be causing the very thing that I was afraid of," she said with a soft sigh, her shoulders slumping slightly as she relaxed in her spot a moment later, her tail suddenly swishing happily behind her as she looked up at the demon, smiling bright.

User Image She almost could have cried, honestly. Miah had been worried, too. It hadn't just been her. She didn't even seem to mind the hug, giving an awkward pat before staring down at the Imp, finally taking in those twinkling eyes. She was excited, even. This wasn't the face of someone who would snatch her kids from her, or run out on her. No. This Imp wanted what she wanted; a family.

"I'm glad you came, then." She stated, which was so beyond the truth it wasn't funny. She was ecstatic. She gestured to the nearby table for Miah to sit, gently setting her umbrella against the edge of the table.

"Did you make it here okay? Do you need anything? Can I get you something?" And there it was, her nerves spilled from her lips and she had crumbled into the nervous mess that was Dandelion. That, and she honestly wanted to make this woman comfortable. This.... person was her future partner in this future. Maybe. They hadn't yet discussed why they wanted kids, or how they'd raise them, but Dandi had a feeling Miah wasn't going to give her answers that would make her reject the entire idea.

Hopefully.

User Image "Oh gosh, me too! Me too!" she said with a somewhat exasperated sigh as she backpedaled somewhat further, allowing herself to get a better look at the other. That was when she truly smiled. Dandelion was so much prettier in person than her pictures led on. Her skin was to die for--so detailed, but from the little bit that she felt during their brief hug, she was so soft. The other had warned her about looking stiff and hard, but Miah didn't seem to notice that at all, or if she did, she didn't care.

The bombardment of questions didn't even seem to phase the young imp as she moved to take her seat, her tail curling around her form as she looked up at the other. "I did! I don't, and... I could maybe go for a drink. Especially if we're going to be talking about a lot of stuff," she said with a gentle giggle as she leaned back in her seat, her ankles crossing beneath the table.

User Image Dandelion had noticed Miah examine them but thought nothing of it. She would have done the same if she had the guts to. All she wanted was to dive into a million questions and learn everything about the person she might be spending so much time with. Someone she'd share genes with. Someone – oh nine – who would help create two new lives. Lives they made.

There went the nerves again.

"What would you like?" Dandi nudged a menu to Miah before resting against the back of their seat, nervously fidgeting with their umbrella in hopes to calm her pounding heart. Questions. They needed to talk. Discuss. Learn. What to talk about? What was the first thing Dandelion wanted to know?

"Why do you want kids?" Oh. Just get right into it, okay. Dandelion mentally kicked herself before the tall Demon began fidgeting with her umbrella again, fighting the need to apologize for her abrupt nature. She wasn't ever good with her words, but Miah would soon learn that.

User Image "Oh, emm..." the imp hummed, looking down at the menu quickly, before smiling. "A chocolate milkshake honestly just sounds amazing right now," she said gently, looking up at the other with bright eyes and a smile.

The question possibly should have caught her off guard, but instead it just had the imp sighing contently, a calm expression taking over most of her features. "It's a long... long story, but... I'll try and shorten it. Basically, I was adopted. I never knew my parent or parents. I mean, obviously they were an imp, but that's all I know about them. For years I never had that love until my foster mother adopted me. She raised me and taught me what it was like to be in a home with someone that loved you."

"I... want to share that love with someone else. A child, or children of my own. I thought about adopting--you know, extending the same love that my foster mother had for me, to another child without a home,... and I still want to someday! But first I wanted to have my own, and maybe... maybe share the experience with someone else that feels the same way,"

As she finished speaking, her voice softened, her gaze doing the same as she relaxed back in her seat, gazing over at the other gently.

User Image She had been surprised at how.... ready the answer was? Miah had decided awhile ago, hadn't she? Just like Dandelion. Dandi gave a thoughtful nod, head tilting to the side as she considered the menu herself before deciding, no, she didn't want anything. Her nerves was making her stomach flip about. She wasn't even sure she could stomach water right now!

The silence that followed seemed to remind Dandelion that perhaps the gentle gaze had been an indicator that it was Dandelion's time to respond to the question. Her mouth opened, shutting itself when a waiter stopped by. She hadn't expected someone to approach, figuring they'd just approach the counter when ready. She didn't think before giving Miah's order, immediately flicking her eyes to Miah the second they were gone and the fact she had just ordered for the Imp settled in.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I should have let you order. I'm... nervous, honestly. I'm sorry." Nervous and growing more so! She delicately removed her hand from her umbrella to lay in her lap, fingers fumbling over one another.

"I was an orphan myself, but I didn't get the chance to be adopted. I was sent to the academy after a few years passed and they realized I most likely wouldn't get a family." She didn't seem too unhappy about the statement, giving an absent shrug before finally flicking her eyes to Miah, her own smile, though cautious, appearing. "I want a family, and I thought imbuing stones with someone would be nice. Have someone to experience raising the children with and a partner. Adopting was tempting, but I didn't want to do it alone." Her eyes flicked back down, locked on the table as she seemed to ponder what to say next, failing.

User Image The imp honestly didn't even seem remotely phased by the other when the demon ordered for her. In fact, when the other apologized for it, Miah blinked from confusion, her head canting to the side as one of her large ears gave a flick. A moment later, she smiled as she seemed to suddenly realize what the other was even talking about.

"Oh, honey, don't apologize!" she said with a giggle, waving a dismissive paw. "I don't mind at all," she added afterwards, before settling in to listen to the other's own brief tale that explained her desire to have kids. The story had the imp smiling bright, her head nodding from understanding.

"I completely understand, Dandelion. The idea of doing it alone... was honestly kinda scary. It almost made me not want to try it at all. None of my friends wanted to try and have a family with me either, but... one of them mentioned the site, and, well,..." she trailed off, her head canting to the side as she met the other's gaze, a gentle smile curling on her lips.

User Image And, well.... the two had met. Dandelion nodded, rolling her thumbs over one another as she considered how she found the site. Funny, she thought it wouldn't work at first, and now here they were. The Demon flicked her tail gently, viewing the smaller Imp and their smile curiously before glancing back at her hand. What even would a child between them be like? Miah was almost the exact opposite of her, which wasn't a bad thing. She hushed the question back to the back of her head before finally landing on her next question.

"Do you have an idea how you want to raise the kids? What you'd want to do for living arrangements?" And there it was, her heart tapped her chest gently. Dandelion still went to university, but she had her own apartment. What did Miah have? W-would they move in together? Have one kid in each home and switch?

User Image "I wasn't actually solid about that, honestly. I live in apartment a ways away from Grendel campus with three other girls. We have an extra bedroom there, with two Freshling girls that come to stay with us on weekends. Other than that, the room is empty. I figured... if we wanted to work something out where the kids stay with me, or one of them does, at least some days during the week. I also have... a really big room, if you ever wanted to come stay," she said, a blush suddenly creeping over her cheeks as she looked at the other.

"But I'm really up for anything, even if it involves moving. Whatever would end up being best for our family," she added with a nod. "So long as I'm not too far from Grendel so I can make it to classes,"

User Image Grendel? Dandelion's head rose, a soft laugh leaving her as she gave an almost amused expression.

"I actually go to Grendel." She flicked her eyes to the cafe, now feeling rather ridiculous. She could have had them go to a cafe that was closer to their university... "So, we could always have one child stay with each of us and visit.... or... we could move in... together." She trailed off, nervously flicking her eyes to the side. While she preferred the moving in-together option (it meant neither kid would be favored, which she liked), she wasn't exactly.... sure. Was that moving too fast? Was that something Miah would even like? Dandelion's own apartment was small, built for two people. Not four. If they did live together then Dandi would probably have to leave her home and move into Miah's. That, or they could find a home together.

"I'm fine with whichever you prefer, honestly. I just want the kids to see each other plenty. And see both of us."
She admitted, a small smile on her face.

User Image The moment the words left the other's mouth, Miah's face lit up like the lights on a tree on Solstice morning.

"I wouldn't mind that at all. I'd much rather have the kids be able to stay together than have to bounce between their mommies constantly. That just seems unfair to them, and to us. Plus, that would be... a really good way for us to get to know each other better," she said, another blush creeping over her cheeks as she smiled at the demon. "Maybe we could just do trial runs for a while. We could maybe try staying at your apartment, you at mine, and... decide from there what would work best for us," she suggested with a gentle shrug.

This whole plan was starting to become better and better. Suddenly, it all felt so real.

User Image Dandelion was slowly growing more accustomed to how often Miah defied what she expected. She took each thing Dandi was embarrassed for doing and went with it, never batting an eye. Yet. She gave a small smile as Miah seemed to enjoy her idea, nodding gently. They could flip between apartments until they found the right thing for them. The stones would also take a little time to incubate... they had some time. Time to get to know each other. Her cheeks flushed at the realization that this commitment was for life. They'd raise these kids for years. Together.

Somehow, that sounded a lot less scarier now then it did fifteen minutes ago.

"I'd like that, then." Dandelion glanced up as Miah's drink arrived in a portable mug, giving a soft and appreciative 'thank you' before looking back at Miah. They had talked about imbuing today. Did Miah want that? Did she like Dandi as much as Dandi thought she liked Miah? That was the worst part; what if Miah didn't find Dandelion as mother potential? What if this was all one-sided? No, shake that thought off. Focus on right now. Not ten minutes or and hour laters.

"I, um, thank you, by the way. For coming. For even clicking on my profile." Whoop, and there she went, turning a darker blue then before.
