Name: Alfred Abney

Nickname: Al by those whom respect him; Alfie by anyone and everyone, even people whom respect him.

Age: 16

Birthday: April 22

Sign: Taurus

Gemstone: Emerald

Blood Type: A+

Fav. Food: Tea, and light, well prepared meals with little mess and plenty of flavor.

Hated Food: Microwaveable food, greasy food, Chinese food, really anything greasy, thick, and heavy. It. Is. VILE.

School: Azure Valley Academy

Hobbies:

Reading - Alfred is a bibliophile. He adores reading, because reading is learning - which sort of proves he's related to his grandfather really. Alfred ius often found with a book in hand walking between classes or around his home, nose in his book for hours, wrapped up in myth, folk stories, and history. He favors the classics (Like Dante's Inferno or Hitch Hiker's guide to the Galaxy) and education over silly things (like trashy romance novels, who reads that?). He will read, reread, and then treasure books for more readings, and damaging his books is a cardinal sin. In fact, he keeps ornate blank books to write in, which he then reads for personal fiction later. Even if some of it is embarrassing (It's not like he wrote about two friends and he will deny it fervently. And then read it.).

Drawing - Alfred uses drawing as a means to remember things. He enjoys sketching places, people, and things he sees or the images in his mind from books. He developed drawing as a skill to appear more sensitive to girls, and ended up enjoying it. If not reading or bonding with family, he spends his time carefully sketching out stories and maps, people and plants and anything he can in his other emty books, the decorated sketchbooks. He's skilled in pencil, and pen and ink, as well as color pencil, pastels, and charcoals - basically, traditional material, and has a grand time recording and drawing just because.

Women - Alfred is that teenager with a few adult magazines under his bed for personal use. He has a very healthy appreciation for women, however, unlike his cousin Reynard, he's not as good with them. Alfred is a terrible flirt and happily tries to play up prince charming, but while he talks a good game, his ego gets a little too big and he often falls flat on his face. He doesn't see women as property or prizes - he genuinely thinks you're beautiful and lucky to have his attention!... But he's still not as good as he thinks, and still ends up making more friends than romantic connections.

Virtues:

Well Spoken
I'll make a case of which I'm certain.
Alfred reads often, and has been taught how to speak both from reading and observation. To this end, he's very skilled at speaking, not just with vocabulary - but his mannerisms are calm, and informed. He tries to not waste words and when he speaks it is with purpose. His diction is excellent and many find him a joy to speak to and listen to speaking - in that he does it well and speaks intelligently.

Composed
I walk the line!
Alfred doesn't excite or upset easily. He's calm and calculated, and doesn't give in to more extreme reactions often. Most problems most call catastrophe are nuisances for him, or so it appears,He functions better than most under pressure, making him the person people go to for a solid shoulder more often than not, and it makes him quite easy to speak to of bad news as well.

Observant
He came upon some tracks too small for Andy to make.
Alfred is very hard to lie to. He monitors body language, from the tells everyone knows to the small odd ticks. He watches all of you and then the area around, and notes everything. He notes things, and then he reads things everywhere Alfred picks up the things most people miss. When he finishes, he often applies it, in speaking, in responses, or in learning his surroundings. He's quite observant indeed, and very little if anything gets by him.

Doesn't Give Up Easily
Fight those bastards till they yield!
When Alfred has a goal, he doesn't give up easily just because of details like the task being hard, or unpleasant. He keeps right at work trying to keep at it as long as is reasonable, and maybe a little longer. His goal is to get things done, as best her can, but he can accept when he cannot perform a task and will put it down, hard as it is, for another whom can finish, with little complaint.

Flaws:

Tongue of Silver
These boots are made for walkin', and that's just what they'll do.
Alfred speaks well, however, conversation partners beware- his tongue is silver and he's quite ready to turn it on others, often using gilded words and compliments to insult you without you knowing he's done it - or, alternatively, he'll get caught and then insult you with a silver tongued wise crack.

Compartmentalizes
See a perfect forest for so many splintered trees...
Alfred places every emotion in a small box - it's how he keeps so calm and collected. By this way he avoids addressing his feelings, and has since his parents passed and his grandfather began raising him alongside his adopted aunt's children. However boxes have limits and it's obvious he compartmentalizes, as when he falls apart, everything breaks down, forcing him to address the matter. It's not healthy, and despite how obvious it is, he denies doing it vehemently, leaving it a constant concern for those whom know him very well.

Egocentric
I'm young and I'm underpaid.
Alfred is better than most people if you ask him. He's better looking and smarter. His family is better than you too, every last one. To say Alfred has an ego and is completely full of himself is an understatement. His ego is the sort that compels him to act like a snob at times, or to flaunt himself. It's also a huge blockade between he and his goals of being liked by all, especially ladies, as he thinks he deserves. It can afford to be popped, although it may sadly be cast iron.

Judgmental
Shut up and smile.
Alfred is the sort to judge everything you do and how you do it. If it isn't exactly right, then he'll happily judge you and call you on it. He doesn't mean to be cruel, but you can do better, and clearly you have something that needs his intervention, lucky you. Alfred is one to judge not on looks, but actions and deeds, unconsciously, usually, and consciously as needed, trying to help. Does it work? No. Because being judgmental doesn't help anyone in the long term - it's just mean.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Silver, fairly angular and somewhat narrow. He usually looks calm, possibly bored.

Hair: Short, choppy, and fluffy, and definitely black.

Face: Long and oval with a fair complexion. He'd a bit of a noodle in build and usually his face looks smiling - but it is still highly expressive too.

Clothes: He likes dressing fancy, but he isn't fond of suits. He'll prefer clothing ranging from long coats, skinny slacks/boots and polos to mixing such things with Victorian Gothic accessories. He's a fan of blues, blacks, and whites with hints of silver and sometimes, deep, opulent purple.

Knight Title: Stonehenge Page of Polaris
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Challenge: Please.

Uniform: ---> Yoooo.

Weapon:

Page - A plain drawing compass. He could probably cause pain with the pointy end, if the opponent is a dude.

Squire - His compass is now a small staff split into two segments and connected by a thin chain. It can lock together to function for a fight, or be used like a flail. Visually, the material is a light, plain material, likely weak metal or light birch wood.
Magic - Stonehenge will fold his staff in two and hold it closed to his side. When he does this, the must focus on up to two allies, within 6 feet of him. These allie(s) will briefly register as undesirable to attack, as if they had diplomatic immunity, for thirty seconds. This does not mean they can not be attacked, simply that attacking them is undesirable.

Knight - His two segmented staff is now a full sized, 6- foot tall 3 segment staff. It's a very light material, but also very decorated. It can be weaponized but it's too pretty to soil.
Magic - Stonehenge will fold his staff in ttree and hold it closed to his side. When he does this, the must focus on up to two allies, within 6 feet of him. These allie(s) will briefly register as undesirable to attack, as if they had diplomatic immunity, for fourty seconds. This does not mean they can not be attacked, simply that attacking them is undesirable.

Hey Nova!

First off congrats on winning on Stonehenge!

Secondly, I have a few small things that need some tweaking before I can get him a trail stamp.

For his civilian side I have a concern with his Observant virtue, for me this virtue comes off as too prefect in the ability to tell people are lying without any issues; while one maybe able to read people most of the time, I don't believe it constantly happens all the time so if you can find a way to write in how he occasionally fails on this, it'll be stronger all around as a virtue.

Now on the Knight side Stonehenge's Magic reads a lot like a senshi's magic. Knights have a magic pool for Squire and Knight, so instead of them casting the attack and it lasting for 30 seconds it really can be broken up into smaller intervals for example say you wanted to use the magic in 10 second intervals until the magic pool is used up, you can do that.

That said I believe for this style of attack you can really push the magic pool limits to 40 seconds for squire and 50 seconds for Knight because it's a defense buff if you will. Remember though that Stonehenge has to keep in contact with his weapon while using his magic if he loses contact of his weapon the magic stops; but he doesn't loose the pool of magic he can pick up and continue to pull from it where he left off or change targets if you need to.

Once the adjustments have been made or you have any questions just quote me to let me know!

Re: Observant - It's not perfect by any means. I apologize if it reads such to you but not everyone has tells nor do they. He reads them. Can he read it correctly? No. But he still notices and reads it. There are people whom are capable of lying in the professional world as well, straight faced, without detection. Can he detect that? No. I would expect basic common sense to apply; I would think that is obvious, and do not appreciate the implication I do not know what sort of trait I am writing and working with in this context - I find it rather insulting.

As for knight magic execution, assume that''s an obvious part of the magic - especially considering it states he holds it at his side.

Hey, Nova!

I'm looking over the profile and am agreeing with a few points on the crit LP left, so I hope you don't mind me dropping in to expand a bit on what she's said! The way observant is described reads a lot more like a physical activity than a personality trait; you can learn to monitor body language and identify certain tells, so I can see why LP focused on that part of it. There is nothing wrong with a character being observant, but most of this trait is written to describe how well he is at physically observing people. The latter have of the virtue is written to describe how he applies this and how it is a part of his personality, so I think as it is written should be fine since you've given us extra information but still focused on how it affect his personally.

I don't think LP was trying to insult you or say that you don't know what sort of trait you're writing with, but it is also important to consider that when you are writing with other players, many of them are likely not going to type out specific body language or tics in conversation. This may make that part of the virtue a bit difficult when it comes to reading other people in conversations, but it is also possible that you and your RP partner can work that out!

When stamping, it's our job to ask questions to make sure we understand the character coming into play in the shop, so I think the only goal here was to get a better understanding of Alfred. It is absolutely fine for Alfred to be generally aware that certain behaviors, tics or body language might imply something unstated, and it makes perfect sense that a skilled liar or someone who knows about body language and tics could deceive him. I feel like LP and you are on the same page: you both think this is a logical ability and virtue and think that he shouldn't be able to detect all lies or pick up on everything. Because it wasn't originally written in the trait, you were able to clarify. We all now have a better understanding, and the profile is one step closer to being stamped!

The powered looks good to me, and he seems like he'll be quite the character to play! Good luck and I hope you have fun!
