After a night at home, most of which was spent packing, he gone to the new unit that he was assigned to, one that was created to chase after the bandits that were bothering the caravans. On top of them there was also a group of janarim that had moved into the area where the unit had bedded down. It seemed that there were a lot of problems outside of the city that he wasn't aware of until he found himself out there. The idea of facing off with a bunch of bandits that wanted to raid caravans was something he was prepared for, it was his duty to keep the people safe. The rogue janarim though, they were different from what he'd been expecting.
At the same time he found himself thinking about Nuri, about what he might do. Would he be using his powers to get the janarim in line? Would he try to tame them? Or should he do the easier thing and just kill them so that he could neutralize the threat that they posed to his unit. He had little interest in getting himself an entire pack of janarim but at the same time he also had little interest in killing off a pack of janarim that could prove useful. Perhaps to the unit that he was currently serving with? Were they to capture and tame them then they could serve Oba instead of making life more difficult for the Fire Tribe. An interesting thought indeed. He wasn't a beast master, he had no idea how to even start trying to tame them, but it was a good idea. They could use more mounts to carry their people and supplies in their search for the bandits that were messing with the caravans. Not to mention that this was a good way to prove he was serious about wanting to serve his people as an officer. It was a good idea and would take care of two birds with one stone. Provided of course they could catch up with the bandits after dealing with the janarim.
The first thing that he had to do was find the pack of janarim, to get a good look at them, at their numbers, to figure out which ones were in charge, and go from there. If the janarim worked as a pack there was sure to be a pack leader, if the leader was captured first the others would be left in disarray. Once that happened it would be a lot easier for them to capture the milling remainder of the pack, catch them, and set to work taming them. Tapping the metal rings in his lower lip against his teeth he found himself wondering if there was someone in his new unit like Nuri. Was there a beast tamer? Someone that could aid in the plan that Saraf was hatching? He'd have to speak with his commanding officer about the plan, get information on any tamers they hand, and then go from there.
Before he could do that though he needed to know what they were dealing with... and as luck would have it the pack he was seeking came into view. They were some distance off, not close enough to where he coudl take a shot at the leader, but he could at least see their numbers. He could see why they posed a threat, but knowing their exact numbers was going to help in taking them down.
