Arron was quite cozy snuggled up in the curve of a root of a large tree, curled against the wind under a thick woven blanket given to him by his mother. There had been much talk circulating around lately, trickling through a stream of many people to land in his keen young ears. There was another species of people out there, reputed to be dark with purple hair (fancy that!), and long pointed droopy ears. He wished he had awesome ears just like that and glowy eyes. Sadly they apparently couldn’t see well he guessed that was the price for extreme awesomeness. Pity they had sent all the mean alkies there that had not been nice of them but they hadn’t wanted them here that was for sure. He didn’t blame them for being skittish if those alks were what they thought of all other earthlings, he himself was known to be a bit skittish, creeping people like Ouen before daring to go and talk to them. It was better for him to get a measure of strangers before exposing his small odd self, safer as not all would like how complicated he was. He liked it sure, no one but his sister was just like him and she had been gone for forever now. He still cried over them sometimes at night and his mother would come and hold him or the nice Sezarra of the shifter family they stayed with here. He had found many friends here and he hoped the yaeli would come and be nice so he could be friends with them too. Especially if they had greasy beasties coming to steal souls and children he wouldn’t blame them for leaving their native shores and escaping to the continant of Tendaji. Rather more clever of them, maybe the beasts would eat the mean alks which was a pity. No one should be eaten after all. But back to the yaeli would they stay hidden forever and not talk? Or if he found one and gained their trust would they talk to him? He would be special then, to have a yaeli friend, he hoped that they had plenty of younglings left, they were easier to talk to when you were yourself rather tiny. Maybe they could tell each other about the creatures of their world, explain the inns and outs of different breeds. Those creeper monsters sounded like how his own mother had described the vetch but less buglike, she told him to run straight for safety if he ever came across one and if he ever visited yael he would do the same with their beasties. He supposed they had lived underground for a very long time and had not come up until now, would they shrivel in the sun perhaps? That would be rather convenient wouldn’t it? He hadn’t heard many stories about what else lived there but surely they would have things like radaki and nondwa there too? Argh, he just had so many questions and not a soul who knew for sure to ask, and that was always the best way of getting the correct information go right to the source, thus he would have to find himself a yaeli, corner them, show them he wasn’t a threat and ask them all these things. For example why did the beasts want to steal children was it to eat them? He shuddered at the thought and then figured that there was more meat on adults anyway much better to eat them instead? Did everything want to eat earthlings? It certainly seemed so if one really thought on it, between radaku and janarim and the like, there was a wonder there were people left. He should really stop thinking about such things as he was a convenient wrapped snack here on the ground. He shimmied up the tree his technique having gotten much better than it had been before he had met Hewque. Now feeling much safer he began to work out a plan, he would hang around in the market place and gather info on the yaeli and wait for one of them to make it all the way to Ast for a visit or when he got a little older he would go seek them out anyhow. Yes this suited the little youngling very well, he was sure his mother wouldn’t mind him wanting to make some new friends after all she didn’t mind new people otherwise she would never have loved his father. She certainly loved her son, Arron fingered the blanket and smiled happily at his new plot, find a yaeli to question about all the yaeli things!
