Koda sat at his desk, staring intently at his homework while twirling his pencil delicately in his hands. He looked back over to his demon engineering project, a frown pulling at his lips. Okay, Dakota, you're doing fine! You just need to make sure that you're keeping control of your emotions, or else this project is going to get a heck of a lot more difficult. The faun let out a quiet little sigh before carefully picking up one of the gears and frowning as a thin coat of moss began to grow on it.
"No... No!" Koda raised his voice as if to scold the gear for falling under the influence of his wild abilities, "I said no!"
He sighed, placing his face in the palm of his hand as the moss grew even more, a few brown mushroom caps sprouting from the moss. Great...
However, Koda wasn't left to pout long before a neat little knock sounded at the door. The boy perked up, his hazel eyes scanning the door in bewilderment. Huh... I wasn't expecting any visitors today. Did Rinji accidentally kill her bonsai tree AGAIN? That poor plant... She loves it so much, be she really needs to remember to water it. Koda let out a huff, pushing himself up and off of his moss covered chair and striding over to the door, leaving a trail of plants and wildflowers in his wake.
He pulled open the door, looking out towards the hallway timidly, "Umm... H-Hello? How can I help you?"

Nia smiled warmly when her roommate answered the door and opened it. "Hi there! Dakota Samthson? I'm Nia Hall! I'm rooming with you!" She introduced herself. Wow, a faun, that's pretty neat. I hope we can at least become friends! The outlook seems promising. Nia thought to herself as she glanced past the boy before her.
"Woah, that's a lot of greenery!" She gawked in amazement at the plant life growing about Koda's side of the room. It was like she was in her element. Yep, this is definitely going to work out greatly. Nia dropped one of her bags that she happened to be holding, a thoughtful look crossing her face as she crossed her arms in interest, placing a hand at her chin and lightly drumming her fingers; momentarily pushing her glasses slightly up the bridge of her nose before continuing to drum her fingers as she looked at the vegetation in awe.

Koda stared at the girl, his eyes wide with confusion and shock. I... I signed up to room with people? That was a horrible idea...UGH! I'm such an idiot! Despite his panic, Dakota sat there smiling nervously, watching the girl in front of him and doing well to hide the chaos storming through his head. She was a beautiful girl, really. That was going to prove to be a problem for him... Between her dark hair that tumbled down her back like a waterfall and her eyes that shone with the life of the forest itself... He felt his breath catch in his throat for a moment. The faun felt his face grow warm and fuzzy, his cheeks and the bridge of his nose tinting brown with a flurry of white flecks.
"O-Oh!! I had c-completely forgot that I had signed up for that... Umm... Please, come in! Make yourself at home! I'm so sorry about all of the wildlife... I don't quite know how to control some of my abilities yet." Koda explained, moving out of the way and trying his best not to stare at the girl, "I-I'm sorry... I would help you clean out some of the greenery, but I promise that I would only make it worse.
The faun gave a nervous laughed, casting a glance down to the large mass of plants pooling at his feet. Geez... She probably thinks I'm a mess... This is going to be horrible... Why does she have to be so pretty, too?
pbjwb Yep! Pretty much. lol She loves that thing to death... literally. He has to go in there once every three weeks, and she shows up to his door in tears every time.

Nia had found herself looking down to the ground curiously as Koda had plant life sprouting from wherever he stepped. She looked back to meet his gaze again, Wow, what eyes. What it must be like to be a faun and not a human... She thought, suddenly staring at his face.
"Oh my gosh! Your face! That is so adorable! You are beautiful!" Nia beamed at Koda as she leaned down to pick her bag back up, putting it over on her side of the room. "Don't worry at all about the plants! I love it! It's like being outside with nature but I'm still inside!" Nia said as continued to grab her things from the hallway and set them around her bed on the floor. "I'm sure you'll be able to figure out your abilities soon enough. Don't lose hope on that!" Nia told Koda as she began unpacking her things, arranging various jars of herbs, vials, gemstones both loose and in varying containers around her desk and scoping out the wall for a rack she had to put up.

The faun let out a little whimper, his eyes widening in shock as the tint spread further across his face. His ears began to change shape, becoming more deer-like with the same tint that had just finished tinting his face. I'm not going to make it. I'm going to die. I'm going to end up spending the rest of my life as a deer. Goodbye, satyr form, you shall be missed dearly!
"O-Oh... Okay... Th-Thank you, umm... Ms. Nia..." Koda barely looked like he was keeping his cool, his abilities so close to taking over him completely. Not only was she absolutely breathtaking, but she was also sweet and charming and... accepting. The faun sat back for a minute a few of his deer-like features receding for a moment. She's... no. Koda, don't get your hopes up. This all seems way too good to be true. She might be accepting, but the idea of dating a transgender satyr who has no self-confidence or control over their abilities? Don't you dare even wish for it...
The satyr hesitantly approached the beauty's belongings, turning to see her planning for her space in her room. It's so weird to think that there's going to be an actual bed in here... Mine kinda turned into a nest after a little while. I wonder what sort of creature she is? She looks and smells like a human... Hhhh, she smells really good... KODA WHAT DID I JUST TELL YOU?! Dakota's torso beginning to change to the same shade as his face and ears. Okay, okay, we're fine! Just don't think about it! Don't think about it... Oh my god, she's going to be living with me.
"U-Um... Is there anything you need me to create or move...? I h-have, umm... SOME control over my abilities, so I can make shelves or... something." Dakota could barely keep his voice steady, clutching onto the bag's handle and praying that his emotions keep themselves in check.

Continuing to look from the wall, to her belongings, and Koda, Nia grinned again. "Of course, you're absolutely welcome, Dakota!" She giggled to herself, watching in amazement as his transformation just kept going on. Oh my goodness, that is so adorable. What a cutie! And he'll be my roommate. Uh oh, I'm assuming he's a guy... I actually, yeah he seems... Nia paused moving her things, listening to what Koda said about making a shelf for her, thinking to herself.
"Oh, yes yes, er, that'll be nice actually! Could you make a spice rack, but bigger to fit, say jars and such? Just above the desk?" She asked, turning to arrange a few more things about her desk. Well, I could just ask that one magical question that pops up more and more as more people are out to others... Nia paused, tapping the desk lightly with her hands.
"Say, I don't want to sound rude or anything, yikes! But, you know, what are your pronouns? I am simply she/her. I just have to remember to ask people around me, because not everyone is in the binary or as they appear." She asked politely, leaning against the desk as she watched him. Will he turn into a deer? Jeez, that would be so cute... As Nia watched him, awaiting his response, her grin grew a bit more and her cheeks flushed ever so slightly with a nice shade of crimson.

Koda nodded a little bit before setting Nia's bags down, focusing on the bit of wall over the desk and slowly raising a clawed hand into the air. He made sure not to take his gaze off of the wall for even a second, slowly unfurling his fingers and watching as twin walls of bark began to sprout from the wall and age until the wood was sturdy and dry. From there, it branched off further, creating a multitude of little racks and shelves as well as a few large shelf mushrooms branching off from other sections of the wall. Once the faun lowered his hand again, the process continued a bit further, moss poking through the cracks in the aged wood as well as a few baby mushrooms that have called it home.
"U-Umm... I'm sorry if I went a bit overboard... I hope that's enough space for you." The boy said, wringing his hands nervously as he eyed the girl.
Koda suddenly perked up at the sound of her voice, carefully watching her as she spoke. His eyes were widened with disbelief, his mouth ever so slightly open. Did... she really say that...? Am I hallucinating...?
"Oh! My pronouns are he/him!! I'm a boy..." he blurted, before casting his gaze toward the ground apologetically, lowering his voice to a much softer tone, "By the way, you can just call me Koda, if you want." the boy explained nervously.

Nia grinned at Koda when he told her what pronouns he went by. Okay, I was pretty sure but it's best not to assume! she mused inwardly. She was relieved that she hadn't made him upset by asking, but she wanted to be absolutely sure. And she had been right!
"Okay then, Koda," Nia beamed at the faun, watching his him carefully, "oh, and thank you so much! I absolutely love that, it looks wonderful!" the girl happily clapped her hands together. Opening her arms, she quickly hugged Koda, twisting back and forth slightly as she hugged the boy, "Thanks a million, you're so kind! And handsome at that!" the girl jeered, snuggling him a moment more before stepping away from him to arrange the rest of her things.

Koda stiffened when the girl wrapped him in her embrace, snuggled against his chest and spoke to him so sweetly. The faun hoped and prayed that Nia wasn't able to hear his heart threatening to break the fragile bone walls that they resided in with as fast as it was beating. She was so warm and kind... Her embrace was enough to make the satyr feel something that they hadn't felt with another person in years: safe and happy. It took all that Koda had to keep his cool, but the moment that beautiful girl called him handsome, the boy simply lost it, turning entirely into a deer.
Oh no... the boy thought to himself, letting out a sad little sound as he realized that there was now a doe standing in the very center of the room. She's going to be so sad and disappointed... She might have been confused about my gender because of how I looked and thought I was a real boy! Now she's going to see me and think that I lied to her... I'm such a horrible person. Why can't I just be happy with who I am? Gender shouldn't matter, right? Natural beauty is everything! Why...? Why can't I just be normal, or... better yet, why did I have to be born this way? The faun could picture the sad look on her face now, her perfect, pink lips pulling into the most heartbreaking frown. Her eyes would be filled with disappointment... or rage! Disgust! Sadness, heartbreak, pity...
Koda felt like crying. This girl was never going to trust him ever again over something so trivial, and it was all his fault. He began to wonder if he should have told her that he was transgender from the beginning, hoping that maybe that would have made the situation a little less harmful than it is now. The faun wished he could disappear.
The doe standing in the center of the room let out another sad, little cry, lowering its head in shame.
Dakota Samthson had been exposed for what he hated the most.

Nia watched as Koda went from faun to deer in the matter of minutes--seconds even! She stared for a moment, her expression completely unreadable. Then, very shortly after, she opened her mouth.
"Koda...you're... so adorable! You're just as handsome, too!" Nia exclaimed, reaching out and petting him carefully between his ears on top of his head. She grinned at him, looking from him to his plants. Oh boy, I wonder what other cool things he can do. Ah jeez, it really makes me want to just like, ask him a bunch of questions! I shouldn't interview my cute roommate though, I don't want to sound really annoying or something! she pondered to herself.
"Again, I can't thank you enough for making the racks for me! I'm very grateful! I'll make you something soon, too!"

Koda's ears flew up in surprise. Did... that really just come out of her mouth...? The faun stared the girl down, his entire body trembling as she raised her hand and stroked his head. Before the deer could stop himself, he made a delighted little noise, sitting still and hoping that this is more to come. Oh geez... That was embarrassing. That was REALLY embarrassing... Did he move out of the way to get her to stop? Well, the answer is no.
Soon enough, the boy began to creep out of his deer form without realizing it, a big, loving grin on his face, "I... It's nothing, I... it's the least I can do, I mean..."
Oh, gosh, he was so head-over-heels for her. Look at her! She's so sweet and gentle and accepting and... her lips look so soft... Wait, what?
pbjwb lol Nia broke him. Koda.exe has stopped responding.

Nia continued to softly pet Koda, even when he turned back into his faun form. She gave a soft giggle when she noticed the cute facial expression Koda happened to be making. Geez, I had better be careful, this guy's such a cutie, and super nice too.. a light smile crossed Nia's lips as she looked at the faun before her.
"Nope! I'm definitely going to make you some nice little things that you can decorate with or something! Hm, I've always wanted to try knitting though, too...." Nia told Koda, rubbing her chin in thought as she continued to pet him, "Psst, by the way, you have a very cute smile, I hope I can get it out of you more often!" Nia said with another soft giggle, bopping his nose with her hand lightly.

Koda hummed happily, his eyes shut as he moved his head about so that she had access to other areas of his head. It was obvious that he was loving every second of this. The faun eventually made another quiet, little deer noise, nuzzling his head forward to rest it upon her shoulder before exhaling. He laid there, breathing in her scent and allowing that foggy feeling to settle over his mind. His hazel eyes opened just a bit, his eyelids threatening to droop closed again with the haze of comfort. Koda could just barely make out what the human girl was saying, humming his responses quietly to show that he was still listening.
However, he was soon torn away from his dreamlike state, crying out and quickly sitting up again. His face was a bright crimson, but it was quickly being covered up by a large tint of brown.
"A-AHH!! I'M SO SORRY, I LET MYSELF GET CARRIED AWAY! I WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION! I-I'M SO SORRY, MISS NIA!" Koda said quickly, his powers threatening to take over his form at any given moment.

Nia blinked when Koda reacted so suddenly to what was going on. Whoops, jeez he's adorable.. Nia thought as Koda was suddenly apologizing for getting so close to her. Oh? And there went his face again. Nia grinned at Koda, waving her hand in dismissal.
"Oh, don't even apologize. It's perfectly fine, Koda." Nia assured him that there was no problem. "Oh, wait, there is..one thing." Nia told Koda, sitting onto the edge of her unmade bed, "You don't need to say Miss, just Nia is fine. I mean, it's not like I'm a teacher or something! Just your friend and roommate!" Huh, why did saying friend feel so odd to her? Nia's own cheeks showed a light tint of red.
"Ahem! Anyways, er.. So Koda, what's your hobby?" Nia decided to shift her thoughts away from that idea and talking more with Koda. Plus, maybe I can get him to calm down. While cute, I'm sure that must be very troublesome..to be constantly turning back and forth..
