Sailing was something that Rhaegar did as a recreation, he enjoyed it in short trips, not for a full weeks trip over the sea between his country Renos and his future wife's Antares. The sea had been choppy the entire way, being that spring brought rain. Renos was an island just south of Antares, a bit warmer than the larger mainland country, but it shared similar storms. The true storm was going to be princess Ophelia. He looked forward to meeting new people, even the rebellious princess her had been told so much about. His good friend and guard Henry mentioned each time the messenger returned with unopened letters to the princess he looked shaken. She seemed like a woman not to toy with. Rhaegar was a little intrigued by that. Both of his sisters were obedient, loving, he had never had trouble with women. Being a prince, most came to his beck and call.
Not to say that Rhaegar was some kind of romancing Tom, he turley was not, he was meek and even naive when it came to matters of the heart. He had never been in love after all. It was all planned for him, just as this romance will be. It was not going to be smooth sailing.
The trip to the castle took his caravan through the business side of town and then the square, all the way out of town and into the countryside. Finally they made it withing the walls of the court, noticeably rich nobleman homes placed within town. This country was indeed so large they had a separate area for the nobles to reside out of the castle. Rhaegar was bewildered at it's size, but he wouldn't show that outwardly of course. Horns sounded, announcing his arrival. It seemed everyone was here except the Princess herself.

Ophelia had risen quite early on this particular day, skipping breakfast and leaving the castle before the rest of her family had even left their chambers. She felt too nauseous to eat anything. This was in part due to nervousness, but more so due to anger and dread. Despite her endless bickering over the subject of marriage, and her adamant refusal to even meet the man -- the princess had even tried her best to dissuade the prince from making the voyage to Antares in the form of refusing to reply to any of his letters -- it was apparent that her father was dead set on seeing her miserable. The prince of Renos was to arrive by ship today, and it was still the expectation that the marriage would carry on as planned. The raven-haired princess had spent most of the morning out riding in the forest surrounding her father's castle to try and ease her mind. More importantly, she had spent the morning avoiding everyone that was involved in this silly marriage scheme.
After some time in the forest, the castle gates reappeared through the trees and Ophelia approached at a trot. She was in no hurry to be on time for the prince's arrival -- in fact she had already decided that she was going to be quite late, if she could help it. The girl took her time in the stables, giving her chestnut horse a brush and slipping the creature a sugar cube before making her way back towards her rooms. Once there, she glanced at herself in the mirror. "This will never do for a meeting with one's soon-to-be husband..." She muttered to herself with a smirk, plucking a leaf out of her her long, dark hair. "Mary, draw a bath for me, will you?" She called, knowing that her handmaiden would be somewhere nearby. Ophelia planned to take advantage of every excuse to delay her meeting with the prince. She didn't feel remotely bad about it, as she had given him ample opportunity to change his mind about coming. Now he was going to have to see in person just how little she was going to cooperate.
After a moment, an elderly woman with kind eyes and rough hands appeared from around the corner. "Milady! What on Earth do you mean you'd like a bath?? The Prince's ship has just pulled into the harbor!" Mary looked at the princess incredulously. "I've been out riding, Mary. I can't very well meet him like this, now can I?" The girl asked with obvious mischief in her tone. The woman rolled her eyes, but finally did as she was told, and soon the young girl was climbing into the warm water, sinking as far in as she could. As she sat there -- stalling -- a chorus of horns sounded outside of the castle. That would mean that the prince had made his entrance. Surely everyone would be receiving him in the courtyard now, while Ophelia sat soaking in water. Her father was going to be furious with her.
Finally, the princess decided that she was clean enough, and exited the bath, wrapping herself in a towel and making her way to her wardrobe. She chose a light blue dress with white trim and long, slim sleeves, and Mary returned to help her into it, buttoning it up at the back. Ophelia admired herself in the mirror one last time, brushing through her hair but not bothering to do anything with it. She knew that she had wasted as much time as she could, and now it was time to join the party in the courtyard. The girl bid goodbye to Mary, who assured her that everything would be just fine, and made her way down corridors and stairs until she finally arrived at the front entrance to the castle. Ophelia stood just inside the doors for a moment, debating turning around and going back to her rooms, but she knew it would make more of an impression to show a face that didn't seem to care just how late she was than to not show her face at all. The princess pushed open the heavy oak doors and stepped back out into the brisk air, making her way to where the rest of her family stood with her head held high. She slipped into line between her younger sister and her mother -- who shot her a dirty look -- and waited, not saying a word.

The air was cool but humid, leaving an unsettling fog among the gardens of the court. After the horns blew, no one made a move forward for some minutes. Rea figured that the princess would approach along with her father the king but they stood at a stan still for a moment. There was a ripple in the sea of people and Rhaegar kept his eyes peeled for the sign of life. It happened to be servants moving around frantically, most likely form the look on the royal families face. It was impolite to move without invitation so Rhaegar stood tall in his boots, waiting for their interaction. It soon came when the Kind stepped forward, lifting his arms and opening them in a show of welcomes.
Rhaegar bowed before accepting his invitation to move about. The older man was visibly bothered by the fact his daughter was not out here. He had noticed another girl, one far too young to be the princess he was looking for, the youngest heir presumably. He focused his attention to the King again, listening to the introductions he was giving in hopes to pass the time before his daughters arrival. Rhaegar figured somewhere up in that castle she was hiding out. After shaking hands with Nobles and kissing the top of knuckles of Ladies he was a little impatient to meet his future bride. Sadly he wouldn't be doing that just yet.
One last greeting was to a terribly old looking man, small and hunched over, the look of stars in his black eyes. The King called him Jon, and he was the resident physician, highly honored in Antares. Rheagar smiled at the elder man, feeling something familiar about him. He seemed very likable.
King Leonidas seemed to turn like he could sense his daughters presence, directing the golden haired prince in the direction of the raven haired woman. Her beauty was certainly undeniable, but the fact she had no care for his arrival stung a little. Just as his unlooked at letters. Rhaegar wiped his palms before Leonidas put them in the same vicinity. A sudden nervousness ran through him, he hopped he was hiding it well.
"I'm pleased to meet you, Ophelia, thank you for coming to see me." A light pink covered his ears, feeling substantially embarrassed, he felt as if he wasn't using the right words, not standing out as much as he should. Perhaps it was because he was away from home, in unfamiliar territories, ally to be or not, he felt threatened. "May I accompany you?" She surely gave off a feeling that she had better things to do. Must be a buy life as a princess after all. His sister acted that way from time to time.

Ophelia, it seemed, had arrived near the end of the introductions as her father currently had his attention on Jon. Jon was their dear physician, and a lovely man. The raven-haired princess had a soft spot for the elderly fellow. She looked down the line of people that the prince was supposed to be greeting, but was still purposefully avoiding so much as a glance in the young man's direction. As the girl stood waiting for her presence to be acknowledged by her father and her betrothed, she felt a jab in her side. Turning her head slightly to the side with a raised brow, she saw that her thirteen-year-old sister Eliza was making a face at her. Ophelia knew exactly what that face meant, too. Eliza was cross with her for being late -- though the younger girl had known of Ophelia's plot in advance.
While her attention was on her sister, it seemed that the attention of everyone else had finally been drawn to Ophelia herself. She finally looked forward as the prince approached her, and now both of her eyebrows went up as though surprised that he was even bothering to speak to her. In truth, the thing that surprised her was how different he looked from what she had imagined. She supposed that -- based mostly on his persistence, as she had refused to hear anything about the prince from her mother and father -- she had expected him to be rather large and brutish, and possibly a bit angry-looking. Instead the young man was fair-haired and polite and... handsome. She thought a tad nervous as well, but that could have just been her imagination.
Despite his perfectly reasonable approach and the fact that he was far from looking like the man that the princess had prepared to be rather cruel to, Ophelia gave him little quarter. She let her brows come down in a stubborn manner and gave the prince a look that seemed as though she might be staring into one's soul. She looked him up and down, and then met his gaze once more. "Do as you will, Prince of Renos." Was all she said before turning on her heel and making her way in the direction of the foggy gardens. Her sister watched her go, open-mouthed and clearly not expecting the older princess to stick to her idea of being so difficult once she had met the prince. Her mother and father looked simply appalled.
Ophelia sighed, sparing a single glance behind her to see the stunned faces of the people she left standing in the courtyard. She almost felt bad, but she had been so against all of this up to this point that it would be a shame to back down from her position now, no matter how friendly Rhaegar appeared. Besides, The princess told herself, trying to justify her actions. who's to say it isn't all just an act? After all, that is exactly what you're doing, is it not, Ophelia?

May be it had been the light shake of his voice or the pink in his ears but all that Rhaegar could think of was how the princess' eyes looked when he spoke. Was he out of place? He had not offered to kiss her hand, knowing she was not on board with the marriage, and he did not want to make her more uncomfortable with it. Though he wished it could have been easier, Rhaegar was up for a challenge, as meek as he may seem. Maybe that was why she was going so easy on him.
She was curt but allowed him to to go with her towards the foggy gardens. It seemed that this winter would be a cold and wet one. Heavy snow meant travel difficulties. Hopefully everyone had a safe place to rest this winter. Rhaegar brought his attention to Ophelia, her walk more brisk than other princesses he had encountered, but he managed to keep up. It remeined quiet for a periosd of time, much like the gardens silence, it felt cold as winter suddnely. Rhaegar took a soft breath through his lips,"If I may ask, What do you expect of my visit?" Breaking the glass quiet around them. He was courious, did she expect him to leave after all of her torment, or for him to force her into this?He didn't plan on either choice.
Renos was a place that, even with an over flow of humans and supernatural, rules were placed for all beings. Supernaturals were not forced to do the bidding of humans and vice versa. Like vampires, if they had the need to feed, the party must be consenting and of age. Otherwise, the vampire would be held under trial for assault. And vice versa, a human can not use there blood as a bribe or harm a vampire without undergoing trial. There were many laws that had been recently put into place given the influx of population, Something he was going to share with royal family once the immigration details were set.
"I plan on trying to make this work either way Princess." He spoke, stopping in the gardens center. Many of the flowers had grown tired and were preparing for the winter to come. "I promise you do not have to grow to love me, nor be loyal to me." He was quiet, pulling a limp rose form it's soft branch, as to make the eves droppers struggle in listening. "I just wish to make our people safe." He offered his hand to the raven haired woman, the rose he had previously plucked now resting in his breast pocket, ever so slowly regaining it's strength. Sometime, they will have to produce an heir, but they could put it off as long as possible. He had no intentions of doing such a thing with an unwilling woman.

Ophelia frowned slightly as the prince decided to follow her, having hoped that he might choose to remain behind with the rest of the family -- perhaps decide to be shown around the castle before trying to speak with the princess further. It was much easier to avoid someone when they were not with you. The girl kept a brisk pace, walking ahead of her betrothed through the chilly garden. The princess held her hands behind her back, and kept her chin up in a dignified manner as they moved on towards the center of the garden. Hearing the prince's intake of breath before he spoke, Ophelia chlenched her eyes closed momentarily. She didn't answer right away, and she wasn't quite expecting the question he asked. She had thought it might be something more along the lines of why she was behaving so terribly, or maybe some small talk about the weather.
He continued to speak, stating his own intentions as he paused in the center of the gardens. Ophelia stopped a short ways away from Rhaegar as he admired the wilting flowers around them. The prince spoke quietly, and the raven-haired girl thought about his words. In her own mind, it wasn't a matter of the ability to remain loyal, the girl simply didn't want to be married at all. She didn't want to play pawn for her father. She kept her attention straight ahead for the most part, but did spare a curious side-glance as the prince plucked one of the flowers from a rose bush, quickly turned her head away as he came towards her so as to look like she hadn't been watching. The prince offered her a hand, and she stared at it like it might be a rabid animal. After a moment of deliberation she was going to take it, but she stopped, becoming distracted by the flower he had placed into his breast pocket.
Ophelia's brow furrowed, looking at it in confusion. It seemed stronger than it had a moment ago, but she could have sworn that when the prince had plucked it it was just as near-dead as the rest of the roses. "Wasn't that just.... How did you.....?" The princess trailed off, her hand frozen in place. She had fully planned on responding to his previous question, but she was too taken aback by what was in front of her to think about it. Ophelia knew next to nothing about the supernatural, aside from their existence, and so seeing something like this happening right in front of her was strange and almost concerning. ooc: sorry for the double quote, I edited my post.

Of course Rhaegar would love to talk about the weather, he was looking forward to a heavy snow. They often got lots of travelers from the north, bringing stories of there time at war with Metil, both victories and losses. Rhaegar enjoyed meeting with his people, and taking care of them. Like he hoped to care for this country and it's people. Maybe of Ophelia let him, he wouldn't mind looking out for her either. She seemed rather caught with the flower in his pocket, and then it dawned on him. She had never read his letters, so her would have no way of knowing that he was not one hundred percent human.
The blonde rubbed the back of his head with the now free hand she had not taken, smiling at her gently. "I guess no one told you." It wasn't exactly common knowledge that the queen and offspring of Renos were supernatural. They appeared nothing but human, and with there standing in society, they often did not rely on there abilities. Rheagar on the other hand did enjoy learning more about his mothers heritage and the power they share. "My mother, she was born a noble in Cit, a fae." His had had now dropped, to be hind his back as well, rose growing in strengeth as he spoke. He smiled at her still. "Meaning I am half fae, and half human." He informed before plucking the now living rose form his pocket and presenting it to her.
"I do hold magic, not nearly as much as my mother though." She was a very powerful woman, one with great incite and standing. She lead the first meeting about the influx of supernatural, as well as every one up until now. It was up to Rhae now. "I hope my mixed blood is not even more discouraging." Many humans, like the ones of Metil did not want him to rule, it meant a stronger bond between supernaturals and humans.

The dark-haired girl furrowed her brow even more as Rheagar explained what was happening. No one had told her that the man she was supposed to marry was some kind of a wizard. Or... fae, as he continued on to tell her, holding out the now very much alive rose out towards her. Ophelia reached out to touch the petals curiously. After a moment of inspection, she decided that the flower was safe, and took it gently from his fingers, bringing it closer to her face to look it over further. As she did, she glanced back up at the Prince's final statement, shooting him a piercing look. "As strange as I find it, I promise that whatever quarrel I have with this is not due to your mixed blood." She assured the young man, deciding to have some small amount of mercy on him.
By no means was this reply a sign that she was backing down on her current stance, she just didn't want to appear as though she had any kind of prejudice towards the supernatural. The princess did not know enough about them to have any kind of ill feelings or otherwise towards them, and she was not the kind of person to hate something just because she did not understand it. Ophelia preferred to thoroughly understand the things that she hated -- otherwise what point was there in hating it? The marriage, for example; She understood that it was helpful to both parties, but she also understood that she was nothing but a pawn in this endeavor, and that was what she hated. She had no control over the situation, and her own self was the one thing in this world that she felt she had a right to have some control over.
Ophelia looked back up at the prince and away from the flower, holding the rose back towards him. "Does it stay like this, now? Or will it die again?" She asked him, genuinely wondering how the magic worked rather than just attempting small-talk. He had also said that he did not have as much magic as his mother had, and yet he could bring a flower back from the dead. What all did that mean his mother was capable of? Realizing that she was letting her facade slip slightly, Ophelia tried her best to appear more concerned over the prospect than interested -- she couldn't have Rheagar thinking that he could be getting somewhere, now could she? ooc: No worries! I've been pretty busy myself haha I expected as much from everyone, though~ haha

The blonde gazed at the blue eyed female, her brows furrowed in a way that made her look feirce, bu quizzical. SOme how it pushed him on to continue explaining. Her pale hand reached for the flower, once she deemed it harmless. She on the other hand did not look harmless. He had not meant any offence, but it was evident that she did not either. "I'm relieved," He said, drawing his hand back behind his back. A small coy pull to his lips showed as he looked at the woman. "That would make things so much more difficult for us." If nothing, he wanted to be friends with her. Ophelia and him, like it or not, were going to be spending a lot of time together. Inevitably, no matter how much she hated the idea of marriage, her father would pressure her into it or force her if need be. Rheagar didn't like the idea of it of course, he didn't want to see the girls of his family sent far off to marry men to make them more powerful but sadly, this was an era which that was all women were thought to be good for.
Ophelia seemed to be done with the rose, the male gently taking it back and putting it safely into his breast pocket once again. The male motioned for her to come with him, a smile on his face. People awed at them, walking together. "Now that I've stopped healing it, it will wilt in time like it had." He stated, arms properly folded behind his back as he talked. "I could continuously put my powers into it, little by little, but once I stopped or died myself. It too would die." He had not hopped for things to go so incredibly grim, in conversation. "I can heal minor wounds with the help of medicines and such." He smiled, trying to lighten the mood.
"I've talked so much about myself," He stated, left hand rubbing the hair on his chin, and then dropping again before he smiled at her. "May I ask for a peek into a bit into you?" She could always be stubborn, but he had hoped for some kind of equivalent exchange between them. He didn't expect that though.

Ophelia couldn't help but let out a slight scoffing sound when he commented that it would make things even more difficult. "Yes, well. A fair warning -- I don't plan on it being any less difficult, either." She stated, a bit more coldly than her previous assurance had been. She knew how this would have to go. She knew that she had no choice in what was happening, and that no matter what tantrums she threw, in the end they would have to be wed. Even by force, if necessary. That didn't mean she was not going to fight it with all of her might. Her attempts to get the prince to change his mind about the agreement before he bothered arriving had failed, but perhaps he would still decide while he was here that she was just too much to deal with. The princess did not think she had the heart to be completely cruel to him -- to his face -- but perhaps he could still be discouraged by her strong will.
As Rheagar took the rose back from her to place once again in his breast pocket, he motioned for her to move on, and so she did. They continued walking through the gardens while onlookers likely gossiped and chit-chatted about the pair as they passed. Nothing was so exciting in court (to nobles and servants alike) as the many rumors that could come from a couple of royals. She listened with her brow still furrowed as the prince continued to explain to her how the magic worked, and that unless he was feeding the rose his energy it would whither and die again just as it had in it's first course of life. The topic of the dying flower became quite tragic too quickly, and Ophelia had to stop herself from letting a brief laugh escape her lips as Rheagar turned it around and tried to lighten the mood once more. For some reason the change of mood had surprised her so much that she thought it funny. Thankfully, she kept her amusement mostly under wraps, and before she knew it the prince was changing the subject. To her.
Ophelia's face turned unreadable again -- not that it had strayed very far from that in the first place -- and she glance at him out of the corner of her eye, looking almost slighted by the question. Her dignified defiance returned again as well, and she spoke with every trace of it in her tone. "I suppose that all depends on what you would like to know." The princess watched him in a scrutinizing way, as though she were challenging him to try and coax anything too personal out of her, though she did feel it fair to have to give him some small tidbit in return for his own openness. ooc: I'm sorry t-t I start up again Monday >.<

Ophelia was stubborn, and most people didn't like that in a woman. Rheagar can understand her frustrations, but it was a responsibility that princes and princess had once born into this world. it was truly inconvenient, but it was for the sake of their people. The bond took a light breath at her scoff, closing his eyes for a short second before listening to her. it was cold as this winter was going to be. "I wouldn't expect anything else at this point." He told her gently, with a light tone to it. He was trying his best not to get annoyed but it was becoming a thorn in his side. Marriage was a scary thing, and the things expected of marriage scared him even more. How could he have an heir when this woman didn't even want to talk to him fully? He would never force himself upon her, but the way things were going, it seemed his family name would die out with the rest of the supernaturals because of her suborn nature.
Rheagar felt like he needed to lay down after all of the thoughts going through his head but the sound of Ophelia's voice tor him form them. "Well, do you enjoy any hobbies?" Many girls enjoyed embroidery, painting, poems, singing, and so on. It would most likely surprise him to hear her answer. But he would like to see that. A fierce woman drawing a bow or fighting with a sword.

Although his tone was relatively light, Ophelia could tell that she was pushing his patience with her in his response. She felt bad, as he had been nothing but gracious towards her so far despite her terrible behavior, but... these were the kinds of things she had been hoping for in acting this way, right? She turned her head away slightly so that the prince would not see her slightly ashamed expression. Choosing not to respond to the statement, she moved on to his question about her hobbies. "Archery." She replied after she was sure she could sound dignified once again. Then she went on to add in a few other things in attempt to show at least some amount of effort in this conversation. "Horseback riding. Music. I suppose I enjoy dancing as well..." She ventured, glancing at Rheagar out of the corner of her eye briefly and wondering whether they danced the same dances in Renos as they did in Antares. She wasn't sure why this question came to mind. Perhaps because it was one more thing that would put distance between them if the dances were not the same. Or perhaps she was hoping to learn something new after having done all of the same dances over her entire life. The thought that it could be one thing they might have in common if the dances were the same touched her mind, but Ophelia pushed it away just as soon as it entered.
The princess looked up at him then, her head tilted slightly to the side, waiting to see what his response might be or whether any of the things she had listed peaked his interest. Part of her hoped that all of those things -- aside from the music and dancing -- would sound too rough for a princess to be doing. The part of her that dreaded having any common interests with Prince Rheagar. The part of her that wanted him to think that she was beastly and unruly and completely out of line. However, she also found a very small part of herself that thought that if there was even one interest they shared, maybe she would be less terrified of what she knew was going to be forced upon her, one way or another, in the end. This time when that thought came to her she didn't push it away. Having anything at all in common with this stranger would ease her greatly, though she might not be willing to show it. ooc: Terrible! I had to fight off a cold before it started last week >.< Thankfully I did! I hope you feel better soon! <3 haha
