Niamh was wondering about the forest venturing further then she had previously since coming to these lands with her sister who took off on her own path. They were both independent even though they only ever had each other. She liked the quiet of the forest but she did find she missed interactions with more then just her pray. She found herself talking to a rabbit that she intended to eat, needless to say she let it go out of boredom as it wasnt much of a conversation. She sighed as she decided to observe from the trees, leaping with deft paws onto the nearest limb and leaped through a few trees going just a little higher as she went along from tree to tree. She decided to rest and enjoy the view when she came to a slight opening in the trees near a small pond. Light streamed in a sparkled on the waters surface. She perched herself on a sturdy outstretched limb that let some sunlight warm her back as she laid and watched the wind cause ripples. She laid and just thought, contemplating what to do next, wandered what her sister had discovered and if she was well.

Mac Lir flapped his wings a couple of times, breaking the wind tension beneath his feathers and dropping down lower and lower and cutting into a spiral on his way down. He'd spotted the pond from the air and was thirstier than he remembered ever being in his life. He'd been flying a while now with no real aim - and as such he'd accidentally wandered away from known water sources. He was trying to find some new adventure. Since his friend Asli had recently lifemated he was trying to give them space. For a time Mac Lir had found comfort in the intimate company of a rather eccentric mare, but even that had grown cold over time. If he possessed the ability to doubt himself Mac Lir might worry that his company was undesirable.
He laughed to himself as he landed in the shallows by the shore and dove his face into the cool water to drink deeply. It was unseasonably warm for winter, with no hint of snow or ice and rather springlike temperatures. Still, the there was a hint of cold in the breeze and in the water, which was refreshing. He drank deeply and with abandon before becoming satiated and lifting his head to look around. The cool water lapping at his legs and covering his feet made him shiver and he shuddered.
He stopped dead when he noticed her. She must have been there the entire time, watching him descend and splashing about in the pond. He wanted to feel sheepish and embarrassed. Wanted to, but his better nature overrode any sense of shame he might have had. Instead he changed direction and approached her confidently, smiling charmingly. "Why hello there! So sorry for dropping in unannounced!"

Niamh was enjoying the quite but was getting bored she had to admit. She thought about going hunting for a snack but though a tad bored it was relaxing with the cooling breeze. Though soon the quiet was disturbed by the sound of wings. Her interest was peaked when she saw the source of the sound. Black of body with colorful hair and a tail of feathers and huge wings? Was this another type of soquili? She had seen those that fly sure, but none with feathers like a bird. She thought the feathers she and her sister had made them one of a kind, but she was pleasantly surprised. He also had clawed feet like a bird which was very unusual. She watched as he spiraled down to the pond. She held a snicker back as he helped himself to the cool water almost greedily as if he hadnt had water in a week. When he seemed to satisfy himself he finally seemed to take notice of her. She softly jumped from her perch in front of him, a hint of a smile on her face but laughter in her eyes. "It's not my pond or anything, I just happened upon it while wandering the woods.", she said calmly. She looked him over studying his features, especially his feathers and claws before she spoke again. "You are a strange one....what are you exactly Ive never seen someone like you. Granted Im still new to these lands so forgive me if Im a little forward.", she stated with a slightly dry chuckle.

He felt her eyes on him and he flexed subtly, shifting to better show off his considerable attributes. He returned her appraising gaze, taking in her graceful beauty from her claws up to the feathers in her mane. His grin widened as he considered how much of a "type" he seemed to have. Not only in the lady department, but his closest male friend also had paws. He twitched his own claws thoughtfully. Perhaps they somehow attracted each other? He pushed the thought aside for a later time when a gorgeous female wasn't staring at him.
"Well it seems that perhaps fate has intervened to have us meet then." He flexed his wings open slightly, looking her up and down again as she called him strange. "I'm a hippogryph, or at least half. Some of us have beaks, I'm told. Funny, with your feathers I would think you at least part 'gryph... do you not know your heritage? It's ok if you don't; I don't know my parents really. I grew up mostly alone myself."

Hippogryph you say? Hmm, I suppose I may have some in me, but I cant say for sure. I dont have memories of any parents. The earliest memories I have are of my sister and I wondering in cold place. We taught ourselves most everything, picking things up from those we'd see about. So anything is possible. Good you dont have a beak otherwise you'd resemble my favorite snack a bit too much.", she said with a more genuine chuckle at her slight joke. She looked him over more, realizing despite his 'birdy' attributes he was quite handsome but not that she'd let that on to him, but his stance seemed to give off a slight air of pride....like he knew he wasnt shabby looking. She smirked to herself thinking she didnt think she was too bad looking herself not that she had ever had any real male encounters. She moved closer to him, looking at his claws and then closely at his huge wings before returning to a more normal distance. "Interesting indeed. Talons must come in handy with hunting in and from the trees. My claws are good but talons like yours could have more advantages in some situations. Do you hunt? Oh forgive me I haven't introduced myself, My name is Niamh.", she said with a graceful bow of her head and gentle smile.

"If you have some gryph in you, it's well diluted. You have a few feathers, but nothing else." He shrugged with a charming smile, not really any more interested in her specific bloodline than he was in his own. "I'm glad I don't resemble your favorite snack too much," he added with a chuckle, sharing her joke.
He let her examine him, standing straighter and unfurling his wings slightly at her scrutiny. He found it amusing to be looked at in such a way. She was direct, confident, strong. She was fascinating.
"Oh yes, talons are a great help in the hunt. Having these and the ability to fly open up my range of prey. I can even take down the larger foes." He spoke with no small amount of pride. He and Asli often were in competition, trying to perfect their skills together. "I'm Manannan Mac Lir, at your service." He returned her bow and gave her a wink. "You can call me Mac Lir or simply Mac, if you prefer."
