Lace was very much new to the whole chaos aspect of her life now, and wasn't sure what her path now meant. She was to search for senshi, but also maintain relations with the nega officers and help them with their end goals of energy draining and....other things.
Instead of actively seeking out senshi though, she had been partnered with a lieutenant that was very young but very big...and very tall...and very angry looking.
Instead of talking to him though, she....cowered behind a light pole as that was all there was to hide behind.

He really didn't get this. Like... at all. Not a bit. Zero. Zip. Nada. The lieutenant was lost at freaking sea in confusion and he wasn't exactly the person in the room with the most subtle anger.
Seraphinite was not a fan of senshi. Though he was... grudgingly beginning to show less distain for those in the service of the Negaverse, and had heard some of the... ah... Dark Mirror? Those senshi were apparently allies, or could be. But in order to have senshi, you apparently needed guardian cats. Oh he knew some served the Negaverse--he'd seen them around, though he didn't make contact with them.
They looked like normal cats. Mostly. Except they apparently talked. And could do magic stuff.
His combat boots stopped moving, stopped thundering around the room as his hands rested on his hips above the belt that held the holsters for his weapons. Simple wooden swords. Craptastic as should apparently be for any lieutenant. Pale eyes glared down at the black puff ball that stuck out on either side of the light pole.
Unless that magic s**t could be used to fight, steal starseeds, gather energy... or anything else of use, he really didn't get why he had to babysit a kitten.
Grumbling, he finally knelt down, holding out a hand and snapping his fingers lightly towards the cat. "Would you stop hiding?" His voice was gruff, mixing with a sigh as he stared down at her. "What're you called, anyways? They tell you what we're doing?"

"N...No!" She squeaked from her hiding spot, "It's hard, I can't!" She started to crawl away to another spot, her fluff dragging on the ground.
"It's...It's Lace!" She added, "I am to help you!" And she meekly added, "If...If you need help. Magical help."

Seraphinite stared a bit at the dark fluff ball. She was to help him... and yet she... was going to keep hiding? The tiny voice made him sigh a bit, closing his eyes briefly to keep from yelling.
Opening them again, he... tried to make his voice a bit softer. Tried. Didn't take away the full rough edge, but he could at least make his volume lower. Scaring the guardian wasn't going to get him anywhere if she was just going to freaking run off and hide somewhere else... and if the point was to help him, then like hell was that gonna happen hiding in this room. "Nice to meet you, Lace. I'm Seraphinite."
Getting a... slightly awkward idea, he leaned forward until he was propped up on his forearms, bent over so he was... slightly more on her level. "I don't have magic, so... guess magical help would be good. But we can't stay in here." He motioned a little to the room around them. "So. What can I do to help you get out of here so you can help me?" He had no idea how guardians worked. Could he just... pick her up by the scruff? Should he? Should he go find a can of tuna and bribe her out with that?

"Seraphinite." The guardian squeaked and then looked over at him with yellow eyes. Since he seemed to be trying, the guardian felt that perhaps she could possibly...POSSIBLY help him out. She looked over his uniform before crawling over closer to him.
"C...Can I hide in your jacket?" She looked up at him. "That would help me!" she added, "And...and then I can help you. With your aura...or maybe finding some of the 'things'" Her eyes lit up a little, "What do...lieutenants do? Are you....um...different then the senshi?"

Hide in his.... jacket? Seraphinite stared at her a bit blankly--did he really hear that right?--and then sort of looked down at his uniform. Didn't really have pockets so... Frowning a bit, he got back up onto his knees so he could use his hands to start undoing some of the silver buttons that fastened his jacket shut. "I guess so. Would be easier to keep you out of trouble if a fight broke out." Though if they really did encounter that sort of trouble, he'd probably just drop her to hide somewhere a bit safer than on his person--but he figured with him, he could make sure she didn't fall into something...
Once he got about half the buttons undone, showing the black undershirt beneath, he paused and considered her questions, resting his hands on his knees. "Lieutenants... we mostly do the grunt work around here. We gather energy and starseeds, help out Captains and Generals if they want us for something. We... can gather intel, too, if we find anything good." Really, most of his work consisted of fighting, draining, and starseed taking. His head tilted a little as he looked down at her, brow furrowing a bit. Different from senshi? She had to ask?
"Very. They use magic." He paused and pulled his wooden swords from their holsters on his belt, setting them on the ground so she could investigate them if she wanted. "Agents get weapons. Mine are just these... crappy things, but one of my friends started with plastic knives, and now as a Captain has actual daggers. So whenever I do enough to get a promotion, I'll get better weapons."
Did that all work for explanations..? "Anything else you want to know? Ah... let me know if I'm not being clear enough."

"Ye...Yes!" She nodded. Plus she liked warmth and wanted to be warm and safe. His jacket would be her hidey hole! "I see, Well I can help with that I think. I've been told....We have abilities! To make aura's disappear. I have...have to focus though." She scrunched her nose a little at the weapons, coming closer to sniff the wooden swords and then bat at them with her paw.
"Those don't...don't seem like they would help much." Her tail twitched nervously. "I have a beam. Cat beam." She laid down and waited for him to picj her up. "Do you know much about cats? Guardian cats?"

Seraphinite's eyes widened a bit. Make auras disappear..? "That is pretty damn useful," he murmured, mind whirling about as he considered the possible uses for such a thing. The numbers were staggering. A concept that lightened his mood a bit, kept him from objecting when she batted at his rather failure of weapons.
"As you've just demonstrated, they make better cat toys than weapons," he agreed with a smirk, reaching down to carefully lift her up and place her into the pocket of sorts formed by his open jacket. "You alright if I button this back up a bit?" At least by keeping the bottom of his jacket buttoned up, it fit snug enough to his body that he figured he could keep her from falling out if he kept an arm tucked underneath her.
His mind was picturing a hell of a lot of options though for how a... cat beam would work. "About all I know about cats is that buying them cat toys is a waste of time--most seem to just like the ribbon and boxes they come in." Actually managing to chuckle a bit--slightly, only slightly--he looked down at the kitten with a shrug. "Guardian cats awaken senshi. That's about all I know. Besides the obvious of you guys can talk and are far smarter than the average feline. Did they tell you anything else about yourself?"
That was a... strange concept. Having to go to someone else for information on what you even were. Frowning a bit, he found himself muttering, "If not, Negaverse is pretty expansive... might be able to find someone who knows more, or I can at least check the database..."

"I wouldn't pla...play with them either." She offered and hoped it didn't offend him because well...Maybe Silk would. Silk was always looking for people to fight. She preferred her small shinies and to hiding out and slinking away.
"That's okay!" Her head tilted up to look at him with bright eyes, her paws resting on the open part until he buttoned it up. It may be a bit annoying with her fluff collar as well but she was so content in the jacket..."I don't mind you buttoning it up! That...That means I will be snug." She meowed a little.
"I like ribbons!" She exclaimed and then squeaked a little, "S...Sorry, I do like ribbons. and sweet things. I found a cupcake once. Those are really good." She shook her head.
"Not really! A woman, named Laurelite? She told us a little bit, but mostly she just wanted us to find the things." She huffed, "Is there a database I can get my paws on?"

Despite himself, Seraphinite actually laughed a bit. Once he got the jacket buttoned up a bit more--not all the way, else that'd be way too uncomfortable for the both of them, and gave her room to look out without blocking his face with the fluff collar. "So you won't play with wooden swords, but ribbon's fine. Got it." Putting away his weapons, slipping them back into their holsters, he glanced down at the kitten with a new frown. "What flavor was the cupcake? I heard cats can't have chocolate, so not sure if that's bad for guardians."
Ok. So the cat was kinda cute. Even he could admit that. Resting his arm a bit under where she was, he slowly stood, making sure she wasn't falling out--or freaking out--by the movement. Well, at least she'd spoken to the General-Queen. That was... something.
Though clearly not enough. Seraphinite began to wrack his brain, wondering whom around there would know more about guardians. Nodding absently to her question about the database, he grunted a small confirmation. "Yeah. We can find a terminal you can access." His free hand moved to ruffled her fur a bit, boots thudding heavily on the castle floors as he began to make his way out of the room. "....gotta admit, it'll be kinda interesting to see you use a computer there, Lace..."
The mental image of a tiny kitten bouncing across a keyboard was quite hilarious, yeah.

Lace was pretty content in his jacket that when he mentioned leaving, she just purred a small meow out for him.
"It was vanilla, but I don't mind Chocolate!" Lace added, "I don't think we get sick. That would suck!"
She blinked up at him. "I am good with computers" she made herself comfortable and bounced in his jacket a little. She was quite looking forward to negaspace, after all.
