Well, it seemed that he'd been right. Babylon chucked under his breath and took the wrapped package from Hyperborea. "Merci," he said. "Joyeux Noël a tu aussi."
He carefully peeled back the paper. "These are beautiful," said Babylon, smiling warmly at her. The gift did strike him as just a little impersonal. but what really mattered was that Hyperborea had made the effort - he was flattered. "I'll find something to put in these. Thank you for thinking of me."
He folded the paper around the frames once more and tucked them under his arm. "I have something for you as well," said Babylon, as though he'd come prepared for this and hadn't made it up at the last second. He reached his arm under the front panel of his coat and pulled out a Never-Go-Out, which he held out to the squire.
"You never know when you'll need a light," he said.
