Smuggler's cove was an easy port for the Bloodflame to make, and Naita took advantage of this relative ease to go hunting in the stinking forests of Soldul. A shame her partner couldn't come with her, but maybe it was good to be alone, to reflect on her life and how it had changed since the last time she had fought ysali in these woods....
NAH.
Naita didn't give a damn about reflection. She sought fights and food, and she was hoping to sink her teeth into dragonflesh today. Or other flesh. Anything really would do, so long as it was landbound. She needed something other than fish – delicious as fish was – to sate her thirst for blood.
She stalked through the forest, eyes darting at every sound. Any moment now, her prey would be in sight... and then the fun would begin.

Roarke walked through the shadows. His usual emotionless self sliding from shadow to shadow. He knew how this was supposed to go, and he had trained for this. After all, he had been trained from the time he was old enough to handle the smallest of weapons how to use them. He knew a great deal about how to wield several different weapons. His imprinted sword hung at his side as a standard katana. When he wasn't out hunting he had it in the form of a throwing knife, or a dagger.
This was his first hunt, and he was treating it just like he was in the city. He traveled by shadow. His his sound, kept his breathing quiet and even. He was proud of how stealthy he had become. Just as he was congratulating himself on being soundless a small twig caught under his boot and snapped. The sound echoed in his ears and he knew this could mean life or death. It would depend from here what happened. He drew his Katana ready for anything that might come around the large tree his back was to. His ears were almost ringing he was that focused on picking up a sound. All he could do for now was wait.

Naita wasn't exactly the opposite of stealth, but she was not really one for subtlety. Sure, she could be quiet and sneaky like when she had to be, but she really preferred the crash-through-undergrowth-first-ask-questions-later approach to life. She also wasn't the most observant... but when a twig cracked that loudly in an otherwise silent forest, she noticed. It meant something was nearby... hopefully, something more fun than a measly bouken. She walked towards it, barely able to repress the wiggles of anticipation that made her tail lash back and forth, knocking gently against the fungal trees of the forest. She didn't care. Naita had caught a whiff of... something... mixed in with leaves and branches and other scents. She couldn't tell what it was through the heavy smells of the forest... But it was something. She couldn't resist any longer. “Come out, come out, whatever ye are~” she said in a singalong manner, her husky voice too eager for any non-malicious intent. Smoke leaked from her mouth and nose, trailing behind her in grey tufts as she stalked towards the source of the mixed up smell... Meanwhile, hidden from view, a pack of Ysali dragons waited for the right time to ambush the khehora. Her blood and flesh would be useful for their gardens, but she reeked of flame. They would have to strike, and strike with care. They had not, in their plotting and concentration, noticed the hidden magescian... yet. (386/1200)

Roarke waited, and listened. He wasn't about to give up his location completely yet and knew better than to assume nothing had heard him. It was then that he heard the gentle thumping of something. He wasn't quite sure what it had been but continued to use the shadows to his advantage. It was then that he heard the voice. It was a deep but yet sing song voice, this intrigued him. He smirked as he heard the voice tell him to come out. 'If you think I will be that easy then you have another thing coming...' he thought to himself. He wouldn't dare return the comment for that would give away any advantage he would have held in a fight against this opponent. He didn't remember in his readings that the dragons talked, he knew the Khehora did, but he had yet to meet one. His curiosity peaked and he wondered what manner of creature this was that hunted him. He kept his smirk as he waited for the creature to come around the bend, then he would strike. He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly and prepared for the worst. He had no idea that they were being watched by something that could be much worse then the Khehora he was about to meet. ((218/1200))

She walked towards where she thought her prey might be, running through a few options. She could always just pounce onto wherever they were, go for a pin, but it wasn't the most fun out of those options. More fun, of course, would be to flush them out with a nice, hearty gout of flame, but that could bring the forest down on them and forest fires were not fun. Firani or not, she'd be roasted. A milder blast of flame would have to do, then. And some roaring – stars, she loved a good roar. She was sure she was near when... She suddenly tripped. “Oi!” she snarled in protest, looking down at her claw to see a snare firmly gripping her. She spat fire at it, looking around her as the snare burned away, “That weren't fair!” Of course, the snare was not an ordinary trap. It was made of the roots of a living tree. That should have been her clue, but honestly, Naita had no idea that the Ysali were there until the pack leapt out at her, poison glistening on their teeth and claws. “s**t!” she cursed, managing to blast one full on with a fireball before it could claw her. Ysali were the smallest of dragonkind, but they could be nasty – Naita had more than a few scars from them. Plant-born though they were, flammable though they were, Fire did not always win against trees. Naita knew that all too well, and was reminded as their attacks scored her, burning with poison. She turned to face the pack, the smouldering remains of the dragon she had gotten quickly turning to ash and leaving it's soul behind. She had forgotten her other prey – the dragons would require her full attention and maybe, just maybe, she'd be alive to tell the tale later... (695/1200)

Roarke waited and listened for the creature that had spoke before. It was silent for a short while before the crash sounded from behind the large tree. It would seem that his creature had fallen, he remained in the shadows and moved very carefully. This was a delicate moment and he would need his wits about him as he faced whatever was on the other side of this tree. Slowly he inched his way to the edge of the tree and saw the large Khehora. He knew it was a Khehora instead of a dragon from the books and the lectures his "father" had forced on him as a small boy. Still gripping the katana he thought about advancing. That was when he saw the bout of flame and heard the frustrated words from the Khehora It wasn't fair, and that trap wasn't one set by him. He was about to back off as he saw the four Ysali dragons descend upon the other. He took a slow step back further into the shadow of the tree. There would be no winning for him against four dragons. Even if they were one of the weaker classes, he wasn't good enough for that. He listened for a few more moments to the cries of the Khehora. If he didn't save her then she would surely die. He gritted his teeth and set his mind to the task. He would help her. He had decided to help her, and would figure the rest out later. He put all of his power into his legs and jumped into the air. They hadn't spotted him, and that was a good thing. It gave him the slight advantage of surprise. He brought his sword down hard on the back of one of the Ysali as another burned away. He glanced for a moment at the soul that it had left behind on the ground. It was an interesting thing, but one that would need to be dealt with later. He had much larger things to deal with at the moment. He drove his sword further down into the Ysali and hoped it would be enough to bring it to it's end. He was pleasantly surprised as the dragon he had been riding fell and turned into an orb like the other. He would not dare take the time to pick it up or even look at it. There were still two more of these dragons to take down. He moved over to where the Khehora was and stood to her left side facing one of the two remaining dragons. "Picked quite the fight didn't you...?" He said through gritted teeth. He knew there wasn't much time for talk, but still, he hoped she was at least a bit more seasoned than himself. "I do hope you know what you're doing..." Was his last remark as he waited for her to make the next move, or for the dragon in front of him to charge. He had remembered it was always better to keep a calm head during a battle then charge off hot headed. He would let the opponent come to him. He had now lost his advantage and he didn't intend to die on his first hunt. He glared at the Ysali dragon, daring it to make it's move. ((555/1200))

Naita snapped at one of the dragons, just missing them with her powerful jaws as another poisoned gash appeared in her side. She staggered. s**t... Ysali were not to be trifled with, even if they were small or weak. They had it right, though, fighting in a group. Naita wished she'd brought along her crew and wished she wasn't alone in this. She got her wish. Suddenly, she had an ally. She spared a moment to see that he was a magescian, armed and dangerous. A Magescian. Good for a meal, good in a fight. Was that what she'd been stalking? Even if so, if he was helping her, Naita wasn't going to question it. She moved to his side, bleeding from her wounds as she faced down the other two dragons. ”Didn't exactly pick this 'un, matey.” she growled, summoning fire magic to her aid. It came... lazily. She didn't like the slight numbness in her haunches and her head... the poison she thought. Ysali had so many – poison to hurt, poison to disable, poison to kill... She figured she'd been hit by at least a few of those. ”Guess I just be lucky that way.” Her? Know what she was doing? Oh aye, that was a hoot. Know or not, she did have to get down to it, or she'd be dead here. The Ysali knew that well – they still had an advantage though, this was their realm. They conferred – briefly and too fast for Naita to understand – before calling forth their magic. The forest leapt to life around them. Root, vine, and bough reached for the two of them, to bind and choke and bludgeon. More blood for their garden was good. The sacrifices of their kinsfolk would not be wasted. Naita hissed – she wasn't going to burn the forest down around them but she had to do something. ”A'right, Matey. We've got t' get 'em, and we've got t' get em fast.” she dodged out of the way of a set of coiling vines. “How good are ye with yer sword there? Think ye can cut a path, fast-like?” (1053/1200)

DraconicFeline Sorry it took so long. My muse died for a short while... Roarke stood in the battle stance he had learned as a much smaller boy. It would seem his lessons in the courtyard of their home hadn't gone to waste after all. He noticed a tail or a vine, he didn't care which, sneaking close to him and his Khehora companion. Quickly and agilely he brought the sword around in a crescent cut. He was keeping his attention on the Ysali dragons infront of them. He knew from what he had read that they had poisons and he would need to do his best to get away and keep away from their poisonous selves. He glanced to the Khehora as she spoke. He nodded to her. "Yes... I am good enough for this..." He hoped. He saw the opening and decided to go for it as the vines and everything else crashed down around them. It would seem the Ysali wanted them to head straight for them so that is what he would do. "If you can provide Cover...." He hacked at a Vine that came in on them, and yet another. "... I will do my best to get us close to them... Then we take them out... It would seem the Faster the better in your case..." He had noticed the poisoned gashed that had appeared on her hide. Swinging the sword and using most of the cuts, blocks, parries he could muster he managed to hack through to the first of the two Ysali dragons. He brought his sword down and felt the blade cut into the side of the dragon. It hadn't been enough to kill it he knew, but there was so much going on around him that he had nothing else but to keep facing off against the dragon. He felt the sting from his arm and it was only then that he realized he had been cut by the Ysali's tail. He glared at the dragon as he prepared to strike again. He would ignore his arm since he had to. He had to block it out, block out the pain. At least it wasn't his sword arm. He set his mind to keeping the Vines and the Ysali away from them. Hacking cutting and slicing. He could only hope that his new companion would be able to work some sort of miracle. Who would have thought that on his first hunt he would be facing off against not one but FOUR Ysali dragons! ((409/1200))

Naita had her doubts – he was a young Magescian, after all – but she didn't have a choice and he would either prove himself right or they would both probably die. Well, here goes... She thought as she charged ahead at one of the dragons. She let the roots strike her, focusing on not being tripped up as she closed the distance and rammed into them, burying her teeth in it's neck. The bite was not enough to stop it, and it squirmed. It nearly escaped. The point-blank gout of fire, however, was. The dragon toasted in her jaws, dropping to the ground screaming as she dealt it a final blow with her claws. She turned towards the final one with the remaining momentum of her charge, barrelling into it. Her attempt to give it the same treatment failed, however, as it twisted out of her jaws and clawed at her muzzle, but her shoulder struck true. Bone cracked as it was launched into the air, hurtling towards the young Obivionite, and his outstretched sword. Catch... Naita thought playfully, poison-hazed, smoke curling from her nostrils as she gathered her energy for a last-moment fireball... Just in case. (1241/1200)

Roarke watched as the first dragon was reduced to ashes before the Khehora. He smiled as she continued the charge. It was time to take out the second dragon. He held his sword waiting for the chance to strike once the Khehora was out of the way of his strike. They had been working together so he would not repay that with an attack. It was then that he was given his chance. All of a sudden there was a Ysali flying through the air at him. 'Now or never' he thought to himself as he prepared to cut it's head off. He waited until it was close enough, which wasn't long given the strength of the Khehora. He glared as he turned sideways and sliced as the Ysali soared passed him. He poured most of his strength into the swing and cut the head of the Ysali clean off. The body dropped. It glittered for a few moments before nothing was left but it's Soul orb. He looked at it curiously for a few moments before turning back to the Khehora who had helped him. He walked to her, and took a mental note of her injuries. "I do hope they will heal?" He said gesturing to the variety of cuts and wounds she had on her. "Can I help you get somewhere for help?" He would help her since she had helped him. He sheathed his sword once more, hoping the danger was done for the time being. Though it wasn't far should the need arise once more. ((259/1200)) ((1652/1200))

sesshiyasha Could be a good place to finish and lead into another RP? Good, he'd taken her cue. Naita slowed to a stop, panting, giving in to the dubious luxury of feeling her injuries. She knew that neither of them were out of danger yet. After all, she was injured and he ahd a sword. Conversely, she was very hungry after that encounter, and he looked... well, all Magescians looked at least vaguely delicious. They were in uncharted territory, and she watched him with a wariness that was part fear and part deciding whether to char roast him up where he stood. She relaxed when he spoke, decision made. Friends were just as valuable as food, more so, and it seemed that that channel was now open. Well, why not. ”No idea, matey. Stars 'n flame only know what them dragons put on their claws n' teeth.” she said, snorting, ”Could heal fine, could rot off.” she inspected him for wounds, not sure if she saw any or not, ”Could kill me 'fore the wound becomes a problem. Who knows. Ifn' ye got yerself clawed, best to watch out.” There. Advice. That was very friendly and hopefully a sign that she, too, was willing to parley. He was offering to help, after all. ”Er.” Naita didn't want to go back to her ship just yet. ”Depends. Do ye have a place, matey?” She squinted at him, the faint light of the forest suddenly hurting her eyes a little. Bloody poison... she griped. ”Th' name's Naita, by the way.” she offered. If she wasn't going to eat him, he might as well know her name. And she his, if he took the prompt.

DraconicFeline That sounds good to me! <3 Roarke could always use a Pirate who wouldn't mind smuggling in some things for him... or for a price... <3 He nodded to her, the wound on his arm throbbed as he remembered it was there. He listened as she gave the advice, he looked to the arm as she gave it. He nodded his thanks to her, it would seem they were going to be on good terms which made him relax some as well. When she asked if he had a place nearby. There was always his father's house, and he would love to see the look on Caireo's face as he brought home a Khehora. He smiled to himself thinking about it. 'If she came from the harbor or the docks then we are closer to my place instead of hers...' He thought to himself. It was better not to ask where she had come from. When she gave her name he put his hands in his pockets. The silver bell was still in his right pocket. He held the bell and ran his fingers over it as he contemplated. Feeling once more the wound on his arm, he decided it was best to take her to his home. "Roarke... and Yes, I do have a place close... But..." he stopped trying to figure out what he should say, and what he shouldn't say. ".... You will need to listen to me... It might be a bit... tricky...." After all they were going into the aristocratic sector, but luckily his family was one of if not the top family and no one would question him. He smirked, not if they intended to live!

Roarke was his name. All right. And... Naita caught a glint of red. He was injured. Well, maybe their newfound friendship or whatever this was was going to be short lived. Unless... "Do ye?" Naita perked up. "Good, good." Magescians had a wonderful way with not dying from random wounds. She tilted her head. "Aye, sure Matey, I'll follow yer lead." If she didn't die of poisoning first, this was starting to sound like fun. "Show'us the way, eh?"[Fin]
