“Aseara, I ripped my dress again.” Came the voice of one of the dancers who was poking her head through the door.
“Bring it here.” Aseara waved her in and the girl and deposited the dress on the desk before leaving. The Wind girl picked it up looking it over until she found the rip at the back of the dress. The dancer must have stepped on it while dancing from not paying attention. Sighing softly, Aseara dig into the desk and got out a needle and thread to fix it. She was used to fixing her own things and didn’t see the point in seeing a seamstress.
Plus, her skills had gotten quite good recently, she she’d been working on a few dresses all of which hadn’t come out ideally, but Aseara wanted to try one more time. Once she ahd repaired the dress, Aseara got to work on her own project. It was a simple dress but it would be beautiful and that’s what counted. She began by cutting the fabric from the measurements she had taken, and then used the patterns to make the pieces she needed. She hoped the measurements another girl had helped her with would be alright.
Once she had cut out her pieces it was time to get to sewing. Now that was a skill that had taken Aseara a little while to gain. Granted, she had decided to do all the clothing repairs by herself and that had helped her along quite nicely. Even now as she examined her work she was truly satisfied with the outcome of her stitch work. It took her a little longer than she had thought, since she had taken her time, but once completed the dress did look quite beautiful. Now all that was left was to garnish it.
Aseara had planned on leaving the main part of the dress plain, but the top layer she was going to embellish with beads and a nice pattern. She also planned on embellishing the upper part of the dress with the same pattern. She had drawn out a few designs until she’d found one that she had liked. It had looked quite good when she’d asked one of the girls who was good at drawing to put it all together for her on paper. It had turned out nicely and she was going to go ahead with the same pattern.
Embellishing the dress though did take a few days, Aseara ahd to send any repairs that came in to a tailor so she could keep working on her own project. Perhaps it as a little selfish but she wanted to finish it before the week’s end. And indeed the final project was amazing. The dress fit her properly and all the girls came by to see what it was she had created. A few of the girls mentioned something about perhaps getting their own dresses from Aseara too but the Wind girl declined. She would teach them to make their own repairs and their own dresses. Make them a little more independent.
