The chimera thought flying class was fun, not exactly productive but fun. And really, to the party animal, fun was all that mattered. Sure she could have done better with that dance, but she had a partner and well, not every winged Nightmare had the chops to do couple dances. And hey, at least she wasn't partnered up with another chimera. Verve was absolutely certain that that would have been an awful bomb from the get-go. She was doing stretches to cool down from all that activity, arms, wings, and even tail, when she realized someone was standing nearby. She only saw the other nightmare from the corner of her eye, however, and for all she knew, they could just be waiting for her to step aside. "What's up?" she asked, bending backwards to cool down the muscles in her back.

Huni Pi O.o I’m sorry this was lost in my notifications. I’ll link Eve later. Ipad is being a pain atm She had made a mess of things. While it’s true that the flying class wasn’t a life or death grade to pass it was still mortifying to have botched not only her own performance but that of her partner as well. Eveilyn had been trying to figure out what to say and how to apologize for her lack of grace throughout most of class. The small pit where her stomach was decided it was best to get it over with quickly after class rather than let it slowly eat her alive for the next week and a half. As Verve bent backwards stretching Eveilyn was actually surprised how flexible the other nightmare was. Perhaps that was why she was such a good dancer and likely the only chance they had of passing today’s lesson. “I’d like to borrow you for a moment if you have the time.” Eveilyn reached up a hand and brushed her bangs out of her eyes. That had been another slight concern when flying. She would have to bring a clip or something next time she came to class.

Verve blinked in surprise at first before, still bent backwards and therefore looking at an upside down version of her classmate, answered, "Uhhh, sure?" Her brow was quirked even as she righted herself and turned around to properly face the fallen. Her hands were at her side, her stance relaxed and casual, betraying nothing of the anxiety slowly growing in the pit of her stomach. It wasn't as if Verve was paranoid or all that worried about having offended someone, especially a non-chimera, but it wasn't often that the chimera was approached for something at all. "I don't have another class for at least another hour, so no rush." She said with a cheery grin, a hand taking the pair of shutter-shades from her pocket and placing them on their proper place atop her head. Reoakee No worries~ take you time smile

Using her fingers to kneed the edge of her sleeves to help feel a bit less nervous she thought over the things she had wanted to say after their dismal performance and to be honest wanted to just hide or leave a note and not face Verve ever again preferably or at least until the next class they shared. Still the mess up was public and so too should be the apology that was how she was raised at least. It didn’t stop her from being more than a bit nervous. “Thank you. I just wanted to apologize for today.” She cleared her throat and looked at the chimera. “I know that you are a great flying and would have done a lot better with any other partner out there, but I’m not really.” Comfortable flying with others? No that sounded pompous. Skilled? That sounded lame. “used to flying with anyone else, much less dancing while doing so.”
(*hides as quick as possible hoping to go unnoticed*)

Verve visibly did a double-take at the apology, eyes widening as her jaw fell slack with a squeaked: "Ha?" She wasn't entirely sure this was happening. Someone. Apologizing. To Verve? Growing up, it was the other way around. The chimera was pretty much accustomed to pouring out the apologies, sometimes to the point of automatic. Praise was also not something she was accustomed to hearing. At least beyond backhanded compliments or those said out of sarcasm. The chimera didn't know what to do or make of it so she did the only thing she knew to do: Which was to ignore all the bits that didn't make sense and process it later. Or never. Whichever came first. "In my opinion, unless you're part of some synchronized flying club, which bee-tee-double-yew if it does exist I would so join, I don't think a lot of us at the Academy are good at couple-flying." In fact, she leaned in close to whisper to the fallen, "In fact, I don't think our teacher knows how to couple-fly. Like, she didn't do any sort of live demo, did she?"

[… wow I actually tried sounding out the bee-etcc about four times before I realized it was btw…. You know what? Yep Eve gets to suffer that now. Yay social ineptness! ]
Eve squirmed a bit at Verve’s look of surprise. Really was it so odd to think that she wouldn’t apologize for botching things up as bad as she did? Perhaps she came off as haughty or cold? Well Evelyn hardly spoke to others in class so it wouldn’t really be that far of a stretch she supposed. Still after what seemed a moment of processing Verve had her wits back which made Eve feel better.
She couldn’t help but stiffen just a bit when Verve suddenly leaned close, but that was more the sudden invasion of personal space then disgust or anything like that. She relaxed a bit when Verve started talking but couldn’t figure out what the bee-tee-double-yew meant. Still she tucked that away to look up later while the conversation raced onward. “oh.. no she didn’t.” Drumming her fingers on her lips Eve thought about it. “I just assumed it had to do with the fact we were all students and she didn’t want to pick one poor soul to embarrass in one of those awful step up and show the class demonstrations.” Eve couldn’t help but shiver at the thought of having to stand up and do something like dance when she wasn’t used to it all just for an example for the other students.

Verve gave a bark of laughter at the fallen's suggestion that a chimera teacher was trying to avoid embarrassing a student. "You think too nice," she said. "But sure, if that's how you wanna see it, let's go with that." The dark-haired chimera gave a shrug as if it was no concern of hers whether or not Eve was correct. "Anyhoo, is the apology all you wanted to borrow me for?" Verve asked, "En-gee-ell, I wouldn't mind iffin' you wanted to borrow me for another round of dancing. I mean, it don't gotta be in the air or anything but I'd be game either way."

Huni Pi Verve has thrown eve for the biggest loop ever and I love it. Thank you. A blush crossed her face making her want to crawl in her sweater to hide when Verve said she was to nice. It wasn’t niceness per say just that she hated to be called on in a situation like that so where she a teacher she certainly wouldn’t do it to a student. She had started to nod her head to the question but stopped surprised. Really this chimera was willing to endure more mishap or worse possible injury and dance again with Evelyn? In truth Eve would love to have more lessons but the idea was a daunting one given her earlier disaster. Her voice was surprisingly small and shocked herself as she spoke. “I’d like that.” Waving her hand she clarified quickly. “N-not in the air again but on the ground. Maybe?” It was true she wasn’t much of a dancer unless you counted the words spinning around her mind but Verve was amazing enough that maybe she would learn something new, which was always a good thing even when it came with band aids as a price.

Verve's laugh was one of good-natured enjoyment. It wasn't one out of malice or condescension. She genuinely was pleased to hear that the fallen was interested in dancing with her. "Sure, sure, we can dance on the ground. I'm better at that anyway," she gave Eve two thumbs up in agreement. "You want it to be a paired dance or something more individual and free-flow-y?" This was one of those times Verve wished she invested in a good portable music player so she could have some tunes ready to go at a moment's notice. She technically had one but that was from her family and the chimera tried not to be too reliant on the things they'd given her. For now, she was tapping out a rhythm using her hand on her hip. Reoakee We can do the "roll dice" thing to determine if they do better or not XDDD If you prefer they just do better, I'm okay with that too XD

Huni Pi Hi… we’ve never really talked. I’m an evil bad owner….. let’s roll those dice! The game before was 2d12 and even, even or odd, odd passed while mismatched did not correct? Verve may have just as well asked Eve to explain quantum physics. Wide eyed she swallowed hard. “um paired?” She really couldn’t dance a set dance how was she going to do a free flowing one? At least with a paired dance Verve could take lead. That wouldn’t be quite as bad, Eve hoped anyway. She tried flexing her wings just slightly to the rhythm that Verve was tapping out. She hoped that if she could at least keep rhythm that it wouldn’t be the disaster that last time was. She actually did feel a lot better about this with her feet on the ground. There was a feeling of stability and balance that were much harder to control in the air when flailing around like a fish out of water. Nervous she held out her hands ready to start when Verve was. "H-here goes."

Verve took the fallen's hands and took the lead. They started out well at first, a little bit of in-place shuffling to get accustomed to each other's pace and length of their steps. But then of course Verve, ever the party animal, may have, um, gone a little overboard and decided to twirl Eve in place. Without giving her any warning in advance. Maybe if Verve took a few seconds thought and gave her partner a heads up the resulting attempt might have been better. Thankfully, Verve was just going to laugh it off. She didn't mind going at it a few more times but after that attempt at a twirl, communication clearly was important. "If you wanna stop, I'm cool with that. If you wanna keep going, I'm totes down for that too."Reoakee I thought I already edited this. I think I dreamt that. I am so sorry!

The twirl made Eve dizzy with its suddenness. Still Verve had been able to laugh about it in a way that wasn’t cruel or mocking and even managed to make Eve smile about it herself. Twirling with Verve the last time had been pretty fun as Eve had finally gotten the hang of it. “Well I’m hardly the dancer you are so I think I’ll call it quits soon but still thank you Verve. I already fell like I’m doing better and a bit less inclined to fall flat on my face.” Squeezing the other nightmare’s hand gently Eve couldn’t even being to tell Verve how much better that one thing made her feel. Eve could dance with words all day long but dancing even on the ground with someone else was something that instantly brought anxiety so being able to manage this simple little bit made Eve feel relieved and better. “Reading about dancing and making poems about it is worlds away from actually doing it.”
(Verve rocks. I must say this)

The chimera gave Eve's hand a reassuring squeeze in response as they settled down after finishing. Verve stepped back and gave Eve a bow and as she straightened up said "Don't sell yourself short, you kept at it and kept up." Which was always a plus in Verve's book. She sure as heck rarely had the motivation to keep at anything that she found frustrating or boring or scary. "And dancing with words is hella harder for me. You wouldn't mind iffin' I come to you for some help with stuff from Lyra's class?" she asked, grinning from ear to ear. Verve gave the fallen a wink to suggest that she was just teasing about that and at the same time said nothing in order to leave the possibility that she was absolutely serious.

Eve blushed at the compliment she didn’t think simply continuing to try was that impressive. She did smile brightly at Verve’s question. “Of course. I would be glad to help with any word assignment.” The truth was she liked anything better when it dealt with words rather than lots of motion. Creative writing was gentle and fresh air and history was deep and meaningful. Even if Verve never took up her offer just the thought was enough to make Eve happy. Right now she was midway through working on a set of villanelles for a side project for fun. Gathering all her things she knew she had to move onto the next class. “Thanks again… It was well it wasn’t as bad as I was thinking it was going to be.” Brushing her bangs aside again she gave Verve a grateful bow. “I look forward to seeing you in another class.”
