There he sat, on the roofs of one of DCU's buildings--one of the more inconvenient ones to go to because of its distance from the parking lot--staring out into the school and what he could see of the rest of Destiny City from that vantage point. It was already dark out and he was contemplating a patrol; he'd finished his homework (miraculously) and he had a few days before his nearly completed project was due, and ever since getting patched up he hadn't been doing a whole lot as far as being a knight again was concerned.

He had a day-life, after all, and in all honesty it was currently his priority.

"To power up or not to power up," the man waffled as he sat there, sipping his favorite holiday-flavored latte from his favorite coffee stop. "That is the question."

Quote:
Corinth landed on a nearby building, just about ready to start his patrol route. He was pretty easily seen from across the way on the other building, and he was not aware that Dominic was there or that the man was waffling with the concept of powering up.

Corinth looked out over the city himself, hopeful that tonight would be uneventful if nothing else. He was hoping he might get to spend some time with his girlfriend later, but chances of that would be slim if he ran into a youma or negaverser.

Still, he had to be out and about. It was his job after all…

With a sigh he sipped on, still shaky on the idea of spending his night out in the cold actually scouring the city for trouble to get rid of. Or contribute to, considering some fights actually damaged property. With any luck the patrol would go smoothly and he didn't run into anything though? Hm.

He glanced about to make sure that no one else was around, which was when he noticed that someone had landed on a roof just across the way. A familiar someone with a drum on his person, he noted (mainly by shape, so it was more an assumption really), so he looked around him for a small, weighted thing before he stood, grinning.

Turning to face whoever it was, he chucked the pebble at them before finishing up the rest of his coffee.

Quote:
PLINK! The pebble bounced across a pipe and by Corinth’s face, so he blinked and turned his head in the direction of where it had come from. Squinting his eyes, he wasn’t quite sure if there was someone on the other building but then - pebbles do not magically fly on their own.

Taking a running start, he vaulted across the expanse and hopped to the next building. Landing with a bit of a skid before turning to face Dominic.

“Oh, hey! Fancy seeing you up here at this hour… Navel gazing?”

That’s all he could really think, given Dominic’s… issue.

"It was you!" he laughed, jogging over to him and offering a hand for a greeting. "Lighting on these roofs suck but I thought I recognized that thing." He nodded toward the knight's weapon. It was a relief to be right; to have shot a pebble at a Negaverser and started a fight while stuck as a civilian would have been...problematic.

"Navel gazing?" he went on with a brow raised in question. "Not sure what that means but probably not? I've been wondering what to do with my spare time tonight. Power up or just settle in for a quiet Netflix marathon, maybe do a project at home."

Quote:
Corinth raised a brow slowly. “I thought you couldn’t…. Did you manage to… solve your issue?” There was hope in the young man’s voice. The kind of hope one hears when talking about terminal illnesses being thwarted and lives extended.

“Well you already know what my vote would be in this situation, if you’d like some company on a patrol, I’d be more than happy to travel with you.” It would be nice not to patrol solo again.

Soon it wouldn’t be an issue and Dallol would be at DCU with him but until then… Nope, she needed to focus on her studies.

"Yeah, check it out!"

Dominic clothes his eyes for only a moment and summoned his weapon to him. He felt a blanket of warmth in that instant, and when he opened his eyes again he had his staff in his hand instead of his coffee, and he was wearing his knightly Ashur garb.

"Ashur Squire, at your service!"

That answers that.

"Sure, a partner to patrol with would be good. I'm still getting used to balancing school and life and powered business so someone to help keep my head on straight would be great."

Quote:
Corinth grinned and he couldn’t help it, he applauded. Granted it was… Okay it wasn’t that impressive really when it was one person, but really what could he do? With a nod he chuckled and looked out over the city.

“Yeah, I get you there, it’s rough balancing s**t but you get used to it!” Turning his attention back to Ashur he chuckled. “Is there anywhere in particular you want to check out? I don’t mind going off my normal route today.”

He really didn’t, this was great news!

"Thank you, thank you," he said in a mock old-king sort of voice, bowing in jest as the other knight applauded him. A laugh followed soon after, when he couldn't quite keep a straight face anymore, and soon his eyes followed Corinth's gaze to the city.

"That's the plan. I figure I'll have better luck on the powered front when school's out, meantime I'm doing what I can."

"I haven't figured out a route yet, to be honest. I'm trying to map out the quieter portions of the city that are close to 24-hour stores and stuff like that. Places where civilians are moving away from the crowd and are alone for the rest of the walk home. Seems like those might be ideal places for Negaversers to strike, y'know?"

Quote:
Corinth nodded. “Yeah, they have to pick their targets off one-by-one it seems like, unless they work in groups and even then…” He shuddered to think of what it would be like to have a roving pack of Negaverse officers working in a group. Anarchy probably. Complete and utter anarchy.

To that point he nodded his head. “There’s a few of those close to the campus, so maybe we start there and work our way further out? I’m not sure how much time you want to put into a patrol tonight, or if you have other things you need to get done?”

He nodded as well, turning his eyes back to the other knight.

"My memory's still spotty but I don't think I've ever encountered them more than one at a time. I mean, minus that one incident that ended with the factory fire, and that was…." he recalled bits and pieces at best, and none of it was pretty.

"Anyway," he continued with a slight wave of his hand. "Yeah, lead the way. I've got all night, dude so let's get some work done."

Quote:
Corinth nodded and with a quick leap, moved back to the other building he had started on, from there, it was out and into the city proper, where the jumping required far less timing and skill to pull off. Still he felt a bit wary. It would be just their luck to run into something. If it came to that though, he was prepared to fight as best he could.

Granted, he was hoping that wouldn’t need to be the case. After a few leaps he stopped near a 24 hour store and started to scan for signatures.

Nothing yet.

Ashur followed just a few steps behind Corinth, a grin spread from ear to ear. The rush was...relaxing despite the harsh cold that hit his face at the speed that they were going. When eventually they came to a stop he took to one side of the building, an eye down at the few civilians that were scattered on the streets below.

"Nothing, huh?" he asked, noting the obvious lack of chaos signatures in the area. He wasn't hoping to run into any trouble, of course, so it was said with some relief. "Do we keep moving or stay perched here?"

Quote:
Corinth thought about it for a moment and then leaned a bit against a nearby wall. “We can hang here for a bit - make sure the area stays clear for a while then move on to another potential hotspot, you never know when they may show up.” Corinth said with a small nod.

“Besides, we’re in no rush, right?”
