Lucius has a very determined outlook on his goals, and will stop at nothing to achieve them. Though he may hesitate from time to time, if it ever comes down to furthering his vision for the future or anything else at all, his vision will come first. Beneath his coarse manner is a man with (what he believes to be) good intentions, however, with his eyes set straight ahead on the future.

Growing up, Lucius was highly sheltered as a child, disallowed to wander out beyond the streets of the city, but consequent to his being away from wild Pokemon for so long, he learned quickly about how close they could be with people. While this afforded him an idealistic view of people and Pokemon, when he finally grew up and ventured into the wild, his vision was shattered when he was attacked and nearly incapacitated by a wild Drowzee. Unable to comprehend exactly how Pokemon could be so aggressive and assuming his own fault in the matter, he began working on a way to bring people closer to Pokemon, believing it would improve matters universally with trained and wild Pokemon alike. This eventually led to the forming of his trusty team, Excellus, and after years of tireless research and development, he began authorizing experiments that many would deem questionable..
