Quote: Title is the House Words of House Smallwood, the theme will be strong! The meeting had left a bad taste in her mouth.
There had been a lot of talk about family, about the connection that they all shared, about how anyone of the people in that room would sacrifice themselves for another. It was all bullshit and she could not cope with their fantasy, brainwashing or their delusion. They were strangers with almost cult like tendencies and it made her feel trapped. The brunette was left with the feeling of anxiety bubbling in her stomach and it was almost suffocating.
Mjolnir knew she had no interest in being apart of a family like that.
They were two things that bound the DMC in her eyes, one of which was there small numbers which made them desperate for control over every member, and the second the hold the Negaverse had over them - either from fear, manipulation or misplaced affection.
No, the White Moon were no family, but they were free to fight the battles they believed in, fight for the people they believed in for futures they believed in. Not one of them where forced to be a family in the first place. She did not want to follow them deeper in the Mirror, she wanted...
She sighed, her heels tapping against the sidewalk as she made her way through one of Destiny City's abandoned districts, the area littered with deserted warehouses and abandoned cars. She wanted to be alone, but stayed powered up incase she wasn't. Places like this were dangerous, even for Senshi.
Worse than all of that, she could still feel the stabbing pain that manifested in her chest as Jett spoke out. Had she made a mistake trusting him again? She squinted and rested a hand over her heart, She had just placed all her ducks neatly in a row...
How did it always come to this?

A bitter taste lingered in his mouth after he'd left the meeting. No, it wasn't Rem's fault. The cookies had helped--yes he'd grabbed some food off the table to take home, why not? Free was free. But the bitter taste lingered and made his skin crawl.
In all his time since awakening... he really never got to know the rest of the court. He'd met Rem. That was... it. Most of his time spent as Loke? Was with agents of Order. Knights. Senshi. He found them more sociable. Found them more... interesting. Not that he'd spent much time as Loke at all during the past... what, year? More? Devlin rarely powered up.
Rarely had a reason to. Rarely wanted to.
Now? He was doing it because he was bored. That was half the reason he'd agreed to go to the meeting. He was bored and wanted a way out for a while.
But what had he learned? That this concept of 'family' extended only so far. Clearly not everyone was keen on it--and there was a way to get out. Some had... purified. It was... an amazing concept to him, though one he wasn't sure how to approach.
It took him a while to figure out he was tailing another Dark Mirror power signature. His boots thudded lightly against the sidewalk, and Loke unhooked his thumbs from the cloth belt. The trinkets chained to his hip clinked together like damn wind chimes and he sighed, moving forward at a quicker pace.
When he spotted her... well. Call him amused.
"Didn't realize it was you. Not that I'm complaining," he called up the street to her, figuring he wasn't the only one sensing the auras. "Mind if I join?"

He was already close to her by the time she had sensed his aura, she would have liked to think it was because she was distracted, but it was more likely due to her lack of talent when it came to the magical qualities that senshi possessed. Aura reading was never something she was particularly good at and it had meant that people had been able to ambush her on more than one occasion. It seemed to come naturally to some people, and made her bubble with jealousy, though she would never admit it.
Deep down, Mjolnir knew she was a complete failure as a Senshi.
"Oh, its you." Her tone was as sarcastic and unimpressed as one might imagine given the circumstances. Loke had been a new face introduced to her at the meetings, one that she had warned to stay clear of her if he knew what was good for him. But it seemed like he was forsaking that advise. Not wanting to repeat herself she let out a small sigh, if he was so determined to stick around then there was nothing she could do to deter him.
The brunette turned to look at him, folding her arms across her chest with a cold look painted across her face. Admittedly, the situation she had just come from had made her even more opposed to company than she usually was...
Not that she was ever really what anyone would call welcoming or sociable at the best of times.
"Do as you please, it is no concern of mine. However, if you are looking to make friends I must warn you that I do not play nice at the best of times, and especially not after a meeting like the one we have just had." She pouted, golden eyes drifting to the side to stare blankly at their bleak and abandoned surroundings. Loke had not been the source of her frustration, but seeing another senshi with a dark bodice and translucent shawls reawakened the bubbling feeling of anger in her stomach.
"What a joke." She muttered under her breath.

If Devlin wasn't as much of an a** as he was, as willing to just fill a conversation as he was--when his own interests prompted it--then... yeah he'd have left. It was perhaps then Mjolnir's misfortune to have caught his attention at the meeting. Congratulations. She was now the second person within the court he somewhat knew.
That spoke volumes, really.
Walking forward, he gave a theatrical shrug, huffing a bit. "Fine by me, Valkyrie. I can make my own conversation if you won't fill in the blanks." To be fair, he wasn't sure what sort of ground he was treading on here. If she ended up taking a swing at him after her reaction to the meeting... he'd not be entirely surprised.
"They're grasping at straws. Some of their own's been leaving, and the rest ain't close enough to give a ********. Yeah we all felt the damn effect of it, but only people who gave a ******** were those who've been here a long a** while." It'd been obvious at least. The majority were newer to the court. Mostly brought in, and far as he could tell... left to wander.
"If it's pissing you off, why focus on it? They're all sitting on their hands as it is."
Quote: EDIT: 04.06.2019 -- given the passage of time, I've edited in a small wrap up to this Rp below here to be able to mark this as finished. Though another post was made after this one, I've chosen to not post again due to not feeling remotely comfortable pulling this Rp up to the front of the guild again. He'd no idea what the cost of what being forced into the 'family' was. He'd no idea what happened to people who were White Moon first, Dark Mirror second. Memories were gone. Willingly or not, they were gone.
He'd been disturbed by this, and Loke later left feeling sick to his stomach. Purifications happened, you could go from Dark Mirror to White Moon... but what was that cost? Memories, but also, it seemed, your whole life. No family, no nothing. It was a sickly concept to him, when he returned home. His parents might not know him anymore. What, would they just think their son was dead?
Devlin forced the thoughts away, sick and vile, and shoved his pen into a drawer on his dresser. He hadn't signed up for this. He hadn't signed up for any of this s**t.

"I am beginning to think they were the smart ones. Side swapping comes with consequences - heavy ones at that; if they were willing to sacrifice so much to join order they must have seen something very wrong with this court." To give up everything they knew, everything they were; they would not have done it if it was not their only choice, if it was not the only way forward. She clenched her firsts and tried to keep her temper - they all talked about it like it was orders fault, like they held no blame in the desertion of their friends.
Like they had not drove them away.
"I think its because they wanted to fight. Fight back at chaos without the restrictions, without being told they are wrong to do so. I can understand that, understand the ache of feeling helpless; and doing nothing as monsters rip the world apart. We are a court of cowards; too scared to make a move because we know we are weak. So our answer is to run?"
"If they lost their friends; I have no sympathy. They have themselves to blame and the unwillingness to evolve with just mean more will follow." That was not completely true; she could not help but feel sorry for someone who felt the sting of loss pierce their heart. Though, the definition of insanity was doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. Their wounds were self inflicted and they were delusion to think the betrayal they suffered was anything else.
Golden eyes snapped to the other senshi as she turned around to face him head on.
"Of course it is going to piss me off. I lost everything when I was corrupted into this family; my home, my life, the people I cared about - it is because of this court that I do not even have my name." She hissed, she could not ignore what was going on. She had never had a choice in the matter.
"I did not have all that taken from me for this."
