Time had passed very quickly after he moved into Fi's home, each day seeming a little more blissful than the last. Every morning he'd wake up with the faunness in his arms before they parted for their respective jobs, but they always came back in the evening to spend quality time together. Though a lot of times that meant being in the same room while preparing for the new arrivals.

Seeing each other every day though meant the change of her belly seemed so gradual to him. Like they had all the time they could hope for until the baby (or babies) were due. But as he lay awake in bed after a nights rest, her bulging belly brought him to reality. Her belly was huge.

Kaiden scooted a little closer against the clothier, snuggling up to her soft warm fur. In any case, it probably wasn't today. So he was fretting for no reason.

Fi had spent the last season in a state of confused bliss. Almost every time she looked down at her slowly expanding stomach, she'd have forgotten why she was gaining so much weight. It helped when they started moving, and kicking. She could place a hand on the bulge and be reminded there was someone growing inside her. Kaiden had been so sweet in taking care of her since the fight, she wasn't even sure she deserved him anymore.

Phiona was still half asleep when Kai snuggled up to her. It brought a smile to her face as she shifted to curl into him as best she could. Her mind may not have remembered she was with child consistently, but her body sure did, and it was making sure she was uncomfortable enough to start waking for the day. She sighed, starting to twist to face Kai and bid him a good morning. "Goo- ow." She frowned, not sure what had caused that twinge of pain. Right in her back too. Weird.

When the orange faun stirred in his arms he smiled softly, a little guilty at waking her but happy to start the morning with her. "Good morning." He finished for her as he kissed her forehead. "Is our little one kicking you?" He figured that was why the 'ow'. The baby had been increasingly active the past few days.

She smiled, looking up to him. "Little one?" Fi blinked, only to look down at her stomach in almost horror before she smiled again. That's right, she loved her big tummy. She was okay with it changing what she wore while a miracle worked inside of her.

"Oh! Baby~" Fi turned the smile back to Kaiden. "I thiiiiiiiink so?" She winced in the middle of her words, feeling that sharp twinge again. Maybe it was time to sit up.. "Can you help me up?" She hated to stop the snuggling, but seemed like laying down was the last thing their baby wanted her to do. Oblige she must.

This had turned into a very common occurence, so he wasn't in the least bit surprised at her confusion at a baby. He only smiled with love and understanding as realization dawned on her. "Of course Fi." He gave her one more nuzzle before sitting up. He slipped an arm under her to hold her back in order to slowly lift her upper half up to a sitting position. "Can you describe the pain to me?" Since she often forgot she was pregnant, remembering what pains were normal for her fell onto him. Like the occasional cramp, dull back pain, or a sharp kick in the stomach were all routine by now.

Grateful for the help to sit up, Fi shifted. Kissing his hand once it was free enough for her to grab and put near her face. "Thank you Kai~" She was happy to go a minute without the stabby pain in her back.

"Describe it? Ummm..." She chewed her lip, thinking the best way to describe it. "Lots of ow. Kind of stabby riiiiiight," She put a hand on her back where it hurt the most, "there." And then there was another one starting. She winced again, holding the face longer while the pain lasted longer than before.

He grinned at the kiss before moving the smooched hand to her back where she touched. The male gently started rubbing the area, thinking it was just sore muscles.

But it was in multiples, and seemed to really hurt. He frowned lightly, still massaging the area. "Maybe we should get you to infirmary, just in case. Its been a few weeks since we last checked in anyway."

Fi was about to nod when the pain ramped up a good number. "Nnng!" She groaned, putting a hand on her stomach. Once it passed, her breath started again. Heavy breathing, enjoying the oxygen flowing into her again. Blessed Earth whatever Baby was doing hurt like none other. It was roughly then she realized Kai's hand was on her back.

"That feels nice Kai" She tried to not sound like she'd just endured a ton of pain. It was a little hard with the panting, but it was her best. Fi tried to smile for him, pretty positive they wouldn't make it down to the infirmary.

It seemed like things were escalating so fast. In a moment he went from 'maybe' going to the infirmary, to definitely. He moved his arm which was rubbing her to wrap around her waist. "Come on, lets go, right now. You'll be fine, we'll be fine."

What...what if she was having the baby right now? He wasn't equipped for that! They had to get to the professionals!

Fi tried to get up at his prompting. Even with his help it wasn't happening. Every time she tried to get up, it just brought more of the crippling pain around. She shook her head, clutching the swollen mass that was her stomach. If she concentrated enough, she could feel her body quivering, trying to brace itself for the pain.

"Not going to make it Kai" Fi panted, looking up at him hopelessly. "the baby is coming, and it's now" forgetful as she was, Fi knew what was happening finally. It was time.

Getting out of bed wasn't an option. She couldn't really move, and he didn't know if picking her up would hurt her stomach. So if she couldn't go to the infirmary, maybe he should take somefaun from the infirmary to her! He straightened as his silver eyes glanced at the door.

That was so far away though. The baby was coming now! A green hand reached up to grip his head. Did he stay or did he go?

A compromise. He'd run out to the hallway, yell for help, and come right back. He wouldn't be far, and maybe someone could help him. "Okay. Okay. I'll be right back. I swear. Just going to get help, I'm not going far." With that he kissed her forehead before dashing out of the room, through the living quarters, and out of the knook. "Help! Some faun help! I'm having a baby!"

Yawning and stretching, Twinkleshine couldn't help but revel in her moments off and away from the clinics. After the explosion, she'd really delved herself into learning as much as she could about all things medicine, and sometimes she could go for days without leaving the infirmary. Couldn't help it when there was still so much to learn!

Today, however, had been a much needed break from those stresses, giving her time to contemplate the finer things in life: like if/when Noteworthy was going to follow up with that offer for drinks at the tavern. She couldn't help but be a little bit giddy at the thought of getting to catch up some more with an old acquaintance, after all...

Her stream of thought, however, stopped at the sound of a familiar voice. "Kai...?" she murmered aloud before rushing over. "Oh no no no...! Is it that time already?! Where's Phiona; is she alright?" she finished speaking just as she came to be directly in front of him.

Fi grit her teeth as Kai left in a panic. She knew why he was leaving her, and she didn't want to stop him, but that didn't stop the pain from telling her she needed him so badly. A moment later she exhaled, bringing in the fresh air she'd neglected to take in while the pain seared her to a crisp.

A few sharp, short breaths, and she was gritting her teeth again. Thank goodness she was able to grip something and hold on tight, this really hurt. "GAAAH!!" She screamed, unable to keep it quite. This one was just too much. The orange lady really didn't like whatever this was. She hoped Kai would be back soon with someone to help them. This wasn't fun.

At first all that greeted him was silence. Panicked, horrible seconds where his mind raced. What if no one came? He'd have to go in there again, alone. It wasn't supposed to be like this, none of this was supposed to happen in this manner. By stone, he had time! He thought he had time...

But the silence was broken by the clopping of hooves. His head snapped to the side as relief washed over his features. "Twinkleshine! Thank the spirits!" He didn't know enough words to express how happy he was to see the white faun. Kaiden opened his mouth to answer, but a loud cry behind them beat him to it. "Come in, come in! She's in a lot of pain!" Was something wrong with the babies, or was that normal? He knew so little. Things were so much simpler when fauns came from acorns!

He turned on his heel to rush back inside, the door still wide open from when he ran out. "Fi! It's going to be okay, I found Twinkle!" Well, more accurately she found him. But he wasn't too keen on details at the moment.

"What do you need from me? I'll help however I can!" This was directed at the fauny.

Twinkleshine placed a reassuring hand on Kaiden's shoulder before her ears flicked towards the room, clearly noticing the rather loud moans within. Yup, it sounded like it was happening, and now. Looking to him and nodding as he spoke, she followed him into the alcove and walked directly to Fi.

"Phiona? It's Twinkleshine. You are going to be okay." She took the pained fauness's hands into her own, not flinching no matter how hard she might have squeezed. Reiterating her question, she made direct eye contact as her second hand lightly rested on her own. "Okay?" After a moment to allow for her response and Kai's own questions, Twinkle looked instead to him. "Bring some water from down below and some rags from the infirmary. Do it quickly, but don't run." She laughed lightly. "We don't need to worry anyone else for now, but make the other healers aware of what's happening, just in case."

After addressing him, she returned her full attention to Fi. "Okay... Phiona dear, how are you feeling?" Her words were calm, almost soothing. "You're doing great; how long ago did this start?"
