Long fingers ran through long, windblown, locks as Accalia walked calmly down one of the streets she knew so well. Her amber gaze was cast downward slightly as she was lost in thought. She could hear the sound of the snow crunching beneath her feet as she walked along and she tucked a stray strand of raven colored hair behind her ear and paused to look in one of the shop windows. It was getting late and most of the shops were closing up, but it still didn't mean she couldn't look through the frosted glass.

She admired the manikins dressed in fine clothes and accessories for a moment and then continued on her way. A small sigh escaped her lips, the foggy breath trickling through the crisp air like in little wisps. She was glad that Christmas break was just around the corner. Though the school year was almost done for her anyway. She was graduating and she couldn't be happier. She was already looking at prospective colleges to continue furthering her education but at the same time she was glad to be getting a break from her studies.

As she continued on her way she felt a chill run down her spine. It made her pause in her tracks for a moment. "What was that?" She thought to herself, wondering why she suddenly felt as if every inch of her being was on high alert. She shook her head, maybe it was just the wind, even though she knew that was a lie. There wasn't a breeze this night. Still, she didn't know what the cause of her unease was and she didn't want to stick around and find out.

"Maybe I should take a shortcut home." She thought as she turned down one of the ally ways. It wasn't as well lit as the main street but it would get her home quicker. She started to regret her decision because the feeling that something wasn't right just grew stronger and she picked up her walk a little bit. Maybe it was just her imagination...

Winter was always so terrifying to the cats of the city. It was cold and unkind; it didn't care about who you were or what you've gone through. It was there and would never leave. It was in this particular season that Brioche found himself even more worried for those around him. Especially the kittens. They were young, naive, and alone most of the time. Even before he gained the same sentience as the humans had he knew that these young ones were his to protect. And once the young ones he had under his care were tucked up nicely in the warmth of a mall's hidden stairwell for the evening to sleep he began his journey out in to the snow.

Now that his mind was clear, that he knew who he was, it was time to care for another. The whole scope of who he cared for had expanded so vastly in so short of a time it hardly seemed to make sense anymore. One fact stood out more than others, however, and that was that he was responsible in protecting this world from the monsters, the youma. Not directly, of course, but through the actions of those he awakened, those whom he turned into senshi. Though he had been 'awake' for such a short period of time, he had already seen how some of the cats in the city awakened the senshi. Young, old, it didn't seem to matter to them. Fearful, wrathful, it didn't seem to matter how the human felt when it came to being powered.

How could the other cats do such things like that?! How could they not give options?! How could they not be more selective of their chosen warriors? They were young and naive, he believed, with far too much brashness. Brioche was an older cat, even in the past he was older, wiser, calm and cool. Atleast he liked to think he was. But there was something so off about the warriors of these days. Fifteen years old was still a child, way too young to be fighting, so he became careful to ensure that he would never awaken someone so small. Even more important than that was the choice to power up or not. It seemed like most cats only awakened of the situation called for it, which was understandable, but with the enemy obviously a threat, how could the warrior even make an educated decision into what they were getting into?

Brioche had his own ways of doing things, and was very careful and meticulous about preparations. And all of that was easily taken care of within a few hours after the sun had set. Now was the time to simply wait.

And wait he did. In the snow he paced back and forth along the alleys, waiting for someone. Who, he didn't know, but someone always ended up coming down this way. And it was far easier to encounter someone with the power he sought in an Alley than it was on the main road. And he was right, many people throughout the evening came by, but no one with that warmth that radiated off them that he had lovingly become familiar with. Not until one young lady made a swift turn and headed towards the dark pathway.

She had it. She had that warmth, that spark, that little glint that just whispered in glee that she was strong. How could he ignore it? He couldn't. From the window ledge he stood on, he jumped down, landing before her and obviously as he could, trying to minimalize the startle that was bound to happen. In a soft, gentle, and most fatherly voice he could muster, he called out to her.

"Excuse me, Miss, do you have a moment?"

The feeling of something being amiss still egged at her but she wasn't seeing anyone following her or anything like that. What was wrong with her this evening? Maybe it was just fatigue with all the studying she had been doing. She shook her head in an attempt to make the feeling go away but was suddenly startled when a furry figure jumped down in front of her. "OH!" She said aloud, holding one of her hands to her chest as the feline startled her. She then let out a small laugh and smiled as she looked down upon the cat. "You scared me little one." She said amused at herself for having been startled by a cat. She crouched down to get a better look at him and perhaps pet him but then he spoke to her...

She was imagining things, she had to be. She looked above and behind her to see if perhaps this was some sort of an illusion and perhaps the cat had a speaker on it's collar but she was well aware there was no collar and they were alone. 'Did this cat just speak to me? It couldn't have... There's no way. Right?' She stared, dumbfounded at the feline as she argued with herself mentally. Was she dreaming? She pinched her arm slightly and when the pain didn't wake her up she realized this wasn't an illusion. She stood up slowly and took a step back, golden eyes wide with uncertainty and cautiousness.

She thought about what it, no he, had said to her. The manners! She had to admit, the cat had manners. Though, how was he talking? "Ummm.." She stared down at him, uncertain of what to do. Maybe she should answer him first? "I.. do have a moment..." She got the words out slowly and looked around again to see if perhaps this was in fact a trick. But it wasn't... "How are you talking to me right now? Forgive me for acting this way, but I'm terribly confused right now." She said being honest with him as she continued to stay where she was, hands tucked against her chest, her fingers tapping against one another nervously.

Brioche sat patiently in the snow while he awaited the young girl to collect her thoughts. It was not unexpected, who wouldn't have been startled by a sudden feline approaching them. He wasn't exactly subtle about his approach, though recently he did try to make his actions a bit more noticeable. The snow muffled his approach far too well this time. For now he sat in the snow, swishing his tail back and forth slowly, thanking the maker for the warm hat that sat upon his head.

He could already tell she was kind, she had already approached him to gently pet his head, though she stopped short. Her reactions so far were much more welcoming than what he had experienced before, mainly no screaming and running away. That was absolutely wonderful, as his ears were already aching from the kittens whining all night, the poor dears. Brioche's mind momentarily wandered back to his darlings sleeping cozily some ways away until the lass spoke to him again. She was responsive, wonderful!

"I apologize for startling you, Miss. My name is Brioche. I can speak because I am, for all intent and purposes, a Guardian of Warriors that extend beyond the scope of Earth." Now that it seemed that he had her full attention, he walked a short distance to stand ontop of a window ledge of a closed shop. Why there was a window facing the alley, he could not explain, but it was very much convenient. And much better than sitting in the snow.

"You must have heard by now the battles that take place in this city.. Of terrorists holding humans captive, taking away their very souls.. I am a teacher of those who wish to fight against such Beings."

She was still in amazement that there was a cat talking to her and she listened as he apologized for starling her. She was still trying to figure out if perhaps she had fallen asleep during her school classes but she had already pinched herself and was more than aware that she was awake. "Thank you for apologizing.. My name is Accalia, it's.... nice to meet you Brioche." She said as she tried to make sense of what he had said. Guardian of warriors that extend beyond the scope of Earth? "Ummm.. Guardian of Warriors? What kind of Warriors?" She asked as she thought of what he could mean. She listened as she continued to speak about battles, terrorists taking captives.. She had heard of kidnappings lately, but she hadn't realized that they were more than that.

"I... I don't understand... Take away their souls?" He helped teach people who wanted to fight those types of awful creatures. What else could she call them if that's what they did? "I have heard of the battles.. Though... I thought they were just kidnappings?" She said crossing her arms across her chest as she watched the feline cautiously. She then thought about something and figured she'd ask. "What does this have to do with me though?"

"Warriors in the most literal sense. Fighters of.. Not evil, but Chaos. There is both Order and Chaos that exist in this universe, perhaps in all Universes. And it's a constant struggle to find a balance between what is chaotic and dangerous and what is ordered and at peace. And such Warriors I teach are the ones that are peacekeepers, ones who are attempting to keep balance in such a world as this." There was such happiness that was brought to Brioche as the girl proved again and again at being very receptive to his statements. He never minded once the amount of explaining he had to do, for it was very important. If this young lady was going to be a warrior.. Well, she needed to know exactly what she was getting into.

"Star seeds. Inside of every human there is a seed which is the condensed form of what makes you, you. You thoughts, your feelings, your experiences and you very livelihood, condensed into a small seed. But these followers of Chaos have the ability to take the very seed that makes you you and turn it into something warped and corrupted. Or even worse, they can consume them to make themselves stronger. And any fight or battle or terrible event that has happened recently here in this city is caused by those Agents of Chaos. It extends far beyond kidnappings. If your seed is taken, you are forever gone from this world." There were, however, instances where lives were able to be restored, but how often that happened was far and few between. Brioche, himself, never truly saw such a situation happen. He couldn't bring himself to actually offer such hope without him having experienced it himself.

Ahh, there she went. Finally asking the important question of what did that have to do with her. With this, he hopped from his station again to stand before her.

"You, miss, have the star seed of a warrior. Though everyone has a starseed, not all are from Earth. Each warrior that exists on this planet has a seed within them that comes from far far away, from different star systems, all over the galaxy. It's an obscure concept.. And from their planet, they are blessed with a power of a singular focus, a reflection of who their people were.. You, miss, can be one of these warriors if you choose to be." In that moment, saying these words, Brioche's tail stood still, and he bowed his head.

"It is a heavy burden, and it is very certain that once you decided to walk this path of Order and war against the Chaos, that your life will never be the same. I am so sorry for handing such a burden to you, but you have every right to know who you are, what you are, and how important you are in this universe." Before him, he summoned a small Pen with a symbol atop it, one of likes he had never seen before. One that was Accalia's alone.

"If you'd like to find out this information, take up this pen and say 'Kiviuq Power Makeup' If you'd rather forgo this path of life.. Please, Miss, step away now.."

Kapoodles
finally found it! XD

As she stood there, listening to this very well mannered feline speak to her she still questioned if this was because of something she ate. Did she have some sort of food poisoning that was causing her to hallucinate. She knew well enough that it wasn't the case but she was still trying to wrap her head around the whole idea that there were talking cats and warriors from different planets and a battle against Order and Chaos. Everything seemed to float around in her mind as she looked at him. At least he was explaining everything in enough detail that she really didn't have to come up with too many questions. So he taught peacekeepers, which would make him Order then? She figured that had to be right. Chaos really wasn't relateable to peacekeeping.

She furled her brow as he said that there was the possibility that a star seed could become corrupted. "Do I even want to know how they are able to do such a thing? Take a star seed and corrupt it or consume it?" She asked rather unnerved about the whole thing. Maybe she didn't want to know after all. The thought kinda scared her a little. How does one know if they have a star seed that's good. Surely not everyone was on the side of Order. Were some people just created evil?

She was dragged from her thoughts once more when he said that she was a warrior, or at least had a seed of one. If she had a seed, then why did she have a choice. "Why wouldn't someone want to become what they were created to be?" She asked him curiously. If she was created to be a warrior, why wouldn't she want to follow that path? Her mind swarmed with thoughts. Were her parents her real parents then? How could she have one of these seeds if she was from earth then? This was a lot to take in. "How did I get this seed?" She asked him almost dreading what he might say.

She was well aware that this was a heavy burden, but all the news he was laying on her was pretty heavy stuff too. She wondered how any reasonable adult would be able to handle such news, let alone a child. Where their child warriors too? Why would someone so young be thrust into such things? She wondered if they had a choice in the matter. She hoped they did. Kids shouldn't have to handle that kind of responsibility. She wasn't exactly an adult herself, but she was close enough in her mind. She stared as a small pen with a unique symbol upon it appeared and she stared down at it gingerly and swallowed. She reached out her hand and grasped it in her slender fingers and looked down at him and then back at the pen. 'here goes nothing.' "Kiviuq Power Makeup!" She wondered, as she spoke the words, what Kiviuq was.

"It is the Chaos that surrounds their own souls that allow for such horrid things. Though even tainted they are, they, too, can be saved, if they are willing to accept change." Brioche had never seen a purification before, he knew it could be done. A soul could never be tainted forever. At least that's what he felt.

"Fear. Fear will keep a warrior from fighting. And fear never leaves, it always lingers int he back of the mind, but then there are those who do not try to avoid it, but face it head on. And you, my dear, are one of those who will fight of your own volition, not because you have no other choice. And the seed that powers you comes from a place far away... "

Glee filled Brioche from the tip his tail to the edges of his ears as he saw Kivuq awaken before him. This was his work. This was now his ward to protect and to teach. And he both was proud and was horrified. What sort of dangers did he just signed this poor child up for.. Even so... She seemed to understand what was going on, even if just a scratch on the surface.

"You are Kiviuq.. You are a Senshi of the Artic.. Though cold your powers may be, you are to be a fire yourself. To protect those who cannot fathom what monstrosities that approach them. A defender of those who walk in the light and a warrior whose allies, though they know you not at this time, will depend on you time and time again, of this I am certain." His paws dug into the snow and he tilted his head down, kneeling in the best way that he could.

"I deeply apologize for this burden I've placed on you. I am proud of you for choosing this path, and I want you to know that I am here to help, to teach. And to ensure that this path, though dark it may seem, will not be unknown to you in it's entirety. If you have any questions, please, ask. I am here."

The best way to describe what was happening to her was to say that the whole entire thing was like something from a dream, or a Syfy film. The outfit she was wearing was no longer on her and she was now wearing a peculiar outfit of white fur and leather. She felt different in a way, but it wasn't a bad sensation, it was just strange. Everything about what she had just looked like had changed and here she stood, almost unrecognizable to herself as she looked at the pale outline of her reflection in one of the nearby windows.

She listened as he apologized and she shook her head. "Do not apologize. I am thankful for you to helping me through this." She said looking at him with soft eyes. She suddenly felt aware of so much, but it was a different sort of aware. "Now what?" She asked him.

Brioche wanted to be kind, to simply say that it would be sufficient enough for them to go out into the cold for a little while and figure out what exactly her powers entailed. Did she have an ice beam, or was she able to control what was around them. Honestly if her powers were to summon up a frigid storm, then maybe they wouldn't have even been able to test it out, given how cold it was outside already.

But then it came. A quivering in the back of the old cat's mind. A throbbing? No, maybe a whistle? Perhaps a deep crooning.. Either way, it pricked and prodded at his mind, his heart, his very own star seed, causing every hair on his body to bristle and stand on end.

"Kiviuq... Do you feel that? Can.. Can you sense that calling? Maybe not, you weren't there for it, you weren't here, you weren't ready... But now you are.. You have to be.. Kiviuq, we have to go... But you are young, you are fresh and new, maybe you aren't ready." Brioche was no longer giving Kiviuq the attention he had so readily done so earlier. He could feel that calling, the call to arms, the call that was meant to launch the attack on the Negaverse. His eyes looked passed her, contimplating the direction from where the signal came. Did he want to go? He had to go. Did he want his new Senshi to come with him? Could he protect her? She'd have to learn eventually, right? But this could be too much.. But this could also be the end.

Over and over again he argued within himself, trying to make sure be made the right choice. He paced back and forth before her, before suddenly stopping. His kind, tired eyes finally rested on her, having come to a conclusion.

"We must away, Kiviuq. There is a war starting... We must fight. We must lend a hand. Attack, defense, doesn't matter, we must go. We must help."

She did. She felt it almost as surely as he did. The sensation crawled across her skin like an icy chill and she looked over at him. She felt the urge to go, go wherever it was resonating from and she gave him a firm look and a sure nod of her head. "Yes. I will do whatever is needed of me." She said strongly, as though she knew what she was doing, despite the fact she knew nothing at all. "I will go wherever it is we must now go." Even if she was scared. She could do this, she had to do this. There was no turning back.

As soon as his new senshi said yes, Brioche bolted towards the door, urging her to open it, before sprinting as fast as he could. He knew where they were, he could feel it. There was no time for any further questions. Just actions. Just a potential last stand. He would stick by Kiviuq's side through it all, but he would not simply stand by to do nothing.

It was time the Negaverse learned it's lesson.
