Sundays were almost always swim days for Briar and this Sunday was no different, with the red-haired teen spending the morning in the pool.
The pool had been quiet with hardly anyone about, which had been fine by Briar's book as it meant that he had had the space mostly to himself. Eventually the free swim period had come to an end and so Briar had ended up heading for the showers and calling it a day.
It was early afternoon - well make that barely past lunchtime - so Briar had been reluctant to head towards home and so he had headed towards the little bakery close to the leisure centre with the intention of picking up some cookies only to find that the bakery was unexpectedly closed for the day.
Somehow he had found himself heading towards the park, feet dragging a little in disappointment since he'd been really wanting to pick up a cookie or perhaps two and whilst he guess he could have gone home, Briar didn't particular feel like doing so.
The park had been pretty empty and Briar had found himself meandering sort of towards the children's playground when he heard the sound.
Low and mean sounding and there was the sound of what sounded like snapping twigs, although it was heading away from rather than towards him.
He looked around, the sound totally something for a superhero to look into but the park was kind of open.
The dumpster area provided him with enough cover to go into superhero mode and then it was Oort that was heading in the direction of where he thought the 'growly' sound was coming from, sandalled feet hitting the ground with a few snapped twigs of their own.

It was, perhaps, a nicer day than most for the season, and Daniel had gone to the park to escape his brother's "pleasant" conversation (or rather, his incessant bullying to outlet his frustrations at Daniel for telling their parents just whom had brought cigarettes inside the house) and thus he found himself walking the park, looking for a game to join before pausing.
There was low growling in the vicinity, low and rough, and the boy looked about before hiding in some thick bushes.
An utterance and use of pen led to Super Sailor Massalia creeping from hiding to move for the noise, eyes narrowed as he moved.
Whatever hid there, he wanted to hunt and stop, before or in case it hurt someone, and the boy was moving when an Order aura hit his senses, and he paused to blink, looking around.
The growly sound had been getting closer - well at least Oort was pretty certain that it was getting closer - and so Oort had been thinking about perhaps trying to hunt around for a stick or something...
Because the growly sound could be a monster and in his experience sticks worked on the monsters - well at least they worked a lot better than his magic did.
He hesitated, his feet slowing down for a moment as it occurred to him that if he stopped to look for a stick then the growly sound might start to get further away from him again and it was in that moment that he heard the voice.
He paused, slowing to a complete stop, his reddish eyes slightly wary as he looked to the side towards where he thought the voice may have come from "'Lo?" He took a couple of slow footsteps forward. "Hello who's there?"

No problem, holidays are busy for everyone!
Massalia looked toward the voice carefully, the young Super Senshi chewing his lip before moving towards the voice cautiously, brown eyes alert.
"My name is Sailor Massalia. Who are you?" The chibi asked warily, voice cracking, mostly from age than fear, and he wondered how long it would continue, pausing again to listen for the growl.
The source of the voice that he'd heard from before turned out to be another boy and Oort watched as he slowly walked over towards him.
"I'm Chibi Sailor..." he started in answer to the other's question, but then his voice trailed off and he ended up staring as Massalia's follow up question sunk in.
"No I'm not the monster" his voice was slightly huffy, although it wasn't something that he'd admit to if called on it. "I'm looking for it."
The monster chose that moment to growl again, the sound followed by a crashing noise that sounded awfully close and Oort turned round, reddish eyes distracted "I think it might be further up" he said as he started walking, wishing more than ever that he had a stick, before pausing and half turning for a moment "Are you looking for it too?"

Massalia nodded, calming before hearing the growl, and the boy looked up, frowning.
"I started to when I heard it." The boy admitted, and began moving after Oort rapidly. "Perhaps we should team up to beat it before it hurts somebody."
Like Bailey, wherever she was! Or another girl, or he supposed even some of the boys.
Oort had only managed to take a few steps, but at the other boy's words he paused and turned round again for a few moments.
"Okay" he gave a short decisive nod before turning back round and walking again, because two super heroes would definitely be better than one against any potential monster "Thanks."
He pressed forward, although not as quickly as he had been before because he didn't want the other boy to think that he was trying to ditch or something, the crashing sound seeming to get ever closer and then he rounded a tree and came across the source of the noise.
It looked like a pig - no make that a boar - with sharp-looking tusks and narrow red-looking glaring eyes.
And there was a row of spiky looking-things running down its back...
And it seemed like it was the most likely source of the monster since it was howling and Oort was pretty sure that boars were not supposed to make howling sounds.

Massalia followed Oort quickly, the boy far too glad Oort was fwith him as he did and paused, seeing the boar-youma, and stopped at the howling before frowning at it, huffing.
"Burro. He spat at the youma, and looked to Oort." We can fight him. Easily. What does your magic do?"
Oort wasn't sure what a burro was but if it was anything like the boar-monster then he was sure that it wasn't particularly good.
Because whilst it wasn't the biggest monster he'd come across - because that was kind of reserved for either the monster at the concert-thing that his brother had dragged taken him to or the monster that had had all the stuffing on the hooded girl's world - it was still ugly.
Oort stared at the boar-monster before looking over at the other boy and nodding because the two of them could totally take it... Even though he still wished that he had a stick.
He didn't though which meant that he would just have to come up with something else.
"My magic can make things stronger" he said, because it had made Horatio stronger that one time. "Although it doesn't always" because there were times when it hadn't. "Sometimes it makes things faster - least it does for a bit. Yours?"
Maybe the other boy would have something more useful that wasn't just the little key thing he had, maybe even something like.. Like Horatio's star-laser or something because that would be super useful.
Either way he guessed if they were going to use magic then they were probably going to have to do it quickly because the boar probably wasn't going to keep howling. Reddish eyes glanced around to see if he could see something that would be as good as a stick whilst he waited to hear what the other boy's magic was.

"Oh, mine?" Massalia blinked before looking shy very briefly.
"It looks like it might confuse people." The chibi coughed, a bit embarressed. He didn't use magic often enough to consider it, but if magic was in play, he might as well be honest about it's uses. At least, what he assumed they seemed, since he didn't like using his magic much.
"Maybe we can out smart it with those?" The senshi offered. He really wished his dog was there - the puppy always seemed to be helpful and loving and protective, but a patrol wasn't planned, and as a civilian his dog didn't exactly have the right to enter buildings, so he hadn't brought the creature, at all.
"Maybe" he agreed at last with a nod. "Do you think you can use your magic on it p'raps?" he continued as he finally noticed a few stones. "Because if it's confused then maybe it will do something stupid."
He started to walk over towards the stones because whilst they weren't a stick they were still better than nothing. "I can try distracting..."
His voice trailed off at the sound of a cracking sound, the sound sounding almost abnormally loud in his ears as he noticed the twig that he had stepped on too late to do anything about it.
Narrow red eyes swung to look at him malevolently as the howl cut off in a snort.
It looked like their time was up.

No worries, got me, too. XD
"Well, they might talk, you never know." Massalia shrugged, but didn't press, instead nodding, grumbling at the growl.
"I can do that, cover your ears!" Massalia warned. He didn't often use magic, being an active child, but he immediately shifted, and took a deep breath before unleashing a howl resembling that of a coyote, long and loud and strong before a spectral figure seemed to appear near, yet at some distance, and returned the call, at which point Massalia eyed the monster, growling.
Ye old writing hurts. XD
Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Call of the Trickster A Souped up version of Coyote Cry, this attack doesn't need objects to bounce off of. It instead will create an illusion of a second Coyote when Massalia howls, and after his howl echos, the illusion will howl back, like a second coyote joining another. This attack disorients enemies and nearby allies for 30 seconds, and may make weaker willed folks a little nervous.
For a moment Oort had contemplated trying to make a dash across the remaining distance to the stones, however at Massalia's he gave a short nod as he kept his reddish eyes on the monster and jammed his fingers into his ears to the point where he fancied he could hear a faint ringing.
Massalia hadn't told him how long to keep them covered for and so Oort continued to keep them jammed in until the monster suddenly turned away from him in favour of looking towards 'something' on its right and howling at it as it pawed a challenge.
Oort figured that it was his chance, although he paused for a moment and turned towards Massalia - who was staring at the monster and making sounds that kind of sounded like a growl at it - as he called out "Key Up!"
Loping back towards the other senshi, Oort stood in front of him and turned the small key that had formed as if turning it in a lock.
"My magic" he said by way of explanation because fair was fair and then he headed back towards the stones at a dash because he wanted to get to them before the monster stopped being all confused and stuff.

Hope I've got the magic effects correct, but lmk if I need to change anything. I've also stuck Oort's magic in the spoiler tag for quick reference

[Nb. I tend to let the play choose which boost they get (speed or strength)]
Key Up! Oort calls on his magic while chanting the name of this attack and the magic forms into a small ethereal-looking ornate key. By standing in front of an ally and turning the key as if in an invisible lock Oort can use this this to give an ally either a strength boost or a speed boost (one or the other and he doesn't get to choose which) of about 15%. Alternatively Oort can use it on himself, but he will only get the speed boost. Duration: Oort has 15 seconds to use the 'key' otherwise the key will disappear. The boost will last for 10 seconds once Oort has used the 'key'

Yup! It just disorients/confuses, hence the warning. Can affect allies too if not careful.
Chibi Massalia watched, then nodded to Oort when he used his attack- was it an attack? He wasn't sure, and the chibi bolted around and at the monster, charging before he swept out with a kick, hoping to at least keep it's attention off Oort. He'd see what they had, surely. But Massalia... Well, he could physically fight, right? That was possible if he recalled.
It was hard to tell whether his magic had done the make stronger thing as it had once done for Horatio or the make faster thing as it seemed to do on the few occasions when Oort had tried using it on himself.
Although to be fair it wasn't as if he had really tried to check.
He could hear another howl from the direction of the monster as he reached the stones and after quickly scooping a few up he turned around towards the thing, noticing that Massalia was already over it.
He lobbed one of his stones at it in an attempt to take the things attention away from the other boy and whilst the stone didn't do much - just hit it in the side - it was enough to have it turning back his way with a snarl.
He had tossed a second stone after the first, the hit turning to be a lucky one, the youma once again howling as it scored a direct hit on its eye.
