User ImageAnything you can slither away from makes you stronger, he lived and learned. That harpy was lucky to escape, same with the little scraps. This time he'd just have to try a different tactic.

Once again the teen boldly ventured from the safety of his clan and the tainted forest to hunt. Sticking more to the underbrush, the teen decided to try for stealth this time. The movement was by no means silent, but he did stay low. By coincidence, his darker coloration did serve as a bonus here as it had in the forest of his clan.

Eyes always up, the young naga kept a look out for any nests. While he could take on an adult without a problem, the little scraps were sure to be extra tasty. Passing up an easier meal was just crazy. No matter what his sisters might say, he was not crazy.

Their flock seemed to always have something to do. The great honor of protecting Lady Venus was naturally theirs. Little cherubs proved themselves just as bad of guards as she'd always figured them to be, bless their hearts. This day, however, there was the chance to spend some time away from everything with just her sister and the trees. It was a shame their beloved Mayu was not with them, what a splendid vision they would be.

All was well, she had her dearest Caoimhe with her, looking as resplendent as ever. It was a good day to spend together, perhaps they would find a tragic second chick in need of assistance. Or a very misguided pae needing their help. Denying the isle of them was surely a crime. All the vinegar and soot about was proof of that. Concerned more with her perch and fellow harpy, she did not pay a feather of attention to the forest below.

User ImageCaoimhe had most certainly been keeping herself busy, between attempting to coerce a certain stubborn member of Venus' family to help with a gravely important matter, and all of her other duties that came with being a part of the most beautiful flock that would ever exist. She'd preened herself spectacularly that morning, and was now enjoying a moment of her dearest sister's company. A spare thought crossed her mind, missing their dear Mayu, yet was quickly gone. Perhaps the next outing it would be the three of them giving the island one of it's greatest gifts. Themselves.

"My Dearest Lillibeth, what are you doing with your hair? It's simply marvelous~" She cooed, admiring her sisters hair. It was utterly splendid. The shine and shimmer, it looked so silky soft and everything. She had hardly been paying any attention to the ground below, her eyes entirely on Lillibeth. As one of the best harpies on the island, they both deserved no less than the full attention of the other. A thought couldn't be spared for slithering things on the ground. Caoimhe paused her train of thought for a moment, tilting her head to the side in a quirk of curiosity. It must be nothing. No one would disturb them without great need. "I believe a little bauble has shown up looking for us." She smiled, very happily using Lillibeth's terms for the lesser beings.

Practically cooing, she proudly responded, "Oh you noticed, beloved, I've been trying something new at the spa. It is simply divine!" One deceptively delicate hand went up to pat the side of her head. It was a must to make sure all her hair stayed in place through the flight there. It was a challenge only they could hope to beat.

With a trilled gasp she added, "Oh Caoimhe, the sun must be magical here, the way it highlights your extraordinary wings. The island itself is showing you favor!" There was no shortage of amazement to be found when it came to themselves. Nothing could detract form how lovely they were. The flock together could stand up to Venus herself! That was probably why the Lady kept their dear Mayu so busy.

Upon her sister's statement, she looked down and finally saw the movement. The bauble below became clearer, and she quickly placed her hand over her poor heart. "Bless his soul, Caoimhe have you ever seen such a brave creature? To go out in the sunlight like that, such courage!" To be that hideous and actually get out of the hole it lived in? The creature should have a medal!

The two noisy chickens had noticed him so there was no need for stealth. What was more, one of them was clearly impressed with him. If they weren't harpies, he might have even been willing to spare their lives. As it stands, there was no hope for him.

Drawing himself up to a height he was comfortable holding his body up, the teen puffed out his chest in pride. "I am the bravest Naga there is, next to Momma." Always as no one could compare to how amazing his mother was.

Beaming he ran his hand through his amazing hair allowing his majesty to be fully admired. Finally he opened his eyes up and informed them, "Don't be sad, your feathers will make such lovely trophies." Just as soon as he plucked them of course.

Caoimhe smiled, reaching up to pat her own hair. Lillibeth wasn't the only one concerned with keeping her hair in place during flight. "You simply must show me when we return. It's doing wondrous things for your already lovely locks~" She nodded. It was a done deal.

And her attention was back on the poppet that had shown up below. "Oh goodness, this is one of the bravest creatures ever. To go out appear before us in such dire need of help. No wonder he's out here. Even this 'Momma' couldn't help him." Of course Caoimhe knew of this creature. Maybe not this one in particular, but most certainly his kind. They had all proven themselves to be such ugly beasties. Caoimhe had to restrain herself from laughing as he attempted to show off his hair. Oh Venus help them, this child was amusing. Perhaps he'd be an interesting plaything.

"Oh dear, even our best feathers wouldn't help you any. I'm sorry to give you such bad news."

Oh that was a charming idea, "We know who has the brains of the family! A spa day is a must! You are brilliant, darling!" It was a wonder she hadn't thought of that before herself. Just showed that Caoimhe had beauty and brains to spare! Speaking of sparing, the brave little noodle was awfully sure of himself.

With a chuckle in her own voice she remarked, "Clearly, sister, for they have the same face. I am sure his mother finds it charming, the poor dear." They were both just as ugly, surely his mother loved him if only for vanity sake. Did the naga even know how to love? This one looked like the one that took on that dusty old song bird Shak something or another.

Touching her sister's shoulder she added, "Now, we are the very picture of charity. There is no task we can't complete together." Though this one, this one was a champion sized challenge. Even so, they were both generous to a fault surely there was something they could do. Feathers were a half decent idea but there was no way she was going to make it that easy on the little worm.

Glaring at the both of them he started to hiss when they mentioned his momma. Fangs out he let out such a mighty sound it was sure to scare the stuffing out of both the birds. "My Momma is the greatest being to ever exist!" She was better then Venus, better then Eris and certainly better then these creatures.

Oh how proud she'd be when he brought home not one but two harpies for her! Just the thought of proving himself the favorite intensified the tainted aura. Now he just had to get to them. Climbing the tree would be impossible, nothing was for him.

"Oh you are too kind Sister Dear!" She smiled, gently fanning her most lovely of sisters from the compliment. "I only suggested what we were both thinking~" And that was settled. Lillibeth was the sweetest, only in competition with their dearest Mayu.

Caoimhe smirked a little, sparing a glance down to the noodle creature below them. "Ah, he believes her to be amazing." She clicked her tongue a little, unable to believe such a creature could believe themselves to compare to the most glorious Venus. "You are right my dearest Lillibeth, perhaps with a good deal of tough love and some elbow grease, we can completely alter his appearance." Now that would be among their most charitable acts. "And he could bare to show off to this 'Momma' exactly how beautiful they could be." Of course Lillibeth had the best of ideas. "I was too quick to write this bauble off. This could be one of our masterpieces~" She cooed, grinning at the snek below.

Looking down at the naga below how one might look upon a particularly slow animal, Lillibeth cooed and made a head patting motion with her hand. "How sweet it is, such devotion to his mother. The wonders never cease in this world!" How anyone could love that overgrown worm was the greatest mystery of them all. They just had to do something now! Oh what fun it would be to work with her beloved sister in this monumental task.

With a giggle she told Caoimhe, "This will be our greatest challenge ever. I couldn't dream of doing it without you! Wherever should we start? Its so hard to tell the front end from the back." Placing one hand on her cheek and the other other on her elbow the harpy pondered the great task before them.

For his part, Takshaka had started to tune them out. They were loud and chatty dinner entries and it was irritating his poor ears. Hissing at them he barred his fangs at them once more before attempting to climb the tree. That consisted of constricting the object while he tried to move upward. The heft of his own body made moving up trouble. One hand reached for a branch and promptly broke it trying to pull himself up. This evoked Eris' name in curses.

The sisters danced circles around the frustrated male making jokes about him. Most of those jokes flew over his head along with them. It didn't take long for the girls to lose interest in the boy. Both left behind tail feathers, the only thing they could do to hid the ugly was to offer something so beautiful that even he couldn't sully it.

[Four tail feathers gained, two form each]
