Sadie stood pacing up and down in the room. Her long peach dress fit her blonde hair and fair features. Although her expression was anything but fair. "Where are they? They should have been here an hour ago... did he back out? Did his father did not like our dowery?" She asked and her sister looked up from her book on the couch.
The younger sister Fayth smiled at her sister, "Sadie calm down. They will be here. Father said they lived far from here. You can't expect him to get here so quickly." She said and laid the book on her dark blue dress. While her sister was in light colors she was in dark colors. Their mother thought it fit even though their personalities said differently. There was a knock on the door and Fayth sigh and stood up with her sister to meet the man that would soon marry Sadie.

The servant opened the door first and stood aside, as a man stepped into the room with an uneasy expression. He obviously wasn't the one who came up with the idea of marriage, and hadn't really come to terms with it, but he was here to meet his bride to be. And apparently her. . . sister. His mismatched eyes fell on Fayth first and he took a soft breath before he turned to Sadie and bowed at the waist, "My lady, it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person. My name is Malcolm." He said and walked over to give Sadie's hand a kiss.
Just to be respectful, he turned and did the same to Fayth's hand. Though just holding her hand alone, he felt how soft her hands were compared to her sister's " And what may I call the fairest ladies within the kingdom?" He asked with a smile.

Both women had blushed when he kissed their hands and Sadie seemed to be more ecstatic as Malcolm kept talking. Sadie smiled and took a step forward giving a curtsy, "My name is Sadie and this is my sister Fayth." She said and Fayth did her own curtsy. Before Fayth could give him any welcome Sadie had taken him by the arm, "Let me show you the gardens and we may talk in private to get to know each other better." She said sweeping him out of the room.
Fayth watched them leave and blushed again when she caught sight of his eyes. So strange he was but, he was her sisters now. Going back to the couch she lowered herself down and began to read her book again. Sadie took him to their garden and showed him all of the roses. While she said she did it herself it was really Fayth that had the green thumb.

Malcolm was taken by surprise when he was dragged out, and had wanted to excuse himself from Fayth's company, but it seemed like Sadie was much faster than he had thought. He listened to her speak and looked over all the plants before giving his best smile, "These plants are very lovely, My lady. Especially those red roses. I've never seen so many of them in bloom like that." He said before walking with her back towards the castle, "My mother owns a similar garden, but she kept it small so she could grow the plants very close together. She liked to call it her flower barrier."
Malcolm chuckled at the thought but he cleared his throat and looked down to her, "Tell me more about you, though. Do you have any particular hobbies or perhaps a favorite past time in your home?" He asked and laced his hands with his. Might as well try and be as comfortable as possible, he thought to himself.

Sadie smiled hearing about his home and his mother. Things were already going good. As they walked back Sadie held his hand and his arm and smiled, "I can cook, I love to read and go horseback riding and I love to bake all kinds of deserts." She said knowing that the only truth she had told was the horseback riding. Sadie was not a nice girl or very interesting but she was beautiful. If she could marry him then it didn't matter later down the line what she was like. "What about you? What are you hobbies?"
Fayth had grown tired when the couple was outside. Her book had lulled her to sleep. Sitting on the couch the book was in her lap and her head was against her right shoulder as she breathed softly and peacefully. Some of her black hair fell in front of her eyes as she slept.

"I love painting myself. and playing the violin, to be honest. I know it's not the most manliest thing in the world, but I find music to be a very. . . .freeing thing." He said as they continued to walk together, "I would love to play for you sometime, if you would consider baking me one of your desserts." He said with a grin and reached over to tuck Sadie's hair behind her ear.
He could tell she was trying hard to impress him. When he had entered the room, she was far away from the books while her sister was the one on the couch with what seemed like one of the older books in her hands. Malcolm didn't want to bother calling Sadie on her fibs, so he just played along thinking she was just nervous during their first meeting.

Sadie blushed at him and smiled, "Of course. I would love to bake any of your favorites." She said, "And I think playing the violin is amazing." She said and they walked back into the house. Fayth woke up rubbing her eyes sitting up straighter. Sadie was about to say something to her sister when her mother came in. "I'm truly sorry but there is an issue I need Sadie for. Please... my youngest will keep you company." She said and pulled Sadie out.
Fayth blinked a bit shock and looked up at him, "Hello there, My name is Fayth. Nice to meet you." She said putting her bookmark in the book and closing it. She knew it was rude to have a book open when people were going to talk to you. Fayth couldn't stop looking into his eyes and she had to keep reminding herself that this was Sadie's husband to be.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Fayth." He said with a warm smile and blushed realizing she was staring at him. He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck, "it's a genetic thing, my eyes. My grandfather had it and it passed down to me instead of my father." He said before taking a seat beside the girl, "As you can imagine, I don't notice it but it's kind of funny seeing people's reaction to it. Though no one has ever stared as long as you have, my lady." He teased as his smile became wider.
Malcolm took the moment to look down at the book she had before taking it into his own hands, "ooh. This story. I've heard my own sister read it a few times. It's pretty interesting, and she always cries over the dragon. What about you, lady Fayth?" He asked and opened it up to see where she was in the story.

Fayth blushed when he had caught her looking at his eyes. She pushed some of her hair behind her ears looking down feeling very embarrassed about staring so long that it was a first for him. She was about to apologize when he mentioned the book she was reading. Smiling she got excited, "I cry as well. The dragon only wants to find love and is so misunderstood." She says.
"This is a very good story but my favorite story is about a western man who is on a mission to find his son. It shows the pure love between a parent and a child and I believe that its the greatest love." She said feeling a little bit sad but not showing it on her face. Sadie walked back in and smiled, "I'm back. I'm so sorry Malcolm, has my sister been boring?"

"quite the opposite, actually." Malcolm said with a smile and gently handed the book back to Fayth, "She was just telling me about the books she reads as well. Some of her favorites even. Do you have a favorite story among the library or do you have an equal love for all?" He asked Sadie and stood from his place on the couch to take her hand into his.
In truth, he wanted to ask Fayth about the story a little more, but he didn't want to come off as rude if his fiance wanted to talk about something else, or wanted to show him more around their home.

Sadie's smile falters for a half a second before she takes his hand and brightens again. "Oh I love all the books but my favorite has to be 'Nights Beauty'." She says her sister putting the book up to her face so she could roll her eyes without anyone knowing, "Its about a prince who goes to rescue his princess but finds her dead before he can save her. A very sad story indeed but the writing it so exquisite." She said.
Sadie looked up at him and bit her lip. She was about to say something when the clock chimed to signal their first meeting was over. "Oh boo..." She said softly looking at Malcolm, "I wish we could have more time together..."

Malcolm simply smiled but he brought her hand up to kiss her knuckles, "perhaps we may talk about sooner than you think." he said, but released her hand to walk over and kneel in front of Fayth, "My lady Fayth." He called to her behind her book before taking one of her hands to kiss her fingers, "I hope we may talk as well. You can tell me more about your favorite story." He said then stood to head for the door.
He stopped when he got to the hall and bowed at the waist once more to bid the ladies goodbye, then walked away to find their parents. He had a drastic decision to make, and wanted to announce it before any kind of preparation was done, "Sir? Ma'am?" He called as he entered one of the studies.

Sadie blinked a bit at his comment and frowned when he said goodbye to Fayth. Fayth on the other hand and put her book down gently and smiled at him, "Of course. Goodbye Sir Malcolm." She said and when he left Sadie sat down next to her, "Did you really only talk about books?" And Fayth nodded, "I promise sister. That is it." She said going back to her reading.
The girls mother and father sat with his own father in the study. They all looked up from their conversation when he walked inside. Their father looked over, "How was Sadie? My beautiful daughter is full of energy is she not? A perfect fit." He said clapping his hands happily.

"Yes, a perfect fit, but I believe with someone else." Malcolm said and braced himself, knowing that he was about to disappoint not only his own father but Sadie and Fayth's parents as well, "Sadie is . . .charming and very sophisticated but. . .bu Fayth is sweet and she seems to have a wonderful personality that she wants to keep hidden." He began to explain before clearing his throat.
"What I am trying to say is that I wish to marry Fayh instead of Sadie. I felt better speaking with her than I did with your eldest daughter." He said but held his hands together to prepare himself for the backlash he was expecting.
