It wasn't stacking up to be a very good night to be out and about, Larque began to realize, eyes flicking up toward the sky as he wove his way through the city. Across Alternia, as it did every year, things had started to get colder...gloomier. As the seasons shifted, winter brought harsher weather to the coast as well. Wild winds lashed against the sea, occasionally kicking up storms that would send the waves crashing angrily to shore, while the rain poured down in sheets. Though the skies above Civisect weren't that dark, there was still a cutting breeze blowing through, and the looming possibility of showers.
Memories of last year's snowy winter drifted through Larque's mind, as he pulled his hood up and hurried his feet. The weather wasn't usually something to keep him holed up, so off he'd gone, having it in his mind to hit the pier before doing a bit of 'shopping' afterwards. It was time to reseal the doors to his hive, something he did each year to keep the damp out, and he would need fresh supplies to do so again. Supplies required beetles, and he had a fine source of that, no more than an hour's walk from his hive.
The pier sparkled beneath the grey skies, a beacon of depravity in Larque's eyes. It was just as bustling as ever despite the cold, filled with visitors who had pockets and bags stuffed with beetles to spend on junk food and baubles. He wasn't there for more than ten minutes before he'd managed to nick a wallet here, and a handbag there. Each object was slipped carefully into the pockets on the inside of his coat, soon to be emptied and discarded. Keeping his wits sharp, he allowed himself to be carried along the current of the crowds, liberating whatever he could from whoever wasn't paying enough attention to their surroundings...

While the weather was dismal and bleak, Elidae enjoyed herself relaxing on the pier, gazing up at the overcast when leaning on the railing. Clipped to her hip was a large pair of "scissors", comparable to lengthy daggers. A trip to Civisect meant all her blades were shiny and sharp by her most trusted swordsmith, including the ones hiding neatly in the pouch positioned on her thigh. Of course, most of those were used for her profession, but in terms of sticky situations, they would do perfectly.
"Guess I better get going, or I'll miss the train." She murmured to herself, turning to take her leave. Something caught her eye and by complete and utter happenstance, a theft could be seen in Elidae's direct line of vision. She blinked, questioning if perhaps her eyes were deceiving her. Yet a burning curiosity snagged her in, begging her to follow. So she did. The time spent trailing behind from a distance wasn't long, she brushed past a few trolls to try and get a closer look, squinting in hopes she was wrong. Something... something just didn't sit right. And it seemed to have happened again.
Pickpocketing!? It's a thief! What to do?! Her whole being instantly tensed, uncertainty plaguing her mind. She looked around, taking a big inhale. Should she do something? Should ahe stop them? The area was clearly filled with highblooded trolls; how dare they? Wouldn't that be much more of a risk? What if they got caught? Well, he technically did by her, but maybe they were just... making a bad decision! She had to stop them!
"H-Hey...! Uh, hey you!" Elidae tried. A frustrated whimper escaped her lips, air puffing from her nostrils. Did they not hear her or were they ignoring her? Quickening her pace, she bounded between trolls to get to them. Of course, not being the most nimble, she bumped into some and received nasty glares, multiple apologies spewed urgently from her as she went. Need to be more assertive, Bonbon! "Hey! E-Excuse me!" She called much louder, coming up close to the hooded stranger. No dice. This time, she slipped rather clumsily around a few trolls, before leaping out right in front of him, extending her arm out and forcefully shoving her palm against his shoulder.
"I saw what you-" Caught on her tongue were unfinished words; Elidae had started. Suddenly, her bilesack dropped. With the corners of her lips tugged up by force in what vaguely resembled a smile, the yellowblood tried to her best to appear cordial enough. She cleared her throat, snapping her arm back to her side. "Y-You...You should give it back!" She tried to suggest, but her voice trembled with fear.

Larque was too far away and too focused on other things to hear Elidae's first couple attempts to grab his attention. The pier was a naturally noisy place, and even though he did his best to keep his wits about himself, her weak cries did little to set themselves apart from everyone else. He'd been in the process of honing in on a new target when she decided to step forward and act the hero, and he almost thought she'd stumbled until she was trying to shove him back. His hand darted up reflexively to slap hers away, and at her helpful suggestion, Larque fixed her with a venomous stare.
"You should mind your own business, lowblood." Larque's tone was low and cautioning, and he bristled in agitation at her bravado. What was this one's game? His eyes darted about for a moment, and he wondered if she'd been sent by someone else. Highbloods loved to let others do their dirty work for them, but even if she had seen him in action, she couldn't prove anything. All he had left were the beetles - any identifiable articles were ditched within moments of his thefts after being emptied of loot.
Without a second thought, Larque sneered, and began to walk around her, uninterested in exchanging any further words.

A small whimper escaped Elidae's lips at the stranger's, a moment of guilt and fear overwhelming her as she withdrew back a step. It was quickly ignored for the time being and she remained diligently firm with her intentions, trying her best to still appear serious. His response foolishly surprised the naive yellowblood.
"Wh-what?" Lowblood? Lowblood?! Staggering as he moved past, Elidae blinked in a furious frenzy, her whole body tensing and burning hot with anger. She heaved uneven breaths through her nose, her lips slowly pulling into a manic, tight-lipped grin. Head whipping around, she seethed after his retreating form. Did he just snub her off? Really? Rude! What a jerk! Her fingers twitched hesitantly near her scissors. After a final sharp intake of breath... she deflated.
Maybe... he was right. She was indeed a lowblood. But not far from his own shade of green, she thought bitterly. But it really wasn't her business. Maybe her eyes deceived. Maybe she could convince herself of that. Rolling them with a sigh, she turned her cheek to accept failure, only to overhear a panicked higblood Civisect citizen. Her direction swiveled, listening in on the conversation. A missing wallet?
Nope. It was back on. Since when did Elidae Bonbon simply give up? She would have chastised herself if she didn't have a mission at hand. This mystery thief can call her a lowblood all he wanted, but if it concerned those higher than the both of them, then it was her business to set things straight.
"Well, too bad because I am not letting you get away!!" Running after Larque with full force, she slammed into the back of the him. Maybe that'll get his full attention!
