In t-shirt, flannel, and jeans, Creedence definitely made the other girl look even softer and possibly more dressed up simply by standing next to her. Hefting a gym bag over her shoulder, she attempted to give Melody a confident and nonchalant look that almost succeeded.

"Hey," Creedence nodded casually. As they walked to the portal, she explained the place she picked, "It's like, Lez Hots Issac's Sack, or something. It's a bit castle-y but not like," making a face she gestured to the dorms.

"It's cool, near stuff, and not too expensive."

Taking the other girl's hand in manner surprisingly without awkward commentary, Creedence corrects, "You can be a princess, I can be like, princess-adjacent." Remembering Dawson's messages she makes a small face, "Do you um, speak french? Like for real speak it, not like I needed a credit to graduate and can sing the birthday song speak it."

Because Creedence 100% didn't want to have to call Maebe for help, but saying that out loud was nearly as uncool anyway, so Creedence just shrugged, "Just checking. If we have any trouble we can just use our phones anyway, right?" Plus they were, like, super soldiers with magic weapons. It's not like they'd get mugged or anything.

The two are briefly interrupted by a tiny French couple who greet them with a cheerful, condescending warmth that forcibly reminded Creedence of her grandparents. It brought all the homesickness she'd been trying to tone down rushing back, full strength. By the time they're left alone in their room with a fruit and cheese basket and pamphlets to local attractions, Creedence is ready to just crawl into bed for the rest of the trip.

But that would be incredibly lame, so instead she offers Melody a crooked smile and asks what she wants to do first.
