[Posting this now from google.docs. I forgot to do it OTZ]

Today was a good day…

To frolic and prance around nature, enjoy the sights, maybe feed some birds.

Or in Dmitry’s case, practice his skateboarding.

He grunted with a smile as he landed another jump, marveling at the fact that he managed to jump six times without falling! A new record AND it made him feel even more badass than usual. If he can get better, he’ll have ALL the tail coming after him in droves...Something that would be quite amusing to him. He continued to jump, falling on the eighth try. “********!” He cursed, getting up and rubbing his sore bum.

He still needed to practice it seemed.

Mercy liked the park. It was nice, it was quiet - usually anyway. She saw the gentleman and his skateboard and took great pains to stay AWAY from his general vicinity, instead taking her basket and laying it down on the grass under a nearby tree. She pulled out a blanket and laid it out on the grass, then slowly sank down onto it, tucking her sundress under her legs as she reached into her basket and pulled out her book. She started to read it, just enjoying the warm late summer breeze and the sun that came down on her already tan skin.

It really was a great day for reading, and she’d prefer to not have it disturbed, but if approached, she figured she’d be polite as necessary.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

For now, he guessed he could forgo practicing for now...Maybe he could find something or someone to entertain him while he recovered. His poor a** was smarting something fierce and as much cushion he had back there, it just didn't help. Dmitry looked around, skateboard in hand as he walked. Then SUDDENLY, his vision homed in on the cutest pair of tits he’s ever seen! He just HAD to go and investigate this discovery immediately!

The tall man casually walked up to the short cutie by the tree, blinking when he saw the book. Huh, a reader? Well….His eyes moved up a bit further and immediately widened when he saw her face now that he was a little closer. Oh. Hell. No!

Thank god he looked in time! That face was just too...Too…ADORABLE to be anything over eighteen.

He sighed.

Well Damn...He was already over here so might as well be friendly anyway.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

If Mercy noticed Dmitry she didn’t say so, instead just reading her book in the sun. Yes, her face still had all the baby fat of her tween years, it was about the only thing on her that hadn’t started to mature into a woman yet. So small blessings for that at least. Though one thing was certain, if the gentleman had approached and been a cad, Mercy would not have hesitated to pack her things and go.

Turning the page, she hummed a little to herself. Anyone who’d seen a particular animated movie involving a unicorn would know that song by heart.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Dmitry blinked.

He KNEW that song…

He quickly walked up to her, getting on his knees while keeping a safe distance. “ ‘Scuse me but...Are you humming the theme song to the last unicorn?” He smiled softly, prepared to leave if she asked. He was no *****, but man he hasn’t heard that song in the longest time! That was...His secret kiddy hood right there!

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Mercy’s head perked up as she was addressed, titling her head at the gentleman on his knees in the grass. At least he was polite and hadn’t walked all the way over to her blanket, so there was that at least. Mercy was still… a bit skittish, when it came to older gentlemen. She’d had a bad experience of late and it was not one she’d like to repeat. With a small smile she nodded her head a bit sheepishly.

“Yes, it was.” Obviously she’d stopped humming to talk. “The book is about a unicorn and a princess so I figured it was apropos.”

Her eyes remained on him, still a bit wary but more than willing to talk for now.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Dmitry chuckled a little bit at the word apropos. Ah, this new generation and their words, making him feel super old already at the tender age of nineteen...The fact that the girl was talking to him made him feel less awkward about chatting with her. “What kind of book are you reading? I mean, I know you said it was about a princess and a unicorn so...Care to enlighten me if you don't mind?” He seemed genuinely interested in what she was reading, having no idea what young kids read nowadays anyway.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“Just your usual fantasy novel fare… Nothing special.” Mercy said, eying the page number she was on before closing the book and placing it down by her. “Rather cliche really, if I’m to be blunt.” Normally by now, he would have introduced himself, so obviously he was not a proper gentleman but whatever, she’d work with it.

“I’m Mercy, by the way,” She bowed her head and picked up the edges of her dress to curtsey in her spot. “And you are?”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Wow....Well wasn’t this little one proper?

Dmitry stood up and bowed at the waist, bringing his right arm across his, left arm swinging out gracefully as he bowed. “Dmitry my lady, it's a pleasure.” Sure he may or may not have watched too much Black Butler, but hey...He hopes to cosplay as sebastian one day….

Maybe.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

It took entirely too much effort not to giggle so Mercy didn’t fight it, instead, she covered her mouth with a hand to stifle it a tad. “Would you like to join me for tea?” She asked. Recent events had had her start packing for two on the off chance that she’d encounter a certain cat - but so far she’d had no such luck. He was probably off hot saucing his poor owner again. Oh well.

“I have some snacks as well, if you’d like?”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Dmitry couldn’t help himself...She was just too adorable! What the hell, he’ll have some tea with lady Mercy. He smiled and sat down gingerly on her blanket, making sure not to take up too much space. “Sure my lady” he grinned playfully with a wink. “What kind of tea are we having?” If only his mother could see him now…

She would be taking pictures…

God he hopped he had a little sister. He would love to have tea times with the adorable little nub.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“Just iced tea, nothing special, it’s too hot for anything hot.” She smiled at her guest, pulling out a thermos from the basket and a couple of small portable cups, pouring the tea from the thermos into them. Then recapping it, she reached in and pulled out a few plates of cookies and finger sandwiches. It was really probably enough to feed three, but she hadn’t been sure about the cat’s appetite so.

“Help yourself,” She motioned at the food and the cups.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Wow...This was just too cute. Dmitry smiled once more, taking a cup and waiting for her to pour her tea first before he poured his. It was the polite thing to let the lady go first. “You first lady Mercy.” This was….god if he wasn't so manry right now he would die from the sheer adorableness…

Ahhhh the little ones.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

“I’m not terribly hungry right now, Mr. Dmitry,” She said matter-of-factly. “So please, by all means help yourself.” She was not in the mood to play the manners game. He could sit there and be hungry if he wanted. Sipping her tea she watched the man for a moment. “So what brings you out to the park?

She eyed the skateboard, knowing full well WHY he was there, but she figured he’d tell her all about it.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Well, that kind of backfired a bit. Shrugging, Dmitry took a sandwich and poured himself some tea, deciding to speak before he stuffed his face. “Skateboarding” he grinned, pointing to his board whom he named Annie just because he could. “Practicing that is...I'm not amazing at it, but I'm trying to get better.” He didn't bother asking her why she was here since it was quite obvious. Instead he opted for something else. “You like unicorns huh?” He eyed her book and was also going off of the fact that she was humming the theme song from the last unicorn.

This kid was pretty proper, maybe she came from a wealthy family? Dmitry could get behind that, his dad being the CEO of his own company and all.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

So she was right in her guess then. It made sense. Once her guest had gotten himself a sandwich she helped her herself. Grabbing a couple as well as some of the cookies and nibbling them slowly she listened to him as he spoke. When he asked his question, she grinned a little.

“No, I don’t like unicorns at all…”

She giggled a bit then, covering her mouth again.

“I love them.”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

At that, Dimitry raised his eyebrow. Figures a girl her age would love unicorns, but why? All his cousins her age watch that my little pony s**t, so why unicorns and not ponies?

"Love unicorns huh? Why unicorns?"

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Why Unicorns? Was he… NOT aware of the positive qualities of Unicorns? “They’re powerful, majestic, magical and most of all, only approachable by women of pure hearts and bodies… Of which I am both.” She said matter-of-factly. “They are the perfect steed for a princess, which I have been informed many times that I am.” By her father, who, she was inclined to believe.

“So yes, I love Unicorns.”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Dmitry did well to hold back a snicker. It was cute that she thought there was so much fact to a fictional creature! Well, he wasn't going to burst her bubble...if only she were older...He frowned slightly.

Just how old is she?

"I know it's rude to ask a lady her age, but how old are you Mercy?"

Hopefully he didn't sound like a creeper.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Eyes narrowed then, if looks could kill Dmitry would probably have been a cold crater in the grass.

“Why, yes it is extremely rude to ask a lady her age.” Mercy said, doing her best to keep her tone - polite and level. Oh, but those steel-grey eyes could cut. And they were cutting. Thousands of small tiny daggers boring into Dmitry.

“I’m 14, if you must know.” She said, flatly. It was a fact. One that she shared out of a need to teach this gentleman some manners. “So if you have any romantic intents Mr. Dmitry, you had best quash them now - you are far too old for me.”

She could tell he wasn’t in her age bracket - it wasn’t hard.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Good thing he asked. But god those eyes were super scary. He could tell she would become a fierce young woman later on in life. The youth waved his hand with a laugh. If he could ever have a little sister, he hopped she would be like her. Fierceness aside, he wasn’t scared of a little fourteen year old girl. “I had no interest of any kind Mercy. I was just curious since you appear older than your age. Can't tell with a lot of you youngins now a days anyway. So you can calm down now little kitten. Im not going to hit on you or anything.” He meant that in all honesty.

She did remind him of a kitten though. So adorable!

- - - - - - - - - - - -

And she was now again conscious of her chest. Thanks Dmitry. She’d almost forgotten about it! Her face flushed hotly then and she busied herself with looking around for another cookie even though she had one in hand. She had half a mind to throw the thermos at his head but that was dreadfully unladylike.

Didn’t mean she couldn't’ think it though.

“Thank you, sir, for your assessment.” She said with that same too-polite tone. “I will keep that in mind for the future.”

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Why did she blush? Did he say something wrong? he backed up even more, so sure that he managed to scare the girl into calling the police or something. he was no ***** damn it! He was just trying to be friendly! “L-Look I wasn't trying to offend you or anything...Sorry if I did Mercy.” he shook his hands as if to throw up a truce.

Sorry Mercy…

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Mercy coughed a little. “You’re fine, Mr. Dmitry, just… be mindful of your phrasing in the future is all.” She said with a small nod. “And perhaps don’t ask rude questions, that might get you further with a proper lady.” She nibbled at the cookie in her hand. More out of something to do. She wasn’t quite sure where to take the conversation now, but it was rude to ask him to leave, and she was stuck until he decided to go.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Well, he would take that advice and go with it. He wasn't looking for a girlfriend or boyfriend right now for that matter. He enjoyed being a free agent. However….He pulled out his phone, looking at the time. He needed to go and he was sure he overstayed his welcome with the little ball of cuteness in front of him. He chuckled and smiled at Mercy, getting up. “I'll take my leave then. Thank you for the tea and sandwiches Miss Mercy. Hopefully next time we won't meet under such embarrassing times. Continue to be the fierce little kitten you are!” He picked up his skate board and placed it down, skating off towards the city.

Today had been an interesting day indeed for him.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Oh, oh thank God. Mercy let out a small sigh of relief as Dmitry set off on his own. “You have a good rest of the day, Mr. Dmitry,” she had replied in her polite tone, before slowly cleaning up after the two of them. Repacking the basket and making her way back toward the bus stop. She made a note that maybe it was best to avoid this park during the day for a few weeks - maybe she could find another place to spend a more… quiet… afternoon reading before classes started.
