════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ The rest of the day was calm; wherever there was water flowing, a song for minstrels plucking their dull strings, tapped into motion by impatient bakers’ feet. It was a time of watching. Even if one didn't make eye contact, it was a safe bet that somehow everyone around knew exactly what was going on, like a spider in a dreamless night with its wicked legs plugged into the pulse of each thing flicking itself through the air. Every move was another piece of night, each mover a note on the sprawling-heart sheet they’d made. The attention on this was so great that it didn’t need to spoken, but what was it on? Certainly they were all waiting for someone to say something specifically. Worry then. Everyone was worried about what had happened to the troops who went out West to Lanayru in search of answers to this new threat.
Best believe their web picked up the subtle vibrations caused by hoofbeats off in the distance. Link and Ambiance were riding in at an impressive clip, carried by a high wind of victory. Just before they reached the gate, however, they were met by a lupine companion of Yamrha’s. At first it looked as though they were going to have to deal with yet more Wolfos, but the familiar seemed to have other things in mind.
“Look, the Hero!”
“Hail Greenie!” And just like that the town was up in flames with joy. Ganondorf, who held a temporary office in the Castle, couldn’t help chuckle a bit at Link’s fanfare. There was something about it, the way he drew them all in; all fans, all friends. Even the Commander was there to shout cheers at the green-clad Hero and Ambiance. … But what would the wolf say?

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking Returning to a familiar face was always a faster journey than moving away from it. Toward the city and toward the relatively friendly and familiar faces of the people who lived here. The prospect of returning was a happy one that was fueled indeed by victory and the joy of surviving. Ambiance better appreciated the work the hero did and decided that in any life she was possibly reincarnated to, she would never grudge the hero of his work. Hers was happier with other tasks. Though, she would admit, there was a unique kind of thrill in pursuing the unknown and risking life and limb. Certainly she felt more confident with her sword now then she had ever been.
Ambiance brushed her fingers through her hair, feeling a bit self-conscious in the presence of the people that flocked about. She convinced herself that they swarmed for the hero. At the very least, it made her feel a little less worried. Though, those about seemed to be in fairly high spirits... or might have only recently become so. They were collectively snapping out of distracted thoughts. She nudged Link's back, directing his attention, if briefly, on the idea that the crowd was excited to see him.
She could analyze them no further before her attention focused on the wolf-like creature before them. It had a kinder face and its eyes held intelligence enough to convince her that it was more of a dog than wolf. That, and it wasn't every day when a creature approached individuals on horseback.
I wish I could protect you here Oh, please don't cry, now, smile

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════Soon after the Hero arrived, about the time they were tossing him up and down in a big circle, the crowd was rudely alerted to the dark side of this fortunate moon. The familiar startled most of the spectators, but eventually most of them applauded, cheering the impressive magi of the castle wizards--or at least that's what their cheer-drunk minds had settled on.
News broke about attacks in the West, and in one package there was celebration and mourning; both suspicions confirmed. It spread like ink in water, billowing and curling slightly, banking off the peripheries of the semicircle in whispers; the center, the pure excess, was still to the eye, and yet it trembled against itself as the terrible thought reached the surface: "We are in a war now..."
Some came and grabbed Link. These were the fanatics, clawing at hope, even if it meant dragging it down into hell with them. They were fought off by the true friends. Lorant, The Wizard, even Relma was there, shouldering and bumping against the mob with hardened backs.
"Get outta here now! Get to the pub. We'll catch up!" Relma shouted over rows of people. Only a spec of green was seen, dancing on either side of a fine line like the shimmer of the ocean eating the sun--or maybe it was more like how one might see a tree making with the jazz hands in a warm summer breeze. And then he was gone.
"Don't you think that's enough foolishness?" Whether or not Ambiance would hear it or not, a voice with dark skin and shiny boots attached said them, mostly to the Commander.

The crowd parted around the Gerudo King and a small entourage made up of Hylian and Gerudo alike. The Commander raised his sword and beckoned for the hysterical people to shut the hell up. The rest of the Hylians followed suit--only the weapon brandishing--and soon the Gerudo joined in, just because it looked like the thing to do. The flutter flatulence of a fly could be heard, but instead powerful footsteps.
"This event is most unfortunate. As I understand it, the Hylians are to blame for Gerudo deaths." Ganondorf had been walking toward the center of the crowd, just slowly enough so that a full circle could be made around him in time. He turned away from the Hero, closing his eyes as if to concentrate, to remember something he might not have learned.
"... However," he began with weight, "I do not always understand very well. It occurs to me that I have come here not to seek your alliance, not to bring you war, but... To see the savior, he who should bring Hyrule out of chaos and place her neatly on the mantle of prosperity again." Now he turned back to Link, giving a hand signal to his troops.
"What would it be, to be the Hero, if there was no cataclysm? What would it mean to prosper if there was no hand looming, waiting to dash all these accomplishments, all these triumphs, down?" He chuckled once, shutting his eyes for a quick moment and flicking his hands in a rather Italian way. "But I digress. These are the hopeless ramblings of one who might wear fashionable hats, pretending to hide intellect underneath--individuality even!--but really only having a persona borrowed from those around him." His eyes were like tandem suns, drying up the sea of people as he stood up straight over Link.
"It is the same with you people. Today I see a crisis; I see a need for a Hero. Today I see people raising their prayers up in the form of that Hero; I see blind faith." He took a pause here, turning to the crowd once more. "... Now, why might that be? Certainly, if this is the Hero of Legend, we should all rally; all the ingredients are there." He turned again to Link.
"I see all that is true, but today... I see no Hero" And they all exploded. The Gerudo pulled in tight, protecting Ganondorf, and the Hylians beat down the wildfire in their square. Quotes:(Jax and Wasteland: just quoting to catch you up/invite you into the scene. No worries)

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking Then... the excitement of the croud revealed itself as fervor and panicked anxiety. The crowd in its desperation clawed at the hero and horse. Eponia held herself well, but the scene was disturbing and unsettling. Something had happened. Ambiance could only pick out bits and pieces of what was being said, all words hastily and quickly spoken. Worries and fears accompanying the threat of tears.
To the defense of the returning party were familiar friends. Lorant, Relma, and the others were there. Then they were urged to flee. Link wasted no time urging his steed onward and they broke free, rushing from the scene. Yet, as they fled, Ambiance looked back and just managed to hear a loud and commanding voice overtake the scene. She saw the imposing form of the Gerudian king as he addressed the gathered mob. They fell still at his words. But, as the distance grew, Ambiance could not understand what he said to them. Perhaps it was the tone and how it fell upon her ears that worried her.
Then.... there was a thunderclap and the king's entourague was gone. In its place, there was fire in the town square. Dread and a new anxiety shocked Ambiance's nerves. A violent exit rarely bode well. No, she knew enough to hope that the display had been a gesture of goodwill. The news was terrible indeed. She pieced together the panic of the people with this omen. Was it war?
I wish I could protect you here Oh, please don't cry, now, smile
