It had been several years now since the earth had frozen over, creating a terrible ice age and harsh environment for every creature caught in it. Most suffered in the first few months, and so many others died from the cold.

But now, it was just the demons and the mutants who were left. Ones who were able to adapt and survive the wind storms and freezing temperatures. All of them had believed the humans to be extinct by now. Even Noah, who was currently walking along the edge of a frozen lake trying to track the movements of a nearby rabbit.

He and his village were gathering as much food as possible before another storm headed their way, and he was trying to be hopeful that he would be able to catch something edible. if not, it was more frozen fish from the pond and a couple of berries to eat for dinner again, "damn rabbits. . .should have set a trap like Malik told me to."

Noah was ready to curse and give up on his chase, when the snow exposed the ice and the boy frozen inside of it. He stared at first as he tried to comprehend what it was he was seeing before rushing over to get a closer look, "what the. . .h-hey. . Hey! Can you hear me in there?" He called, then hissed and shook his head, "stupid question, probably not. . . .but i-is that a. . ." He started before narrowing his eyes.

When it dawned on Noah, just what he had discovered, he dropped his basket and rushed over to the forest's edge to find his friend, "Malik! Malik, get over here! I need help with something!" He shouted and rushed to untie his knife from his belt. It would take a while to chip the ice, but maybe just being exposed would give him some advantage , "hurry up!"

"I don't know, but if it is, we have to get it out of there." Noah said and hurried to the ice with his knife ready. He looked around for a good spot to start, and stabbed the point straight into the ice. But with the sun already warming up the ice, the one stab sent a large crack ripping through the middle of it. Noah stared in a bit of shock, but pulled his knife out and began to stab in different places.

Each stab made a new crack, and let him twist chunks off of the ice-structure before he finally was able to take a piece away from the "creature's " hand, "H-Hey, Hey I'm finally reaching him. Get that other piece off of his face, I think it's ready to break away." Noah nodded and continued to work on the ice over the man's chest.

"And freezing to death. What kind of demon can't stand the cold now?" He said, but hurried to pull off his coat and wrap it around Kobu's shoulders. He pulled the man up so he was leaning against him, and wrapped one arm around Kobu's waist, "we have to get him back to the village. Get him warmed up before he dies of exposure out here. Help me carry him back."

It was going to suck getting scolded by the elders for not bringing food, but it was better than waiting and letting this. . .person, die out here. Not when there was so many questions to ask him, like what he was for starters. He never met a demon with no fur, scales or any kind of skin like this in his lifetime.

"We don't know why he's shivering, but we have to get him to the medic's tent. Go get an elder." Noah called to one of the children before pulling Kobu a little more. He didn't want the children to start tugging at the man to try and talk to them, and also didn't want him around the kids should he turn out to be some kind of berserker. It happened, now and then, to some demons who didn't want to hide their true nature once humans had died out. At least that's what noah had been told.

He set Kobu down on a nearby cot, and pulled a few blankets up over the man's chest before biting his lip, "h-hey. . .I don't know if you can understand me, but you're going to be fine. We're going to get you warmed up in no time. . . .can you tell me your name?"

"There's no need to look surprised. There are thousands of demons out in the world. . .I think. It's not an uncommon thing." Noah chuckled and tilted his head curiously before turning to hear a cough from the elder behind them, "it's uncommon for a human." He said and shuffled over to look over Kobu. Noah backed up hearing the word and stared at the demon before glancing over towards the shivering man, "h-hum. . .human? But. . . .elder, that's not possible. There are NO humans left. How can he be a human?"

"Must have been frozen during one of the last great storms. Undiscovered. . .left in a kind of coma all this time. . ." He muttered before the old man cleared his throat, "He may very well be the last human on this planet, but I can not be certain. All I know is that you boys have found something incredibly rare and dangerous."

Noah gripped onto Malik and watched Kobu before biting his lip. As frightened as he was of the new human, he did have to feel bad for him. He had no idea just what happened over these past few . . . .decades, he imagined. The elder shook his head and shifted to block both of the younger demons behind him, ". . .I can not imagine how frightened you must be. . .but you must listen to me very carefully.

No human has been seen in a few centuries, at best. Many of us believed the humans went extinct. . .you are the first, and probably last, human we have seen in a very long time." He nodded and looked over as one of the nurses from the medic tent came to give Kobu a few berries to eat and a large piece of fruit.
