Professor Winter's booth was simple, elegant, and clearly divided in two: on the left were different sized plain boxes, on the right were objects of varying shapes, sizes and weights. In between was a neat little triangle of tubed wrapping paper, each with a different pattern, and in a line on either side was rolls of tape, different coloured ribbons, and cute giftmas gift tags.

The Demoness herself was seated behind the booth filing her nails, but she'd take time away from that long enough to explain the game: test your skills at wrapping giftmas presents, and potentially win a prize!

THE ALL IMPORTANT GAME RULES

  • You can only win one prize per player - but you can use different characters to try to win!
  • This means that the most a person can win is one of each mini.
  • You can attempt either game once per OOC day.
  • If you have any questions, please post them in the House Cup QnA, and quote me!

GIFT WRAPPING GAME

> Choose the boxes on the left
You slide to the left, deciding to choose wrapping the easy, simple boxes.

GIFT WRAPPING: EASY MODE
  • Roll a 4d4. You can either do this in separate posts, or all in one.
    • First Dice: This is your wrapping paper! ICly choose any wrapping paper you want. There is an assortment of colours and designs!
    • Second Dice: This is your tape! Rolling even (2,4) means you chose a single-sided tape, while rolling odds (1,3) means you rolled double-sided tape.
    • Third Dice: This is how well you wrap the box. 1 being awful, and 4 being great!
    • Fourth Dice: This is for overall decoration. Do you add ribbons? Write out the gift tag? Draw all over it? Add tiny candy canes?
  • How to win: Your dice total must equal to 9 or more. Anything less than that is considered a lose, and Winter is a little sad at your attempt. (Yes, it is possible to lose if you manage to wrap it perfectly! Maybe your paper and ribbons don't match, or something happened and you tore the paper - be creative!)
  • To claim your prize: Put the form below at the bottom of your winning post!

Victory Form:
Only post the form below if you won this game!

> Choose the oddly shaped items on the right
Boxes are too easy. You want a challenge. You step to the right, and pick up a random item.

GIFT WRAPPING: HARD MODE
  • Roll a 5d6. You can either do this in separate posts, or all in one.
    • First Dice: This is your item. It can ICly be anything you want! 1 means it's a small and only slightly awkwardly shaped, while a 6 means it's large and super awkwardly shaped!
    • Second Dice: This is your wrapping paper! ICly choose any wrapping paper you want. There is an assortment of colours and designs!
    • Third Dice: This is your tape! Rolling even (2,4,6) means you chose a single-sided tape, while rolling odds (1,3,5) means you rolled double-sided tape.
    • Fourth Dice: This is how well you wrap the random item. 1 being awful, and 6 being great!
    • Fifth Dice: This is for overall decoration. Do you add ribbons? Write out the gift tag? Draw all over it? Add tiny candy canes?
  • How to win: Add the second, third, fourth and fifth dice only. Anything 18 or higher is considered a win! (Yes, it is possible to lose if you manage to wrap it perfectly! Maybe your paper and ribbons don't match, or something happened and you tore the paper - be creative!)
  • To claim your prize: Put the form below at the bottom of your winning post!

"No you don't," Akubi said in response to Riyo's words from the earlier booth. "If I left you alone then I would be just like anyone else that left you alone to sulk after something bad happened to you." He said with a short laugh. "I am sure that's how you process your pain, but it clearly isn't working out for you real well." Akubi said bluntly.

No. He would find a way to cheer her up after something happened to her. Even if he had to cancel all of his naps. "Look. Gift wrapping. What could go wrong here?"

Any number of things could be wrong. But Akubi was trying to be optimistic.

Carmine had been wandering around the various booths that were set up for the House Cup. He hadn't actually decided to do anything at any of the booths yet. For some reason he was compelled to giving the gift wrapping booth a try.

First, Carmine picked out some paper, he chose a glossy black paper with little gold bats patterned across it. What a surprising choice.

Next, Carmine picked up some tape, he happened to grab the single sided stuff. Less likely for it to stick to him. He began wrapping the small box, and did a pretty decent job if he did say so himself. It wasn't perfect, but what did you want?!

Lastly, Carmine decorated the box. He grabbed a giant gold bow that practically dwarfed the box and stuck it on. Then he drew a tiny little card to go with it and attached a gingerbread man.

DONE. Carmine beamed at his gaudy, but wrapped, gift.

What was wrong with that?

Riyo's brow furrowed as Akubi made the point that her current methods weren't working. What made her angrier is, well... He was probably right. Sitting in her room sulking usually didn't work.

Not that she would admit it.

An audible huff was released as the only protest to the boil's reasoning. "If you have to ask, you haven't been at Amityville long enough." A point she revisited from earlier thoughts. Though, her eyes seemed to linger on the shiny paper just waiting to be adorned on those strange boxes. This was at least a mild mental stimulation.

The sounds of Riyo's disapproval were noted but not acknowledged. Mostly because he wasn't going to reward 'bad behavior' with any sort of attention. Not that he had any ideas of how to give positive reinforcements, because he was still trying to figure out what made his friend happy.

So far it was nothing it seemed.

"How about we try this giftwrapping thing out," he said, again blatantly ignoring her correct assumption that he was clearly not living there long enough. Well, that was a lie. He huffed a little and sent her a small glare, "Not sure what that has to do with treasuring time with a friend that wants to desperately please you."

Maybe he did have emotions outside of sadism. Who knew.

She didn't like the fact that he brushed her off so easily. There had been a time where Riyo only took joy in conflict, because it was the easiest attention to come by, and often times she could finish on top of said conflict.

The feline had of course been prepared to say something snarky once again about doing anything remotely fun, but Akubi's word dart had hit the bullseye, and it was evident in her face for at least three seconds. Her eyes widened, head snapping back towards his direction. The shock melted into some form of disturbed guilt, as if such a thought had never once crossed her mind. She figured he was just getting his kicks bothering the s**t out of her.

"Fine." She had to give him credit. No one could get under her skin quite as well as he could. At least... this could be considered a skill-building exercise. Now she would have practice wrapping all those 3 presents she may or may not give out for Christmastival.

HARDMODE

Akubi nodded slightly, "That's right." It wasn't that he wanted her to be unhappy. He really was trying to find something she'd enjoy doing. He dragged her all the way to the table for gift wrapping and began to get to work.

This could be fun? At least a little cathartic. Either way he let her go now and dug around in his pockets and got out a small oddly shaped box that he wouldn't really let Riyo get a good look at. It seemed to be trapezoid shaped, and little bit bigger than the palm of a hand, but not by much.

He picked some wrapping paper that was predominantly red colored with small red diagonal stripes. Mostly he liked it cause it was shiny and seemed to be sturdy. Getting out the single sided tape he began to wrap the present as best as he could.

Akubi was being oddly meticulous about it. His efforts paid off as it looked fairly nice and perfectly wrapped, odd shape and all. The last part was just simple red ribbon wrapped around it. There. Now he was done. He looked over to see how Riyo was faring. "Are you enjoying this at least?"

Helki seemed to be having a hard time after the first event so of course his wonderful mentor took it upon himself to cheer the boil up. Tavi had a lock around Helki's arm as he dragged him towards Professor Winter's booth smiling. "Hey hey...how bout we play here?" The demon suggested excitedly, tails fanning out behind him. Surely a game would cheer Helki up and if not maybe food would do the trick.

With less resistance than previously shown, Riyo followed Akubi over to the booth, looking over the different options. Of course, instead of picking something simple to start off, the stubborn demoness picked the more difficult items.

She picked an axe.

It was shiny and sharp. Of course she was drawn to it. Unfortunately Riyo had missed the fact that instead of pulling something out of the pile, Akubi had picked something from his own pocket.

There were so many different lovely papers to chose from, and yet... Riyo went for the one with the cats. There was crazy cat lady wrapping paper. Which... Really didn't go with the item she had chosen. Her tape choice was at least a more reasonable one.

Regardless, her wrapping job was hideous. jagged edges from the scissors, tape in too many places, ripped paper in the middle. The works. It was... So ugly it was almost beautiful.

In an effort to hide the bad job, Riyo used ALL THE BOWS. SO MANY BOWS. LIKE... 50 BOWS. Five had somehow ended up stamped to her cheeks and hair.

The question posed to her received no verbal response, only a stare that asked, 'what do you think?'

Helki had been feeling rather put out after his own lacklustre performance at the (not so) Jolly Obstacle Course. After all, running was something that he always felt that he was good at so coming in almost last for the obstacle course had completely crushed him and it was apparent in the way that the wolf boil displayed a complete lack of interest in anything when prompted by Tavi, other than wanting to head directly back to the room that they shared back in the Demon dorm.

But Tavi would have none of that of course. So Helki found himself stuck with the kitsune demon and dragged towards the nearest booth that happened to be Professor Winter's. He didn't want to do anything in particular at the moment really. He just felt so useless and pathetic for doing so badly in something that he ordinarily would have aced. Something that even his ex-boilfriend Zaire along with his current squeeze Jory managed to complete way way ahead of him. Just what else was there remaining that he was good at anymore then?

Looking up at Tavi, the wolf boil gave a wry smile. Poor Tavi who was stuck with him as his mentor and was trying so very hard to help him. Some day that patience would run out. Some day Tavi would see that he was a lost cause and decide to stop wasting his time and give up on him. "Ok..." Maybe he should leave instead of waiting for the other boil to do so. He couldn't stand going through another loss like he had with Zaire.

Akubi tilted his head at the wrapped gift that Riyo had managed to piece together, "I think it is ... actually pretty interesting looking," was it sincere? Who knew with him. More than likely it was.

He also liked to collect gaudy looking baubles and things, so it was probably not a good idea to depend on his aesthetics.

"Well... Nothing terrible happened though," He also pointed out to her. Riyo was still in one piece and so was he.

Riyo grumbled and tossed the item back in the pile after noticing his pristine wrap job. Sure. While nothing good certainly happened, nothing bad did either.

"Sure." The feline cut herself off as best as she could from continuing on with the pessimism. His words didn't make her happy, but her ultimate goal was not to make him miserable. It was a point she had to make to herself over and over again, as best as she could. This was gonna be a rough time. Maybe this was a trial in the house cup, overcoming your piss poor outlook. If it wasn't, it should be.

"Can we just... Go to the next booth?" She held out her arm, just waiting for the boil to drag her to the next location.

Brute still hadn't bothered to go and find his brother to help with setting up their own booth, because he was still far too distracted by everyone else's booths and all of the curious things therein. So far, nothing he'd seen really held his interest for long, however, save for that booth where everyone had been taking their shirt off. That booth had been particularly interesting, and actually, since then, the wyvern had yet to actually put either one of his shirts back on, still walking around with both tied around his neck instead.

But the booth he came upon now made him take pause. There was something about it that was almost unsettling to the monster boil, and he got closer and closer, head weaving from side to side, cocking left and right as he got a better look, and decided what it was about the booth that was so strange to him.

It was that it was so neat and organized, so tidy. The very aura around it shrieked of no nonsense, and the professor who sat filing her nails, overseeing the booths activities, well, she was just down right intimidating.

Brute thought to leave. He was already taking a step back, his lip pulling back from his teeth, when she looked at him, and he found himself going stone still.

Moments later, with the rules of the booth explained to him, and with not being able to see how he could possibly get out of this one without trying, Brute found himself awkwardly clutching one of the boxes in his hands, holding it up just enough so that he could nibble on one of it's corners, before another look from the professor made him stop.

Eyeing the assortment of wrapping paper that was laid out before him, he chose something shiny and green, that reminded him of his own lovely scales, and he set the box down carefully on top of this. Next, he bent down and picked up the tape dispenser in his teeth, dropped it, and picked it up again, and dropped it again.

He was going to have to use his fingers, wasn't he?

Letting out a disgruntled sound mixed with a sigh, he awkwardly managed to work the dispenser. It was probably lucky that the tape itself was single sided, as with double sided tape he probably would have had even more trouble, with a very real possibility of getting tape all over himself, and every where else. As it was, he didn't do too badly, tearing off strip after strip and using it to wrap the box up as nicely as possible, pushing it around with his arms, laying his head on top of it to hold paper in place, and delicately placing each strip of tape as if his life depended on it.

When he was finished with the wrapping, he actually thought that it looked pretty okay. Nearby, there were little odds and ends that he could apparently add if he wanted to. Since the teacher seemed to be looking his way again, he snatched up a single bell and placed it on top. It was a very lonely, very pathetic looking bell, but he felt that it was good enough, and he looked over towards the professor expectantly, hoping that he did a well enough job that he could leave.

While still staring directly at her, one of Brute's arms extended out towards the table, and down, and began pawing and clutching at a sheet of wrapping paper that had caught his eye, as it was decorated in delicious looking spookies.

Without blinking even once, he then shoved this wrapping paper into his mouth, chewed, and swallowed, heavily.

It did not taste nearly so delicious as it had looked.
