A light breeze pushed through a lone mare's short mane. With a soft smile, the mare lifted her head and enjoyed the feeling. Her eyes slowly closed for a moment before they opened once again and focused on the clouds overhead.
"I wonder what life is like for a cloud. Free to travel with the breeze." The mare mumbled softly to herself as she imagined herself as a big fluffy cloud. A soft, blissful sigh escaped the cream mare. Oh how she wished she could bring herself to travel so freely.
As Hadley turned her attention to the patch of flowers she had found, she couldn't help but giggle at her own thoughts. Others would more than likely find them foolish, but that didn't stop her from dreaming. How lucky she had been to find these flowers. There were a few colors she could pick from. Her yellow eyes slowly scanned the flowers, picking the ones that weren't the most beautiful, but weren't the ugliest either. She felt the need to gather a few of these flowers before winter's icy grip took ahold of them.
The sound of a few blades of grass being disturbed by something caused the mare to slowly lift her head and focus in the direction of the noise. When her eyes landed on the cream stallion, a grin appeared on the mare's maw that she could not hide no matter how hard she tried. Finally! Someone else to talk to besides herself! So this land wasn't deserted after all! Joy rushed through the mare as his voice echoed in her ears. Surely he wasn't just a mirage!
"Hello there!" The mare fought the urge to zoom over and embrace the stallion. Her body trembled slightly from the excitement that swelled and seemed to overflow inside the mare. Hadley took a slow breath to try and calm herself. His question caused her to pause and think for a moment. If she told him no, he would surely leave in order to find someone who knew their way. That would leave her alone once again.
"Sadly, I have only been here a few days... BUT I would love to assist you in finding your way. Perhaps you could use a traveling companion for a little while?" Initially, the mare had no intention of staying in these lands. They seemed deserted and, to be blunt, boring. Something about this place drew out her curiosity. She couldn't put her hoof on it, but leaving now would only leave her to suffer and wonder what this land held secret. This stallion now gave her hope that there was something more, something she hadn't seen yet.
