It had been a somewhat unsatisfactory abrupt ending to an investigation that had taken their attention for some time.
Of course, Team Rocket might still have been 'looking into it', but being, to use a cop show metaphor that was... really almost entirely apt, 'off the case' left Tambrey a little unsatisfied but at a loss of anything to do about it.
It was back to the world of speculation and safer, more routine, work, she supposed; not that the kind of science Team Rocket involved itself in could ever be called routine in truth, but there was a mystery left out there that she couldn't play with. It had left her somewhat melancholy.
An afternoon off presented a welcome opportunity to get into civvies (sandals, jeans, a black t-shirt with a Thor-Pikachu print, and her blue jacket) and head off toward Sandalwood.
The heading of choice, that she'd chosen with Aulus to visit, was a booth bar she remembered from her student days. She was unlikely to be recognized after so many years, and the bar, as far as she knew, wasn't even in the same hands, not that she'd ever visited it often.
A Pidgeot flight and a short walk would bring them to the bar. Upon dismounting Pygi, her goggles came off, to be placed in the satchel she carried, and her glasses were placed back on; a quick tidy up got her hair back into it's usual ponytail.
'The Grumbling Grumpig' was a medium sized venue- most of the space was taken up by private rooms, and the floor was timber from the tree it was built into. There was, of course, a bar, but it was short and without bar stools. People were clearly intended to sit in the booths or stand.
"Um. I can buy, if you like?" Tambrey offered upon entering.

It was maddening, that was what it was, at least if he was going to put it politely it was. Not knowing, knowing he might never know, and knowing he couldn't do a hell of a lot about it was- ugh! Orders were orders though, there was no help for it and it wasn't like he didn't have plenty to keep him busy with regular small field operations, training his team, working with trainees and grunts, classes, etc etc.
Because of both of the above, and everything else that was going on with Faleen's defection and all, it was a relief to get away from the base with his partner; a few drinks, some bar snacks, and maybe a chance to dissent the current situation all sounded pretty appealing.
In deference to the cold and also to not making a scene Aulus was wearing a thick grey jumper with a subtle black snowflake pattern, black jeans, big boots, and gloves. As they alighted he rubbed his ears, wishing he'd worn a hat too.
"You can get the first round then and I'll get us some snacks," Aulus agreed as they entered, pulling off his flight goggles and his left glove but leaving the right one on. "Nice place," he added, glancing around the bar with interest; Tam had said she'd been here before a couple of times, was it like she remembered? Well either way it met with his approval so far.

It was likely Tambrey had just chosen her clothes out of habit rather than with the season in mind; footwear especially. Despite it, though, she didn't seem to be as bothered by the cold as she should be, though she did flex her toes, pleased, to be in the warmth of inside.
"Sounds good. Um. Yeah. Still nice." Tambrey agreed, moving toward the bar. "So, what would you like to drink? And, uh, we'll try and get the booth one from the back on the left, if that's okay? I mean, any would do, but that one's nice."

"Uuuuuh." What did he want? After a moment Aulus shrugged - it wasn't like he was going to get judged here for not having a Manly Larger - and said; "See if they've got mulled wine on? 'tis the season, fa-la-la-la- and all that jazz. If not I'll have a red wine, whatever their house one is. I'll get us some crisps and nuts? And the table of course," he added with the grin of a man who is pretty confident in his ability to scare off any rivals for said table. Looking like trouble on legs certainly had its advantages.

"They will." Tambrey grinned, and nodded, apparently very confident of the fact they'd have mulled wine. "Sounds good."
The drinks would be a couple of minutes longer, of course, but Aulus wouldn't actually have to scare anyone away from the booth nor wait too long.
Tambrey would appear with the drinks fairly quickly, and take up a seat, kicking off her shoes and tucking her feet up under her on the seat. Her specific choice of this booth was mostly likely down to the position of the heater right next to, and under, the table.

When Tam came over with the drinks Aulus commented; "Good choice of seat," having also discovered the warmth of the heater. "Thanks," he added, accepting his drinks and gesturing to the packet of crisps and one of nuts that lay ripped open on the table. "Dig in before I eat everything. Oh," he raised his glass and tried to think of a toast. After a few moments of thoughtful frowning his shrugged and offered; "To 'well it could have been worse'?" It could he guessed, a lot worse, but wondering about this was going to kill him- figuratively speaking of course.

Tambrey was quick to take one of the nuts, crunching on it happily as she settled comfortably next to the warmth.
"Mhm. A lot worse." She agreed as she raised her own glass to the toast. "Cheers!"
She sipped afterward, thoughtful about what they'd just toasted, then shrugged a little. "At least we do know more now. Even if just because of circumstance we know more than we did."
