"Tony, is Sarah dressed yet? Harmony will be here any minute!"
Their little girl was stuck in the terible twos and had finally learned the word no. She was Daddy's girl for sure but that did not always save him from her newfound attitude. She fought them on everything she did not want to do, including being put in fancy dresses. Kyn had laid her dress out early, getting up almost before dawn to start the cooking. Thanksgiving took a lot of work but she was happy to do it to be able to give her family a good day.
"Elle! Nathan! Come down here!"
Everything was going at once and she could use the extra hands. She loved her family, struggling each day to give them the best of everything. She'd been busy for a week preparing and everything still wasn't close enough for her to feel good about it. Harmony let herself in without announcing she was there and smiled.
"Hey mom."
The mint haired girl was immediately enveloped in a big hug. She relaxed against her mom and went to work, seamlessly setting the table and doing other things she knew her mom would want her to do. She'd been through this a million times and was excited to spend time with her family.
"Where's my baby sister?"

Ellie had been folded comfortably in Nathan's lap, Hadaya on her lap and a gaming controller in her hand. After months of watching him play this game and that, she'd finally gotten curious enough to want to give it go, and, after a somewhat embarrassing introduction, found she wasn't too awful at it, so long as she took her time, and so long as the difficulty setting was normal. She had been working through the story mode on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. She'd missed the beginning of it, months ago when Nathan had played it, but mid way through the plot had caught her attention, and she'd enjoyed watching her boyfriend play through the end. He'd moved onto another game, but she'd asked to play through the story again herself. At the moment she was attempting to take out a few snipers on a ledge, carefully creeping out around a corner, taking aim, and- Kyndell's voice calling up to them had the immediate reaction of the ginger pausing the game. "Guess we better help, huh?" Her head tipped up to Nathan, lips brushing his chin. Glancing towards the clock she winced, slipping out of the young man's lap. "I thought it was earlier." She'd lost track of time. Oops. Setting Haddy on the floor, she turned and caught Nathan's lips for a long, lingering kiss, the sort they didn't subject the rest of his family to, then she was flashing him a grin as she headed out of his room. "Tony, do you need help with Sarah?" Ellie was always eager to help with the baby, but voices coming from downstairs had her hurrying down a few so she could lean over the banister to peer into the kitchen. "Hi Harmony!"

"Well," Tony called down, when he heard his wife asking for him. He looked at his daughter, giving her an impatient eyebrow furrow as she giggled and kicked her second shoe off, then began work on getting herself out of her dress for the third time since Tony began this epic quest to get her ready for thanksgiving. Perhaps by Christmas, she would be ready to go.
He opted not to give Kyndall an update, not wanting her to have to come up here and tend to this, on top of everything else she had to do. After all, she had been working very hard all day and while he tried to do what he could to help... he was generally useless.
But at least it was not for lack of trying.
Elsewhere, Nate was enjoying his day off from all things, including being a senshi. He liked that Elle was trying to play some games, and watched her plod her way through the FPS with slowly increasing skill. Soon, she would be a gamer.
He lost his thought when she kissed him, smiling dopily at her in a way that only she was able to make him do. He followed after her, donning his usual, vaguely grumpy mask instead. Hadaya padded along behind them, trying to keep up on his stumpy legs.
Nate wasn't much for greetings, so he went downstairs and nodded his hello to Harmony, though he was glad to see her. The nod was proof.
"Ah hah!" Tony's voice came from the baby's room, and soon enough he emerged, holding a nicely dressed little girl who looked delightfully happy despite the fight she put into getting into her clothes. Now that she was looking pretty, she was clearly well aware of it, and knew that plenty of attention and love were coming her way. "Look who's ready for Thanksgiving?"

Harmony called hello to Elle and smiled at the ginger. She was happy Nathan found someone that he could get along with, or so she assumed. It was hard to tell with her brother. Her arms wrapped around Elle first, saying a bright hello. Despite his nod she hugged him anyway and made him suffer through her affection.
Sometimes she missed living with her family but with everything that had happened to her recently and all the changes she was going through it was hard not to crave the familiar.
"Everything smells so good, mom."
Kyndall was spooning food into dishes and handing them off to her children to set on the table. When Tony came in she beamed. The dress she bought fit like a dream and made her look angelic. She moved to kiss the little girl but she started making hands for her sister as she came toward her. Harm took the baby from her stepfather and kissed his cheek. Then Sarah spotted Elle, her usual playmate, and made hands for her instead, wanting affection from everyone.
Kyndall gestured to her husband and then to the turkey.
"You're carving, love. Will you take that monster to the table?"
The turkey she bought was perfectly done, but a gigantic bird, guaranteed to give them leftovers for weeks, days if Nathan got at it enough.

Elle returned the hug with a smile, laughing as the mint haired girl moved on to wrap Nathan in a warm embrace. He could play grumpy all he liked, she at least knew better. The ginger shot him a knowing smile as she was handed a large baking dish, winking before heading over to place it on the table. It was hard not to think about the DMC, the holiday get togethers she and Leto had organized. A little pang of regret made her chest throb, and she had to take a moment, masked the bittersweet smile with a crouch and a stroke of slender fingers along Hadaya's ears. She missed her old family, but she loved her new one. Loved how welcoming they were, how easily they had accepted her into their lives. Bending, she lay a kiss between small ears, then rise up again to turn smiling towards the littlest Darrow as those tiny hands started to reach for her. "Oh, sweet patootie. You're such a cutie," she gushed, pressing a large kiss to a pudgy little cheek. At Kyn's request Elle tucked fingers around Harmony's elbow, gently steering the other girl towards the table. "I haven't seen you in ages, how've you been?" Sarah was lift on her sister's loving embrace, at least for now. If the toddler started to fuss she'd relieve the other girl. She took a seat I. Her usual place, and automatically bent to scoop the guardian off the floor and into her lap.

Nathan looked fittingly unhappy with the hug, keeping his arms firmly at his sides, hands stubbornly in his pockets. He endured, though, and nodded stiffly when she pulled away, offering her what might have been a smile if he weren't working so hard to be annoyed by the affection.
Hadaya purred at Elle's touch, rubbing against her affectionately. Of course, his mood was very high because he could smell all the incredible food that was in the house, and wanted to partake in every last piece of it. After all, there were so many different smells, he would have to take his time to figure out what food went to what scent, and taste each accordingly.
For record keeping purposes.
He took his seat on Elle's lap, eagerly lifting himself onto his back legs and putting his stumpy front paws on the edge of the table, straining as far as his little body would allow to sniff at the food that was being assembled. This was heaven. this had to be heaven.
Tony let the family gather around the table, taking their places, before he started cutting the turkey and distributing it to plates according to preference of meat and cut. Nate was sitting next to Elle, swatting at Hadaya, who was desperately trying to keep himself from hopping up on the table and running to the turkey and only just barely succeeding.
Dogby and Gizmo were shuffling around under the table, used to family dinners and knowing where to sit if they wanted to get treats snuck to them. Under the table was the magical zone of free food, either dropped or given to them furtively, and both Corgi's were well aware of that.
The elder Darrow smiled as he looked around at his family. There were quite a few of them, extended and not, and he loved them all. His wife, his son, his step daughter, his potential daughter in law, his baby, and of course all the animals that kept them laughing. This was what perfection looked like. The smile on his face said it all, though he kept his thoughts to himself for now and focused on the very important task of serving food.
The crowd might riot if they were not fed soon. Led by a small, tubby cat.

"Elle, please set Hadaya on the floor. I draw the line at pets at the table."
All of the animals in the house would probably get as much of the meal as they wanted, but Shalott could not abide them at the table the way Haddy was. Lord knew if she allowed it Dogby would have been right there ages ago. She knew the Guardian cat was a special case, but since there was one person at the table that, probably, didn't know about talking cats she couldn't break her rules for him. It would be suspicious.
Harmony looked around and was thankful for her family. She was thankful for the way her mom's hand found her stepfather's and how adorable her baby sister was. She was thankful for Nathan finding someone that could suffer through his grump. She wanted all of them to be happy because she was happy seeing them.
"So, bro, when am I going to call this gorgeous lady my sister?"
Kyndall made a snorting sound, choking on the water she'd just taken a drink of.
