Nerves shot through her like crazy as she sat on the boat with her mother. The way the elderly woman was behaving was causing V'demhe to feel anxious. "Mother, please calm down. The boat will not sink." If she had known this was how the older Alkidike would act then she would have risked taking Virain to the isles. In truth Dem was close to smacking her own forehead. With the boat rocking from her single mother's rigid movements it was difficult to stay still. Even the warrior that was rowing them across the waters was becoming slightly agitated. The young blade had left her significant other on the shores of the mainland as she went to collect her mother. It had been hard or her since she worried something would happen to him if her back was turned for even a second. Which is one reason why she left Maha with him. The radaku would keep him safe for her. Then of course there was Tanou, the pink radaku that stayed in the shadows most of the time but seemed to like her, Maha, and Rainy. "I really want you to meet Virain, mother. He is.." The Amazon took a moment to think of how best to describe the Water Tribesman that she had fallen for. "He's my mate and I will one day ask Aisha for a daughter with him." That would show the elderly woman just how important Rainy was to her. She hoped. V'denri, Dem's mother, eyed her a little before she took a deep breath ad calmed herself with a nod. She could do that for her only child. She could endure a boat ride and be nice to this Virain. She looked past her daughter and spotted the large shore of the mainland growing closer. "V'demhe, my flower, I will try." If this person that her precious child was smitten with did not respect the Alkidike ways she could not promise much.

Virain couldn't help but twirl his staff in tight figure-8's, nervousness bleeding into the mindless movements. In the trees above him he could hear Tweets distinct gentle chirps as he gossiped with the wild kinfa, hopefully getting tips on how to fly in straight lines. The thought startled a laugh out of him and he ran a hand over his face, setting the butt of his staff against the ground. "Get a grip Virain." He muttered to himself. He wasn't going to his death or to gain a grievous injury. It was only 'Dem's mother he was meeting, the person who had raised her and cared for her, and would possibly break him in half without a thought if he didn't meet her expectations. No pressure. Nope, none at all. He'd just charm her like he somehow managed to charm Maya. He was so dead.

Lirende Nervous Rainy is so cute~! When their boat was finally close enough to the shore it was V'demhe that hopped out and led the floating thing up onto the sands. She had to do something to get out of the boat. Her mother's actions were starting to make her fidgety. With the boat secure she made her way over to help her elderly mother out and onto solid ground. "Here we are mother." While she spoke to V'denri her eyes were looking down the beach at where she could see the outline of Virain and Maha. Her mother must had noticed as well since she let out the same shrill whistle she used to gain the Radaku's attention. Within seconds the blue beast perked his head up in their direction then took off like a puppy being reunited with a sibling. Eager to get to Rainy, Dem looped her arm with her elderly mother and headed toward him. Of course they would barely make it half way before being bombarded by her familiar. "Maha, calm down." She tried to give him attention while at the same time giving a hopeful look toward the Matori male she was happy to see.

"She's going to kill me." He muttered to himself, face paling as his attention was caught and drawn to the two figures on the shore. "I'm going to die and get eaten by the wildlife." He was shaking as he forced his feet to move, one step at a time while Maha raced off, a bouncing bundle of happy blue fur. He swallowed and reminded himself that this meeting wasn't going to be like the others. He wasn't in any danger, he wasn't a lost little boy, he didn't have to worry about an overprotective mother threatening to take his head off. Oh who was he kidding, V'demhe's mother would probably still threaten to take his head off if he so much as thought about hurting her. What was it with overprotective mothers threatening him before getting to know him? That being the case, what was it about Alkidike mothers that led them to near violence in his presence? Was it because he was blue? Were his earfins that odd looking? Or was it his spots? He mentally pouted, he liked his spots... He swallowed as Dem and her mother came within easy conversation range, which put him in lunging distance. He hoped Dem's mother would be nice enough to save the threats until after introductions were made. He cast a hopefully look at Dem, noting how old her mother appeared to be. Well, she had said that her mother had been older when she'd..asked for? Dem to begin with so. "Erm, hello." He said, voice trembling a bit as he cautiously stepped within grabbing distance. "Was the boat ride alright?"

Once Virain was within hearing range she was pleased. He even took initiative and said hello first, which had the young Alkidike beaming with pride. Maha was oblivious to any tense feeling in the air as he was getting hands on attention from his Alk and her mother. V'denri paused long enough to look up at the boy as he spoke and she gave a small nod of her head. "I don't remember boats being so wobbly but we made it." By that statement alone it should have been clear that the elderly Alkidike hadn't crossed the waters since she was young. Dem had to shake her head at her mother's words but she smiled at Virain. "It was fine. Virain, I'd like you to meet my mother, V'denri." With formal introductions being made the older of the two amazon's looked the water tribesman over like she was buying something from the market. "Will he grow bigger, V'demhe? He can't be a fierce warrior if he's small." While she hadn't meant for her words to mean anything they did come out a bit harsh. "Mother!" Dem went practically wide eyed at what her mother had said. "It doesn't matter. I like him how he is." Her cheeks turned a bit pink but she gave a reassuring smile to Virain. Aisha, she hoped her mother didn't say anything else like that.

Oddly enough, the near judgemental comment about his height did the trick of calming him down. He blushed and grinned at Dem, one hand coming up curl at the back of his neck. "Ah no, it's alright. My p-parents are both short so, I don't think I'll be growing much bigger." He felt a stab of pain in his chest as he thought about his parents. He didn't know who his real parents were now, but he was an adult (or close enough to one) and he didn't know anything anymore. It...hurt, but part of the pain had dulled with time and excitement, and well. Having V'demhe near helped a lot. "Ah, I don't plan on being a warrior, not really. I know I'll never be able to keep up with V'demhe if I tried." He said, dropping his hand to his side. "I-I'm going to be a healer. Mostly. I'll learn enough to keep myself out of trouble and danger but, I want to help people more than anything." He was blushing again, he knew it, and the urge to hide his face was strong but his desire to gain V'denri's approval was greater.

The elderly Alkidike eyed Virain as he spoke but she did listen. Her drooping antennae swaying slightly as they failed to give a full jerking twitch. Her short dreads were pulled back and away from her face as well. "I see." Came her response to the boy's words. "Well that means you can heal my little flower when she gets hurt." V'denri gave a nod of approval for that. Her gaze went to her daughter and she brought one hand up to rest on her hip. "You didn't say he was going to be a healer." Dem groaned as her mother called her "little flower" in front of Rainy but that groan turned into a gaping look of disbelief. "Well.. I wanted you to meet him first." Now she felt like she was in trouble. Her mother certainly had a way with that. Before she could get another word in Maha butted his head against her thigh demanding attention and pats. After scolding her daughter, V'denri gave her attention back to Virain. "My daughter has always had eyes for others but I need to know if you will accept her. She is a faithful daughter to Aisha and she'll need to come home for the festival." It was one thing to allow her daughter a liaison with someone but quite another to accept a life long mate. Plus she wanted to make sure that this boy wouldn't interfere with Dem's loyalty.

"Ah. I'm glad that it isn't a problem. I..was against being a healer at first but, well, you can't really run from what you're meant to be." He said, fingers trailing over the grooves in his staff. He snorted softly, lips curled in a smile, "I don't doubt I'll need to practice healing on her. She gets into as much trouble as I do." Not that they'd had any say in the trouble they'd gotten into recently, but still. It was a bit of a sobering thought. "No, I have no problems with her coming home. I'm not her keeper nor her minder." He blinked at V'denri, "She has a life outside of the one we'll build together and I respect that. Besides, I doubt I'd be allowed to participate, nor would I wish to presume I'd be welcome." He glanced at Dem, "I...would probably be on my way to Matori during the Festival. We have our own customs that I've missed out on and...well. I'd like to eventually know my own origins." He silently asked her if that was alright. He would be a little upset if it wasn't, but how could he remain so when it was about things he'd never known before? But it did raise a question, who would their children take after more and would Aisha accept them if they took more after Rainy?

Lirende Dem's mom is inquisitive. XD V'demhe smiled at Rainy and nodded her head. "I will likely make sure he makes it to Matori before I return the islands." Though she might wish to spend one year with him there just to see what takes place. Certainly Aisha couldn't fault her for that. Moving closer to Virain she leaned down and nuzzled his cheek before placing a kiss upon it. "I do not get into trouble.." The mother watched her daughter show affection so openly but seemed unaffected by it. Or at least not disturbed by it. "I am not sure about the festival but you will certainly be welcome on the isle when you seek Aisha's blessing for children." It was customary for both parents to ask the great mother after all. "That will be soon yes? I do want to see my little flower have daughters of her own before I rejoin Aisha's bosom." With Dem giving her attention to Virain, Maha turned to the elder woman for his lovins which she was pleased to give to him in the form of scratching under the chin.

Rainy let out a pleased hum as Dem pressed a kiss to his cheek, and tilted his head so that he could return the gesture of affection before she moved out of reach. "I know things have been rough lately for Alkidikes in general and their families." Rainy said softly, watching V'denri as she gave Maha the loving he wanted. "I don't want to push things by asking so soon." It never crossed his mind that the talk about children was coming out quickly, that they might be rushing into things. He just knew that Dem wanted a child of her own and V'denri wanted a grandchild. He would take things as they came and just go with it since it would make both of them happy. A small part of him worried that he wouldn't be a good parent, his youth and the lies he'd been fed being the foundation of that insecurity. But, look at Dem, he knew that he wouldn't be stumbling about blindly on his own.

Blinking several times she stared at her mother in disbelief for the second time in under an hour. "I still have to explain to Virain about that." There was a small pause before she cleared her throat and turned her attention solely on Rainy. "Uhm.. Rainy.. Alkidike's don't carry their new borns the way earthlings do. We ask Aisha for her blessing and if she approves she gifts us with a lotus pod." Dem stopped there to see if he understood her words. She didn't know how much he knew of her tribe's culture. "In other words boy, when I call her my little flower it is because she was born from a lotus." V'denri crossed her arms over her chest as if daring Virain to find that weird. The woman smiled a little before she went on. "It will be interesting to see what color the bloom will be if Aisha blesses the two of you." It was now the elderly amazon's turn to step closer to Virain. "I like you boy." There was a solemn nod of her head before she linked one arm with his and started to pull him toward the boat. "If you have a pure heart then Aisha will like you too. Come on, little flower, the great mother will need to hear your wish personally."

A lotus pod? He wasn't sure he'd seen one of those before and had to wonder if they were the same as a water lilys. "That sounds like it's a lot less messy." He commented after a while, turning over the logistics of having a live birth over an incubation period? Growth period? If he likened it to a kinfa egg and hatching, incubation would be the right term. He hoped. He blinked at the comment about bloom color. Did Alkidikes not have a variety of colors on their lotus pods? Did coloration represent things such as healthiness or just if they were hybrids? He could feel himself getting excited just thinking about what-if's and different scenarios. "A-ah!" He squeaked as V'denri linked her arm in his and started to pull him towards the boat. He turned wide pleading eyes towards Dem even as he mouthed 'Help Me!'.

Dem wore a small glare as she watched her mother. She had been trying to be delicate so as to not upset or confuse Virain about things. The last thing she wanted was for him to be angry and leave her due to some misunderstanding involving children they didn't even have yet. When her mother started to pull Rainy toward the boat she shook her head and hurried to catch up, trying to speak quickly. "Mother, Virain and I haven't discussed having younglings yet!" That was enough to get the woman to stop in her tracks. She turned her head to eye her daughter then the water tribesman she had by the arm. "Do you want to have daughters with my little flower, boy?" A small brow was raised as she waited for the answer. "Can you handle an amazon child?" V'demhe groaned. "Mother! Virain I'm sorry. I didn't think she'd be like this." A hand came up to rub at her neck.

He couldn't help the laughter that bubbled up from him, "It's fine! She's fine! I'd be a bit more worried if she were indifferent to it all." He was still nervous, now for an entirely different matter. "Truth be told... I thought she'd threaten me like Maya did." He turned his head so that he could look up at V'denri, "I'm glad you didn't. I didn't know what I'd done wrong with her and it turns out it wasn't anything I had done."He blushed and smiled, "Of course I want to have younglings with her! I'm not sure what handling an Amazon child entails but I'll do my best." His best was all he had to offer and somedays it didn't feel as if it were enough. But could they really handle raising a youngling or two? He didn't have a permanent home, though Dem did. He was still training to be a Shaman and his Master liked to go where his feet took him, would he be alright with settling down for a while? How long did it take for a Lotus to blossom? They would need all that time and then some to take care of things and and oh, just thinking about it all was making his head hurt. Heras Box Looks like Rainy is trying to think like an adult, lol.

V'denri grinned when she heard Virain laugh. The mentioning of a threat had crossed her mind but there didn't seem to be anything here to threaten. Clearly he was trying to make an effort for her daughter and that was all any mother could ask for. "It means the child will get into trouble just like V'demhe does." Now the elderly woman gave him a wink. Dem was too busy grinning at what Rainy had said to react to her mother's antics again but she was thrilled to know the one she had a deep affection for wanted younglings. "I would love to have younglings with you too, Virain." Unable to keep her hands off him, V'demhe wrapped her arms around the male she considered her mate and hugged. Of course she would likely lift him off the ground as well. "There, you see. You want younglings, she wants younglings, I'm not getting younger.. Aisha waits on the isle. So into the boat with the both of you." She motioned to the floating thing where the other Alkidike waited to see who was getting in and who wasn't. "You can drop me off at home and make the journey together." There was a firm nod from her once again. "W-well.. I-if Rainy is ready then sure, but.. if he's not.." Releasing him, Dem did something extremely girlish and tucked her hair behind her long ears.
