In this corner, a relatively simple food stand had been set up. The logo of the Crazy 8 Restaurant and Nightclub rests over top. There's a small counter with several stools set out before it for a few people to have a seat. Some fresh, but raw, fish can be seen resting on ice. Behind the counter is a one-eyed Reaper, who doesn't particularly seem too thrilled to be there. Another reaper can be seen at times, coming and going from the booth. A small menu written in chalk is set on the back wall of the booth. Spider roll [8] -----Tempura Skitters, carrot, cucumber
Tiger roll [9] -----Nekogiri
Moonlight roll [11] -----Sharain, minced crab meat, avocado, deep fried doom fish. Topped with floresce roe
Torch Roll [10] -----Firelands floresce, carrot, Also happens to come out on fire.

Next to the menu, is another sign. Crazy 8 Challenge The Crazy 8 Challenge!
Can you survive eating these 8 pieces of specialty sushi?
5 silver seeds to enter.
If you survive, you win a 50 seed gift card. Good for getting someone something for Xmas! OOC You start off with 17 endurance. For every piece of sushi, roll 1d4. This is how much endurance that sushi piece takes away. You can roll all 8 in one post, or separately. Keep track of how much endurance you have left. If you manage to eat all 8 without your endurance going to zero, you win the challenge! The sushi itself is super spicy.

"Was this really necessary, Akane?" Shun asked in a deadpan tone as he prepared the knives, making sure they were adequately sharp for the task ahead.
"Of course it is. Doesn't hurt to get a few new customers. Besides, never know when either of those guys might try to pull a fast one. Two birds."
"I understand that, but you could not have grabbed someone else?"
The older, female reaper gave him a look.
"You're more of a familiar face around here. Maybe it'll draw in more people. Now enough with your griping. I have a few more things to take care of," she snipped before wandering elsewhere, leaving the grim to his own devices at the booth.
"Bloody. ********. Great," he grumbled under his breath.

Merope's eyes took on a bright gleam as he plunked his five silver seeds down. "Crazy 8 Challenge," he said briskly, cracking his knuckles as he eagerly looked forward to it. While waiting to be served, Merope re-read the sign. Specialty sushi? His excitement grew. His excitement was quickly quenched as soon as he realized that it was spicy. Quote: 2 - Pass (15 remaining) 4 - sweet ocean it burns but Pass (11 remaining) 4 - it still burns Pass (7 remaining) 2 - Pass (5 remaining) 2 - Pass (3 remaining) 4 - Fail (-1 endurance) 3 4 By the sixth piece, Merope was on the ground shoveling snow into his mouth in an effort to cool it off. If he wasn't already dead, he probably would have made the sound of some sort of dying whale. Like an awuuuuuuugah or something. As it was, Merope managed to clear a small patch of snow off the ground with his impromptu emergency snow-cone without the cone.

Someone had fish. So, naturally, she followed her nose to find it, and ended up accidentally kicking someone on the ground. She peered down, squinting in the light that was still much too bright for her, and made a small gasp.
"What are you doing?" Em inquired, leaning over Merope as he made dying whale noises on the ground. Her strangely shaped black out umbrella managed to cast a shadow over him, at the very least.

Merope reached up with shaky hands, clutching at Em's hands. "The sushi," he whispered, "Don't take the Crazy 8 Challenge."He dramatically released her hands and fell backwards, onto the cleared ground. A moment later he propped himself up on an elbow and added, "Seriously, don't take on the challenge. Or if you do, pick a different spot. I've already shoveled all the snow around here down my throat to try and quench it."

Em watched the dramatic death scene with a great deal of confusion, which ended with her staring at her webbed hands as she tried to piece it all together. Crazy 8 Challenge? She had never heard of a thing.
"Um. 'kay?" It seemed pretty safe to not do something she had never heard of. There was a long, drawn out pause that followed, before she added: "Also, you need'a work on your whale noises. Yer a little rusty." After readjusting her umbrella, she finally looked up at the booth. "I smelled fish and - Hey, neat! They have a challenge!" She pointed at it with a webbed claw, then leaned in to squint at the board. "Crazy…eigh---"
"Oh. Is this what you did?"

Merope awkwardly cleared his throat. " Whuuuuuuaargh." "... Yes," he answered, fins drooping as he hauled himself up and off the ground. "Are you going to do it? It's just eight pieces of fish'n'rice --" he pointed at some sushi on the counter. "Those things. Except they've done something to it to make it spicy." He rubbed his throat, grimacing. "My throat still burns a bit. You gonna take it on? The challenge."

Em made a face. "So rude."
Then she stroked her chin thoughtfully, looking between Merope and the challenge board from behind her dark goggles. On one hand, it sounded painful. On the other, there was eight pieces of fish on the line. Hmm. Em considered her options while her lure bobbed lazily, making the underside of her umbrella glow.
"…I kinda do." She decided after a moment, shifting her umbrella so it propped up against a shoulder. With a now free hand she grabbed Merope's arm and held on. "Stay for moral support?"

"Deep comfort you," Merope said as he solemnly placed his hands on Em's shoulder. His gaze shifted from Em to the board, then back. "I don't," he began, "I don't see a limit... If you want, I can take it with you. For support," he added, "And for additional misery. Misery likes company. I think." He shook his head. "Land-phrases are weird."

"Misery likes company." Em repeated, nodding solemnly. "Land-phrases are weird." She repeated again, again with a solemn nod, but then she straightened up, and put her webbed hands on his shoulders in return.
"Hokay. We can do this. Are you ready?" She squeezed his shoulders before letting him go. A deep breath was taken - followed by a little coughing because of all the stupid air that was so easy to choke on - and she closed her umbrella, leaning it against the booth for her to grab later. "Let's do this!"
The first piece went down without being chewed. It simply disappeared behind a mass of needled teeth.
"...Not so bad." She decided hesitantly.

Shun watched Merope as he took the challenge, only to stop partway through to start shoveling snow into his mouth. He was not strong enough for the challenge. Before too long, a second student came up, one he didn't quite recognize. He tilted his head at her as she too decided to take the challenge. "We do have normal sushi that will not set your mouth on fire too, you know," he stated in a deadpan tone. But hey, he wasn't going to stop anyone. It was their tongue they were killing. After setting it out for her, he stood back. Watching.
