In hindsight, insisting that he was finally old enough to go to the mall by himself was a bad plan. Like, a seriously bad plan. Even if he was starting to compress under his family's vocal love and unsaid expectations, Adrian should've realized striking out on his own might've been a step too far for his painfully introverted self. As it was, he was leaning against the wall, concerned for its unusual stickiness yet unable to find another spot that would either a.) be less sticky, or b.) less conspicuous. So, he simply stood against the oddly sticky wall partially hidden by shadows with only mildly internal grumbling.
He checked his phone - a (glittery and pink) hand-me-down from Rebecca that was still light-years ahead of the Earth models thanks to her tinkering - and resigned himself to yet another hour of waiting before Papa came to pick him up. Truly, Adrian had accomplished what he wanted all he wanted at the mall - his backpack now held the latest book in the series Shawn had gotten him hooked on and he'd gotten the new game for he and the twins to play. Liam had slipped him a few extra bucks so he could re-watch his favorite Disney movie (that had been a good way to waste two hours after he'd done everything else) and Dad had promised to wheedle Papa into making their favorite sandwiches for dinner (which, if he was to be believed, were made with love and that's why they tasted so good. Papa said it was the special sauce, but he always seemed really pleased at the compliment.)
He sighed, tail twitching as he glanced dully at the candy store right across from him. "The girls might like some sweets..." he muttered, mentally counting up how much of his spending money was left over before heading tentatively over to the brightly-colored shop. It couldn't hurt to get them chocolates - and maybe Liam and Shawn would like something, as well?Kivras (Sorry this is late! I had a paper due today OTL)
