The day was really bright and unseasonably warm. While the trees had shed their foliage and the ground laid half in frost, the place where the sun had yet to hit. A silver stallion stood watching the sky, a frown on his muzzle. There were deep set lines on his face, ones caused by stress and lack of sleep. The nights were never the kindest to the stallion as his dreams were plagued by events of his past. His times watching his siblings and the growth of one that grew distant of the family and its ways. One who now sought its destruction because of his mess up.

Guilt weighted heavily upon his shoulders, his wings taking a beating the last time he caught up with the mare, now a skinwalker. She had changed so much from the filly had once knew, the sister he liked most of all his siblings at the time. It hurt to know that he failed to protect her from the evils that now were her own. Andre snorted at himself, striking his own head against the closest tree as if it were going to help. It only caused himself to gain a headache. Could he not get all this out of his head? What would it take to forget about Neva and the pain she had caused him and his family. Did he have to actually end his own life to end all the suffering?

There were so many questions and Andre knew no answers to these questions. He didn't know anyone who could answer them completely. Life was looking bleak and death looking more pleasing each turn of the moon. Where was the end?

As the summer had waived its farewell to fall the days seemed to grow hotter. Soon of course winter would breath her icy breath upon the land leaving a cold front to lie within her wake. Walking silently out into the land she had accepted as her own a gray mare looked strangely up at the sky then returned to her walk slowly. Glowing orange orbs glancing around her from time to time taking in the sights of her second homeland. It was nothing like the jungle where she was born save for the heat that saturated her back reminding her of the intense hot days her troupe lived within. Rains seemed sparse here not like the rain forest lasting for days on end. Back home it was easier to find water all around you simply drinking from a giant leaf that captured rain like a bucket in this day and age. She stopped once again looking upward eyes darting here and there. She seemed skittish but she was determined to tear herself away from solitude today.

For years she stayed in the sanctuary of the teepee and Celendria's watch now. She'd never stray farther than a few steps afraid the world would shun her. Glory had gone off with her mate ages ago traveling with him. Her children returned home which made the mare happy to glance upon them. Her own children though had scattered like the wind leaving her without hope and reassurance. The two-legger known as Tirranna was quite helpful and was seen as a dear friend in the gray mare's odd orange eyes. She was the one that gave the skittish mare the confidence she needed to finally step out into the world again.

She kept walking with prickles along her back forcing herself to bolt if anything odd jumped out at her. Blowing out softly with flicks of her ears she pressed onward. Her remembrance from home kept her dazed off and on keeping her from noting the new stallion a few paces in front of her. When she finally stopped watching the sky and the clouds the mare's heart was ready to jump from her very being. In a panic she froze as she stared at him like a deer in the headlights. Her mind screamed at her to bolt yet her heart kept her in place.

How long had it been since she had talked with anyone let alone lt herself open to meet anyone from the outside world she wondered.

Silence, it was broken when someone or someone made noise in the brush around him. It pulled the stallion back from the darkness, just enough to actually take notice of the surrounding around him. Someone else was there, someone that was unfamiliar. Then again he was in unfamiliar lands, all the time. Wandering as he did in these times, trying to find the monster that had been his sister. Lifting his head up he spotted the mare that watched him. Just as she, he stood there watching her, judging what was to come. Backing away a bit, his wings opened slightly, trying to make a shadow big enough to hide himself within. This was something he didn't anticipate on, nor what he really needed. He didn't want to drag anyone else into his troubles, not now.

"Sorry" was all that came from his muzzle as he backed away even more. "I didn't mean to..." He didn't finish his sentence as he didn't know how to finish it. He was going to mention that he had brought trouble, but he was alone. The trouble was just in his head, a figment of his broken mind, and demons he had yet to vanquish. Always looking over his own shoulder to see if Neva was there, stalking him as she haunted his ever sleeping and waking moment.

The lemur mare was frozen with fear. Her mind was racing why she even left the safety of the herd in the first place. Her courage attempt was less than up to par as her hocks felt like they would give out at any moment then she stopped hearing the elder's wise words in her mind.

"Kimi....you will never know happiness unless you fight that fear and smile again. Go out and see the world for a passing glance can travel many years if you don't soak it within" the elder spoke quite softly nudging the skittish lemur out into the world again.

Now the lemur mare swallowed hard letting her voice crack as she spoke, "Scared you Kimi did. Sorry Kimi is" she murmured never letting him leave her gaze. Something was terribly wrong in the way he was apprehensive with body language. Her ears swiveled as she studied him inquisitively. She worried he might shun her like other stallions but he seemed scared if not hurt in some way. She herself was frightened beyond her senses but the lemur mare wanted to know why he was acting the way he was.

"Alright you are not? Kimi might maybe help?" she spoke with another flick of her ear. It was worth a shot in any case maybe he wouldn't laugh at her language or think she was odd for her looks. Maybe this is why Celendria had nudged her back out to face the world again. For maybe there was a purpose after all.

Passing behind a tree, a pale pastel eye glancing back at the mare that stood staring at him. With the tree between them, he felt a little safer, for her sake. There was blood on his hooves, though no one could see it, the deaths of others fell onto his shoulders. The carnage that Neva wrought upon the lands were mostly his doing for not being a better brother. With his mind preoccupied an ear twitched as the mare started to speak. Her voice was low that he almost missed it completely.

"I am sorry if I have caused you distress. I've... Had a lot of things on my mind and lost myself within myself." Andre said turning his head away, his wings flicking slightly at his sides.

Andre listened to the mare as she had spoken more, her wording confused him a little. Having never heard anyone speak in such a way, turning his gaze back towards the mare, head tilting to one side. Curious.

"There is much troubling my mind, troubles I wish not to burden anyone else, Kimi was it?" he asked looking the mare over from where he stood, not daring to move. "Mine's Andre,"

Trouble? Much like that for her loved ones lost in that fire the entire herd then washed away by that flood afterwards. No this was different. Her speech lessons Thoyoka taught her washed away over the years. But she never stopped believing she could be liked or otherwise tolerated. The elder had been gracious watching over her all those years. If only more Soquili were as understanding as she was.

"Kimi's name is Kimimela", she spoke again softly, "Kimi's speech.... difficult for others."

She breathed a little easier sensing no hostility from him only fear and sadness. This made her eyes open wider as her heart beat a little faster though it wasn't in terror more of distress. Her herd or troupe she grew with as a foal were very open and understanding to others pain. She was never one of the favorites persay but she did lighten a few hearts with her laughter. Maybe she could someday call this stallion a friend and see him with laughter like her troupe acknowledged her for. Then a great feat would be known and the little lanky lemur would be herself again.

She shook her head, "Burden Kimi you do not. Kimi hid too long from the outside she did. But Kimi she knows to help... try she will" she spoke taking a small step toward Andre then pausing.

"Kimi try if Andre let Kimi help?" she swived her ears watching him her orange orbs glowing a bit with curiosity.

"Kimimela. That's a cute name for a cute mare like yourself. Your speech might be different, but we're all different in our own little way." Andre nodded as he moved a couple steps so that he wasn't so hidden to show the wings that laid over his shoulders and draped down his sides. The feathers less then glossy from lack of proper care and it looked like he couldn't really fly with them at the moment. "While my differences aren't that, different from others in the world. A different way of saying things, even if others find it, in their mind, lacking a brain." He looked away some. "... If you ask me, I like the way you speak... It makes you unique in this black and white sort of world."

It was true that he had to ponder over her wording to puzzle together what was bring said, it wasn't hard to understand. If this was how the mare spoke and was taught the way to speak, who was he to hold it against her? It was like telling a river to run uphill instead of letting it run down. It just didn't work that way, at least as far as he knew.

When it came about to his trouble, he wasn't sure he wanted anyone else to know about it. About his past and the failure he had become to his family. He had let them down more ways then one. watching the mare as she seemed really wanting to help, he gave an inward sigh and nodded.

"If you really think you can. There is much darkness in my past and not enough light to keep it at bay" Andre put out into the open, really he was on the edge of throwing himself off the highest cliff and forget how to fly. It seemed, to him, the only way out of his pain.

The little gray mare's shined like orbs in the orange setting sun. Her ears listened to every word of praise and admiration for it's something she never had the chance to experience with so few in her lifetime. He genuinely seemed earnest if not compassionate which made her tremble with a smidgen of positive energy.

"Kimi thanks Andre from her heart at the bottom" she said with a small smile, " Lost so much Kimi has to gain... Celendria said there is so much to find".

She wanted to sing a prose from her homeland but her words tumbled and fell into a never ending loop of failure knowing full well Andre was struggling with her speech. But, he didn't correct her or point out her oddity. Only, the opposite which was unique to only her.

"Kimi will listen. If Andre shares Kimi always listens. Hard it is sometimes but sharing sadness stronger it makes you. Kimi listened to listened to Celendria. If Kimi believes Kimi will learn" she nodded with a swish of her tail along with a flick of her ears.

Somehow the day wasn't so vexing as she had thought. If he was wanted to share she'd learn his heartache. True she wasn't magical in any case but always listening was a strength in itself. She'd do what she could of course but mostly let him know she genuinely cared.

Andre wasn't overly sure he wanted this little mare to know the pain he had gone though. He watched her as she seemed to brighten up. Was it something he had said? He hadn't known of too many that could speak in the way Kimi did. But he always had an open mind and allow things to be as they should.

"You aren't the only one that has lost much." Andre said turning his head towards the trees, as if something should have been there, watching him. "But it is always nice to meet new faces."

He looked back towards the lemur mare, moving a little closer, leaving a good bit of space between them. He didn't want to seem like he was encroaching upon her personal space, but didn't want to seem like he was shouting either.

"What I have lost was someone I thought was family. I haven't really a friend who can tell me to move past it. This darkness is ever drawing me towards the cliffs where maybe my pain can be ended and I won't have to worry about it." Speaking of throwing himself to the abyss and oblivion. "My baby sister, has changed, turned to the darkness and ever torments my family, our family. She has all but cause my mother's death, if it was not for my Father always protecting her."

The little gray mare listened to his heartache causing her to feel a little more saddened. She lost her entire troupe to the fire and flood caused by two leggers but the only instance of death that surrounded her here was dragons and forbidden Walkers. She'd never encountered a Walker personally so her concern went out to this new stallion immediately. She'd never be able to ward off something bearing no conscience condoning death as it wrapped itself around them like a pelt from the forbidden lands. Still Kimimela may seem skittish on the outside but she was much more than her troupe she gave a solemn thought of remembrance to every now and then.

"Sadness rule your thoughts it can. Learning a while it took but Kimi is understands more there is to things to see", her ears swiveled as her head nodded slowly.

Losing family was hard she knew this well but the lemur mare had learned even in a world of strange inhabitants there was always a light at the end of the tunnel. She only hoped Andre's conscience was true as was his heart. His simple action of listening to her made her consider him a friend. He wasn't vain nor was he ignorant, simply in truth he was being led by fear much like she herself was for so many years. Glory was her best friend that now spent her time with her mate out there in the world. Kimimela was lacking a good friend other then the elder that helped her understand the world better. Her heart would break if Andre would even remotely opt to jump off a cliff and never soar into the clouds descending into death unknown.

"Kimi as she said can't do very much but Kimi is here to listen which she has. Would be sad if Andre away you went. But... knowing Kimi does even in darkness light there is at the tunnel's end", her ears lowered as her eyes glowed a little looking at him. Simply just a passerby in the great world but a friend was simply the greatest remembrance and gesture anyone could ever hope for. Not in a romantic sense mind you but a kindred spirit you could genuinely care about when their world was crumbling into nothing more then despair.

He backed away a step, then a second. She made things sound so easy, to look past the hurt and strive for something more. But what was there? His mate was gone vanished in the night leaving him alone. His children were off living their own destinies. His was to vanish, just like his mates, no one in this world would even notice that he was gone. The only thing it would really do is open the door to Neva. Neva be damned, he was tired. And getting even more tired, this life he was living was sapping his spirit away and soon he would be as broken as his own mother's. His nerves and will to live stretched thin and those lines on his once handsome face were growing deeper.

Now there was this mare who appears like the mist itself, her unique speech reaching out to him. Trying to break through his darkness, one that was ever encroaching, its jaws open to devour him body, mind and soul. But what was he doing shrinking back? She was a stranger, even if he knew her name, but she was just that, a name. The echoes in his head were growing louder, images flashing over his vision making it hard for him to see. Turning abruptly, he reared back to headbutt into a tree. The bark shattering under the impact, a small trickle of blood trailed its way down his muzzle from a cut on his forehead. Why wouldn't these voices be quiet? The images subside?

"There is no light to the end of my tunnel. There is only darkness awaiting with open jaws." Andre muttered quietly, his head still planted against the tree he had rammed into. "No light, no meaning to continue. No anything." His muttering falling into delusional quiet ranting.

Was he truly lost?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 30, 2016 2:10 pm

She watched him carefully noting his every step and unconditionally her heart called out to him. His pain struck her internally deep within she raise no qualms stating otherwise. She knew pain herself when her troupe burned in that massive fire. She'd never forget the cries and screams and cries before the flood washed it all away as if it was meant to be forgotten.

Her life hadn't been the best in her memories. Losing your troupe then being caught by two-leggers and sold off to the lands she knew well now. It was a nightmare for a small lemur who could only cry out from her torment in the sad song of her people. She closed her eyes willing the cries to go away for now wasn't the time to be mournful of herself. Andre had been hurt by his sister badly. Madness fills those that give into the darkness and succumb their souls to everlasting torment. It was even worse for those that love the family member tormented by that very darkness.

She spooked momentarily when his entire body slammed into the tree. Her instinct was to run, to flee as far away as she could. Thus her heart began beating madly as she made a small whimper of her species. But, her feet stayed planted solid not budging from their standing. She was truthfully terrified at this moment in time yet her heart refused to let her budge. He was in so much pain she couldn't stand it nor did she want him feeling it anymore.

"Ahoooooooooo" she cried as she made a few steps toward him. "Fight it you must Andre. All you have you must fight. Kimi isn't going anywhere. Understand you must. Listen to Kimi you must!" Her voice cracked in fear but her heart and mind were strong.

There was almost a crazed look in his eye as Andre turned a single orb towards the lemur like mare that was speaking to him. His ears flattened back as if he were trying to block out what she was saying, her voice almost distant in his mind. It took a few minutes for her words to sink into his mind, bones and being. Almost instantly his body sagged and he tumbled to the ground and away from the tree, His legs folded beneath him as he lay there. Wings slipping open as if he couldn't stand to have them folded anymore.

"And if there is nothing left worth fighting for?" The question came more quickly then he had wanted it to, but it was out there in the open now. "Everything just seems pointless and all ends the say way."

Rolling his head just right he looked up towards the mare as if she were a giant and he was but a tiny ant. Such a small thing, but it was how he was filling right now. To have been once so mighty, now to have fallen to the lowest he could. Was this really how his life was going to end? Speaking to a mare who's beauty, shunned by the one she loved, stood shinning over him? If it was the end, at least he had something to remember in passing.

Not even thinking about it, the wing closest to the mare raised itself off the ground. An invitation for her to come closer and lay beside him, if she wanted to, If not, then the space would remain filled with cold air and him, alone.

The world seemed to crash in upon itself through the eyes of a timid yet strong lemur mare. Andre screamed silently through words that shook his sanity and otherwise world he once welcomed with open wings. Her muzzle twitched slowly sliding along her teeth and back again. Orbs as orange as the sunset could do nothing but watch him fall to the ground his murmurings of demise. Nothingness surrounded him in endless agony a guilt placed over him like a veil of pain and suffering.

Watching him with watery eyes she noted his wing raise upward a simple sign of comfort that he cried silently for right now. For a moment she was perplexed then paused thinking back to the night her troupe was lost among the debri and burning embers. A young mare left alone standing there with tears dripping downward like diamonds in the night. How she wanted to fade, simply vanish from existence knowing her world came to an end living within the jungle. But, she didn't give into temptation with her willingness to push onward. Her own decision to join a new land full of suspicion and prejudice.

Stepping forward slowly she lowered her head in response to his subtle emotion moving toward him without further thought. Taking a deep breath hoping her own emotion wasn't getting the best of her she folded her legs pulling herself next to him as her heart beat with a step quicker than the last. Taking the initiative like her instinct with her own foals she nuzzled him speaking softly, "Kimi knows always something to fight for Andre. Give up you mustn't for always a way there is". Her words were shaky but she knew he heard her hoping maybe he'd listen more.

Even in the most dire of circumstances there lied a light at the end of the foreboding tunnel. The simple truth was uncovering the right emotion to lead you in the right direction. Not even contemplating how close she was to him at the moment she closed her eyes and hummed softly the long lost songs of her troupe from years ago.

That cold space was soon filled with the warmth of the mare he had been talking to. As she settled down into that space beneath his wing, said wing folded down like a blanket over her back. The appendage was of course light and wasn't like she couldn't get away if she needed to. Right now, comfort was one thing that the old stallion needed. His life had turned from happiness and family to one of turmoil and despair.

"At this point, I don't know if there is anything to fight for." His voice was quiet, one that was barely heard over other sounds. "At this point, I don't feel like there is. Everything. Is in. Ruin."

It was almost like Andre was drifting off to a sleep he had been avoiding for ages. While he had once been a proud and strong stallion, in his prime at least. Now he was feeling like that of a frightened foal. One that hare scars both of the flesh and those of the mind.

"What do you fight for?"
