Dirt. Mud. Crumpled leaves. Feathers?Spick n Span ambled inside. She was tired and filthy. And, surprisingly, content. The normal grumbling and near shrill cries were nowhere to be heard as she went in search of her ma, Sea Whip, to ask for a bath. She knew it would be an ordeal of scrubbing and lots of rinsing, too. At the end, she'd be clean and smell nice and maybe get a nice snack of milk and cookies before bedtime. Or maybe just snuggles. Or a story. She'd settle for any of them, if she even managed to stay away once she'd had her bath. "Ma?" she called. She didn't want to go much further into the house. She might track mud inside. So she'd have to hope Ma would hear her and find her instead. She could manage another minute. Just one more minute.

Sea Whip heard the little filly's call and came out to the doorway. Oh. Oh was the little unicorn a mess. She was glad, though, that Tidy was such a conscientious bab not to track mud into the house, unlike a certain earth colt. "I take it you've had an exciting day?" she smiled and used her horn to bring out the dustpan and broom. The presence of the cleaning implements a sign that it was alright for Tidy to come in, muddy tracks or no.

Tidy grinned, albeit a bit sleepily, up at her ma, "Yeah! Swamp Net took me on an adventure." (That probably went without saying, all things considered.) Once the broom and dustpan were within sight, the phony trudged further into the house and towards her ma, "May I have a bath now?" She wasn't sure she can stand being dirty much longer, not at home.

As the unicorn worked her magic with the broom and pan, she smiled at the reminder for a bath. "Of course, as soon as your brother gets here, you both get to take a bath for as long as you want." Sea Whip stuck her head out the door, red eyes scanning the path in search of the errant earth colt. "Where is Swamp Net?" she asked, already getting the feeling she was going to have to go out and search for him again. Hopefully the unicorn filly would provide her with the colt's whereabouts.

The phony stilled at her ma's words. She had to wait for Swamp Net? The mud was already starting to dry into a hard constricting shell. "He's not here..." she offered, at least looking conflicted. She'd promised her brother she wouldn't tell Ma or Mama where he was.

The older unicorn studied the little filly, Whip's red eyes narrowed in suspicion. She wouldn't put it past Swamp Net to get his siblings (all of them) to comply with his ridiculous request to avoid taking baths. "Yes, I can see that. Do you know where he is?" she asked and hoped against hope that Tidy wouldn't force her to use drastic measures.

Tidy pressed her lips together in thought and then in a very meek voice, "Yes," a pause, "but I promised I wouldn't tell you." Which wasn't entirely true; she just had to hold out long enough that Ma didn't see the point in forcing him to take a bath tonight. She had a feeling though that this whole promise was going to be much harder than she'd thought. Especially since she could feel something slimy sliding down through her mane and against her neck.

Well, this was a dilemma. On the one hoof, she didn't want to teach the filly that breaking promises was acceptable. But on the other hoof, Whip didn't want Tidy to think she could get away with undermining her mother's authority. The unicorn wondered how Latte would deal with this situation and decided to ask her one of these days. But for now she looked at Tidy and said, "In that case, you'll just have to wait for your brother to get here. I drew a bath for two and it would be too much for just one filly."

Just her rotten luck. She let out a suffocated whimper then schooled her face as best she could into impassiveness. "Okay," she agreed, soft with a nod that squelched. This was a very bad idea but she would not give up. She'd just hope they were nice when they hammered the muck off of her.

Sea Whip was not a cruel mother, or at least she didn't think she was. She hoped she wasn't. The unicorn knew very well the aversion Tidy had with being dirty. Just as she knew very well her son's aversion with baths. "I'll go look for Swamp Net, you can head to the bathroom and wash your front hooves and face at the very least."There, a bit of a compromise on her part while still maintaining her authority. Sea Whip would have patted herself on the back for it had Tidy not been there. "Is there any places I shouldn't look? Just to save us both time."

A brilliant smile lit up the filly's face, "You're the best ma." She briefly closed her eyes, the euphoria of knowing she'd be at least a little cleaner, making the whole ordeal seem like nothing more than a small bump in the road. At least until her ma asked for places she shouldn't look. Confusion flooded her eyes, "That's not cheating?"

Sea Whip tilted her head, "Hmm, from my experience it's being creative. I respect that you want to keep your promise so I won't make you tell me where he is. But where he isn't is another matter." It was all quite logical to Sea Whip. It gave the filly just enough wiggle room to keep her promise while helping the mare out as well.

"Oh." She blinked, thoughtfully, then leaning close to her ma, she dropped her voice into a conspirator's whisper. "You shouldn't look far away," she started and then, "It wouldn't be helpful to look close to the ground either..."Huni Pi just as a reminder; we keep forgetting about these

The mare nodded solemnly, "Thank you, Tidy. I won't press you for any more details and..." Whip looked like she was debating with herself. In the end, she relented to the filly's desire. "You can do more than wash your hooves and face. Better you take that bath while the water's temperature is optimal. Your brother might appreciate more if it's gone cold given the circumstances."And because she trusted Tidy (probably more than she ever would Swamp but she'd never say that out loud), Sea Whip headed out to look for her errant son. anemosagkelos I think we can end this RP here?
